Poly or Beach Club

I guess I'm more interested if they are not requiring MB for entry. Even at AOA they required it, I would think at a Deluxe resort this would also be required. I was shocked when I searched this and found A LOT of people complaining that MB were not required for entry which definitely led to excess of crowding. I know some people sneak in by walking in behind someone, but many resort guests said the gate didn't even have a lock and a MB not required to open it. But like I also said, these are year old posts, these issues could definitely have been resolved by now and that's what I'm more curios about.

Poly has locking gates that you need a MB for. Of course, as you recognize, people can still walk in with others who use their MB's.

Thanks! At every resort you'll have pool jumpers, I get it. I was just questioning why the Poly wouldn't be scanning...but you have reassured me :) I was starting to get a little concerned and then the quote that really threw me was one person said "There is no doubt in my mind that there was a connection between the Poly pool's overcrowding and the fact that no CMs there scan magic bands for entrance. The fact that it's on the monorail route, easily accessible from Epcot or Magic Kingdom, makes it particularly easy for non-resort guests to drop in for an unallowed swim." I'd hate to spring the extra $ compared to BCV and not even be able to use the pools. :( But I'm hearing they now have scanners, so I feel better :)

And having CM's scanning would stop those who walk in behind others vs just using the gate control as they do, but it's not that they don't have some controls as they do. They haven't always though and fencing in the pools is a very new things to WDW other than SAB which has had it for some time and for BLT which opened as a fenced in pool. I'd guess Poly got the fence control approx 2 years ago or so - maybe just a little longer.

My two favorite resorts...

Poly: The atmosphere is terrific. Boat ride away from MK as well as monorails... The dining locations are tremendous also.

BC: Location is unreal. Walk to Epcot, Boardwalk and Studios... Dining options aren't as big as Poly, but the pool and recreational activities are relaxing.

My personal opinion would be Beach Club. However, if you are going in January be prepared for Marathon Weekenders staying in the area. They never bothered us, just a heads up.

Regardless, you will have a relaxing and pleasant time... You are at Disney!
