Poly or CSR? Which Would YOU Choose??

Why not split your stay and be at the Poly for the part of your vacation when you'll be mostly at Epcot and MK, and CSR for when you're doing mostly MGM and Animal Kingdom. The Poly looks fantastic and is convenient but wouldn't it be nice to save a few hundred dollars AND get two great resort pools in one vacation!

Resort hopping is great but it isn't cost effective for the free dining plan since you have to buy a package and the longer you stay, the cheaper it is. If you split 2 ressies, 3 night Poly say, you would have to buy at least one day base ticket for it to be a package for free dining. The same goes with going to CSR for like 4 nights. Staying at one resort with a 7 day pass is much cheaper in cost for free dining.

Nothing beats the Poly... That said, I agree with the poster who said "CSR this time." The free dining is a greater savings for 4 people if you are paying less for the room that BUYS you those free meals... I would put the $1000 away for your next trip, because the Poly is about to undergo and AMAZING transformation... I have seen the pics online and the new rooms look great...New fabrics, flat-screen TV's, the works! We want to return to the Poly but will wait until the rooms are re-done.

For $1000, I say CSR. It's a really great resort, relaxing, beautiful, lots of things to do. The Pepper Market has a lot of choices for food, so it might be easier to use the dining plan while you're there.

Colleen Costello - is the Poly going through a rehab? I thought it was the Contemporary getting the flat screens.

I'm having the same dilema. I have NEVER stayed onsite before and from all the pictures I've seen, CSR and POLY are the only 2 that I am fond of. Right now I've decided on splitting our stay. Then for our next trip, we will know which one we enjoyed the most.

We plan our trips for the month of March, which I think is considered Peak season, so closer to the time, I may have to change my mind. If it is a BIG price difference, I don't know if I want to go deluxe. I'll have to cross that bridge when I come to it...

Poly is evidently about to undergo a similar rehab, and the pictures of the model rooms show them looking quite similar to the Contemporary rooms. It surprised me because Poly has just FINISHED rehab, but evidently they are starting again! The picture I saw had a similar layout to the Contemp, very upscale. There were new treatments for the beds, the sliding glass doors, and new furniture. The flat screen TV is what appealed to my hubby -- he said "WOW, we can go there again when they fix up those rooms!"

There was a Poly thread a while back and someone posted a link to the pics of the rooms.

Thanks, everyone. We chose the Poly. The allure of the monorail with two kids was too much. We've stayed at the Poly before and enjoyed it, and the CSR theming doesn't do it for me, but the great reviews of it that I've read here, plus the $1000 made me stop and think. We haven't been in six years so I guess it's okay to splurge. Thanks again!

We are on our way to the Poly on the 18th & we'll be going over to the CSR on the 21st ( splitting or stay between the 2 resorts). We love the Poly, but we can't always afford to stay here. Have not tried CSR yet, but I've read some nice things about it so we are excited to be giving it a try.We too plan to make much use of the monorail by only going to MK & Epcot while staying at the Poly.I'll be sure to post my review of our split stay trip when we get back.

Have stayed at both. If it's going to be a very busy time..the Poly is not yhe place to stay. The pool area is very crowded and the lobby/public area is worse. Stayed at the CSR for 16 days during the christmas season and the hotel was booked and never had the feeling of being crowded. I really don't the statement "Convention Feeling".
