Hello!

DD (6) and I will be staying at the Poly this August for the first time! :cool1: I was wondering if the Poly experts here could answer a few of my questions. DD and I should arrive at the hotel between 1 and 1:30 on a SUnday. What do you think our chances are of being able to go directly to our room? I know that the offical check in is not until three. If our room is not ready I had thought we could swim. Is there someplace by the pool where we could change? Also does the poly have towels by the pool or should I bring one?

Also for anyone who has stayed at the Poly - have you done the kids activites they have there and which ones would you reccomend?

Thanks so much for your help! :cloud9:

Although I have never stayed at Poly, I have stayed at many of the other resorts. I have never had a problem checking in that early, but if for some reason your room is not ready, you can definitely use the restrooms to change and go swim. They have towels at the pool. I have always wanted to try Poly, hopefully someday we will.

We stayed at the Poly last year in June and we checked in around 11:00 on a Sunday and were taken straight to our room.:thumbsup2 There are Bath rooms at the volcano pool, and there are towels at both pools. Hope you love it as much as we do. We're going back at the end of Sept.:cool1:

Are you using ME? If so, just remember to have what you need with you in case your luggage takes a while.

Thanks! I am really looking forward to it! Although I do think that being on the monorail will spoil us forever!:rotfl2:

Thanks for the reminder. We will be using ME but we always have a small "just in case" bag with us.

Staying at the Poly will spoil you forever! We love, love, love it!!!

As for kid's activities - (you might want to check to see if this is still the case but) before 4pm kids can play at The Neverland Club free of charge (with a parent present). My DD did this when she was about your daughter's age (she's almost 10 now) and had fun doing art projects, playing with the puppets and dress-up clothes and watching movies. It's a cute set-up! We've never used the center for night-time childcare but I bet they run a fun evening.

Have a wonderful trip with your daughter!

Debbie

First off, congrats on the upcoming Poly trip!

My DD and I arrived at the Poly last December around 11am and a room was ready for us. Even if it wasn't, there are restrooms in the GCH (first floor across from Wyland Galleries and second floor next to 'Ohana) and at the Volcano pool for changing. There are towels available for you at the pool.

As for kid's activites, my DD only did the Neverland Club in the evening. We missed the lei making and keki hula activities. :sad1: Another cool activity is to watch 'old school' Disney cartoons on a flatscreen LG television in the children's area in the GCH. Sometimes there is a mousekeeper making towel animals that the kids can pick one out to take with them. My DD picked out a bunny rabbit with a lei around its ears.

Be warned, the Poly is an addicting resort. My DD doesn't want to stay anywhere else! LOL!

BF and I stayed there last August..it was awesome!
While we were waiting to leave on our cruise we saw kids learning a hula dance.....they also have a torch lighting ceremony too!

Have a blast!

Thanks so much! I had thought about using the neverland club at night but it will be nice to check it out before hand - then we may not go in the evening!

What great news! I always check in to a WDW hotel planning not to have a room ready so that way when it is ready it is a very pleasant surprise but I was not sure about the Poly's policies. I am hoping to catch the lei making but had not heard about the hula or towel making ones - thanks for those ideas.

I am so looking forward to it! Our last stay at a deleux did not go over well with dd (WL and the transportation was a nightmare the resort was wonderful but it took us forever to get anywhere) we normally stay at the values which she loves. I have a feeling that dd will not be the only one addicted to the poly! :rotfl2:

The dis is truly the best place!!!!

50/50.

Bathroom OK?

They have towels. :)

I know nothing about kiddie activities, sorry. :(

We totally overindulge ourselves in monorail. Even for MGM, we take the monorail to Epcot, walk to the BWI, stop at the Boardwalk Bakery:coffee: , and hop on one of the Friendship launches for a 10 minute boat ride to the studios.
Hopper required? Yes.
Overkill? Yes, but what the hay?

Tink's Mom: Def keep your eye out for the Electrical Water Pageant that usually happens nightly at 9:00PM on the Seven Seas Lagoon.

My DH and my dad are definitely spoiled. The last trip we took was Poly, DCL and then POFQ....they were VERY disappointed that we weren't on the monorail the last 3 days at the park.

We're planning a BIG family trip next July and the first thing my dad asked was if we were going to be at the Poly because of the monorail. But unless he pays the difference of value/deluxe for 8 days, the family will be at one of the value resorts.

I don't have small kids but I'm a big Poly fan. You will love it. I know they played games down at the pool and your DD will love the slide. They do a lady bug release on Thursdays that you can participate in. I saw children learning the hula in the Main House. I'm sure you can get an itinerary at check in and let her select the ones she would like to try.
You can watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom from the pool or on the beach and right after is the Electric Water Parade. Very cute.
As for check in, that will be hit or miss but like other posters have said, they will hold your luggage for you. You can use a restroom. The pool is always well stocked with towels and I have never not been able to get a nice table and chairs poolside.
Have a memorable trip! :wizard:

I have been thinking about doing the same thing (getting to MGM)!! I am looking forward to the Water Pageant. I have only seen bits and pieces of it in the past as I as leaving the MK.

I know I am setting myself up for disappoint - big time for the next trip when we have to go back to the values!! I love the values (especially since the enable me to take dd so often) but being on the monorail at the Poly is going to very hard to get over! LOL

Thanks so much! At the values you have to bring your own towel to the pool. It is good to know that the poly provides them. This way I do not have to pack a towel with our suits in the event our room is not ready.

Thank you so much to every who has replied! I will be printing this thread out to bring with me to make sure we do not miss anyhting great that the Poly has to offer!
