Poly has booked us, 6, for june. Our 6th is 2 1/2, but they said thats not a problem. SO, the maximum must not be 5, but 6..

We are having to pay adult prices for our DS10 (will be 11 at the time of trip) for the first time. At first I wasn't happy about it at all, especially with us using the DDP. However I have noticed lately that we have been letting him order off the adult menu when we go out and he eats all his food. Heck sometimes, he can out eat me. I'm 5'5" and he comes up to my forehead, wears a men size 7 shoe (same as me), and is pretty thin. At least for my DS the kids meals just wouldn't fill him up, so I have no problem paying adult price for him.
Also, when I booked the trip I was so excited about booking our first WDW trip at Christmas-time, that I forgot DS10 would have a birthday by our trip. He is actually going to be 11 at the time of our trip, not 10 like I put when I booked the trip on line. As soon as I noticed it, I called them and they told me not to worry. I tried to get them to change it, but so far they haven't. They just said that if I had put he was 9 and he was going to be 10 they would change it. Then it would be the difference between him being charged as a child vs being charged as an adult. Eventhough, I've been told by a couple of CM's not to worry about it, I still am.
I wouldn't worry about it. ANd eating has nothing to do with why it annoys me. I'll pay for my child as an adult, but she isn't an ADULT. A 10 yr old isn't an ADULT. Period. They should never be referred to as one.

I was only stating that as unethical as it might be for the OP to lie, it is just as wrong for WDC to lie -- which they do each and every day about tons of things. It has nothing to do with prices or policies -- it's the unethical practices that every one seem s to overlook becaue it is Disney that bothers me. A "spaid calling a "spaid" or whatever that saying is!!

The maximum at the Poly IS 5 - plus a child under 3. You're within the occupancy limited because your 6th person is 2 1/2 .... once they turn 3 you'll need to make other arrangements like booking 2 rooms or using lodging that has a occupancy of 6 (i.e. Family Suites, Fort Wilderness Cabins, etc.)

That is what the CM is saying, but if you look at Disney info it says guests 3-9 and guests 10+.
Actually, my email ressies all have my daughters name age and ADULT listed next to it. My boys all have CHILD. That would lead me to believe WDC believes she is an adult which is ludicrous.

My only point was, WDC is unethical also. You flame a person for asking a question, yet it is perfectly acceptable for the corporation to be unethical:confused3 I'm not talking about policies or prices, I'm talking about flat out unethical practices that the public turns a blind eye to yet you jum down this person's throat for asking a question. That's it

SO, lol, children over 10 are adults, and children under 3 are not "occupants", therefore are not people at all..just kidding around..:rotfl2:

oh also on trip advisors they were bummed that mousekeeping no longer did cute things in rooms for the lil ones--they are thought that was a big dis appointment....
i like the idea of watching the fireworks from there with sleepy kids

Yes, something I've been hoping to do for years... Stay at the Poly and watch Wishes from the beach. Enjoy!

Mousekeeping did the cute towel things for us last week at ASmu. So, you never know. Maybe one of those Mousekeepers will be over at the Poly your week.

I did learn that Mousekeeping as an idea of where the kids are staying. We had connecting rooms, we (the big kids) kept getting the cute stuff, not the *real* kids. We concluded at checkout that this was because they had our kids listed in the room where we actually stayed. All that to say, if they know that kids are in the room, you just might get some mousekeeping magic.

It wasn't for asking a question, it was for stating openly that they and their TA are LYING about the child's age. That isn't an inquiry, but a statement.

And if you have such objections to WDW and it's practices and policies then why go? :confused3

You know this is a new poster. Perhaps you could consider not beating this to death.

She asked a question and everyone who knows the Polynesian has assured her that her family would fit legally.

She obviously didn't lie to the TA. The TA is the one who advocated lying and is also the one who would be making the fraudulent reservation.

Personally, I hope that Peonyflower finds an honest TA or takes care of reservations herself.

Peonyflower :grouphug: , welcome to the DIS. It's a great place to share and learn about WDW.

i think you guys are over reacting severely! my dd turns 2 three weeks prior to the trip HELLOOOOOOOO people wake up. the pricing stays the same for disney up until over the age of 3-this is to keep her on our lap on the flight down so she doesnt pay airfare........i dont appreciate your comments

i think the pricing is for "Under 3" which wouldn't include a three year old, although I don't think a couple of weeks is a "big" deal (but I am not DIsney :O) ). For the airfare, unfortunately, a kid is only a Lap child under 24 months. If your youngets is almost three, I'd hate for you to get there w/o a ticket and not be able to fly. i would definitely check into this

I've heard of airlines asking for proof of age for a child. Someone I know had to buy a ticket at the gate for their child because they didn't have a birth certificate with them.

One thing you will learn quickly is if you don't want something commented on, don't have it in your post. Otherwise it will be considered fair game. Many of us have learned that the hard way.:)

What age would you have them start charging them as adults? 18? The childs portion only comes in one size and most 10 year olds can eat more than that. The DDP is tied into your ticket, and since a child can not order off the adult menu, to me it only makes sense to pay more for them. When I've talked to them I don't think of it as him being an adult but the ticket price. I can understand not wanting your child to grow up any faster than they already do. However, I don't see Disney categorizing 10 yr olds as unethical.

Personally, I like that Disney keeps track of my DS's age. The CM's know a lot more about WDW than I do. If they can see their ages in a computer and suggest something for their ages, then to me it's all worth it.

Peonyflower- Poly is a great resort and I agree it is great to stay there when you are traveling with little ones who need naps and breaks during the day. DH and I always asked for a first floor room so we can enjoy the patio if little ones need to go to sleep early or nap.

As for those of you who felt it was your right and or duty to bash this NEW DIS member...shame on you!!!! How helpful do you think your self-righteous commets are. You could have kindly informed OP about the Disney occupancy policy. I highly doubt your lectures were appreciated.

I stayed at CBR last year 2 rooms 5 adults and we always had towel animals everyday in both rooms, so it just depends on the mousekeeper

True school lunches come in one size. Which is why my children want a snack as soon as they walk in the door, and so did all of the children of that age from the day cares I worked in.
Also, I work in day cares for over 10yr. At least half of those years were spent as a kitchen manager. To think that what would fill up a 4 yr old, would fill up the average 10 yr old is just laughable. Of course you will have the odd 10 yr old that "eats like a bird".

I just think you're obsessing way to much over the word adult. Like I said the main reason I don't have a problem with it, is because most 10 yr olds can eat more than the amount they are given in the children's menu. If you use one of the DDP it is tied into your park ticket. What would you have them do? Make a special category for 10 - 18 yr old just because you don't want the word adult any where near your child.
