Any suggestions on Poly room categories for me, DH and 3 and 5 year old? It will be our first time considering staying on-site. I'm drawn to staying at the Poly because when I was little my family's one and only trip to Disney included a stay at the Poly. I'm open to other resort recommendations too.

We stayed last May at the Poly with my 9 yr old and 1 yr old, and we truly loved our room location. Check out my TR for pics of the location. We requested Tokeleau on the 1st floor- and it was great. The ground floor level was probably the best thing about it, with all the ducks and bunnies that would come to visit. Plus, the kids enjoyed the "yard" that came with it. Tokeleau was a good spot for us, because it was pretty equidistant to everything. We were very close to the quiet pool, but the kids enjoyed the big pool better, which was somewhat of a walk. As with getting to the GCH, it was a small hike to get there...but no more than five minutes. We were also really close to the beach- which the kids loved. We had a sideways waterview from the patio, and it was a garden view room. I would happily return, but it appears our next trip we will be trying the Cabins at FW since we are bringing a new baby and DMIL, so it will be different, but we are excited!!!

We stayed in December at the Poly for the first time and loved it! We have a 3 year and a 5 year old, both boys. We also stayed in the Tokeleau building but on the third floor. When I looked at the different room choices to see which to request, I noticed that some buildings had smaller rooms than others. I wanted the bigger room since I was paying the same price! I liked the idea that the Tokeleau building was centered between the main house and the TTC so we could hop on either monorail, but we ended up never walking to the TTC because we always went to the main house for my husband to get coffee before we headed to the parks. We had a garden view, but our room overlooked the quiet pool and we could see the castle (and fireworks) when we looked right when standing on the balcony. I was worried about the balcony at first but it is so high that it was no problem with the boys. The only thing we had to do was make sure they didn't stand on any of the patio furniture. There was no noise from the pool area, but no one was swimming since it was so cold!
What I loved most I think about our whole trip was walking over to the Poly beach and watching the electric water parade and then then Wishes fireworks. The music for the fireworks show was played over the speakers (but not too loudly) and the view of the fireworks was amazing! I've never seen the show from the view because I'm used to looking up and left and right to see everything. This was from a distance across the lagoon and it was perfect! And the electric boat parade was sooo cool. The kids had fun playing in the sand and swinging on the hammocks. I loved just walking the short distance back to the room to end the night.
This was the first time we had stayed anywhere besides a value resort, and I could tell the difference. It was nice. Good luck and have fun planning and on your trip!
