Next May we are going to do a 3 day Disney Cruise and 3 or 4 days at WDW!!! Now, the hard part is deciding between the Poly and BC. We have never stayed at either. The pros for us at the Poly are obviously the monorail, and we also prefer the room decor there a little more because we are more into dark colors and such. The Beach Club has major appeal because of Stormalong Bay and the short walk to Epcot which is our favorite. I just can't decide. Please help me by voting!

I voted for Beach Club as you said Epcot is your favorite. We really like the ability to just walk in and out of Epcot from YC / BC. SAB is also a big plus.

We really liked our stay at Poly last year, but our sons missed SAB and the easy walk to Epcot / boat to MGM. The Poly rooms are larger, however and our room last year in the Hawaii building was just great.

I voted for the BC since your boys look like the age they would really enjoy storm along bay AND epcot is your favorite resort!! Have a great trip!!!!!

It depends on where you plan on spending most of your time. We love both resorts, and normally split our trip between the Poly and the BW.

Aside from loving the Poly, the main reason we stay there is for the ease of transportation to the MK. Overall tho, if it were a short trip, we would always stay at an Epcot resort over a MK resort. Epcot is our fav also, so we love the short walk. There are also more dining options available in the Epcot resort area. Also, everything is open later over in that area. One of our fav things is walking out of Epcot after Illuminations, and hanging out on the Boardwalk.

If you plan on spending most of your time at the MK during the trip, I would go with the Poly. Otherwise, I would def go with the BC.

Having stayed at both resorts, I would choose the Poly over the Beach Club. When you stay at the Poly you are 5 minutes away from the Magic Kingdom, 15 minutes away from Epcot. At the Beach Club you can walk right into Epcot, but you are a horrible 40+ bus ride away from the Magic Kingdom. We timed it. My nephew and nieces all love to swim, and they all wanted to move from the Beach Club back to the Poly.

I have stayed at both. If Epcot is your favorite, then you should stay at BC. But, I love being able to sit on the beach at Poly & see across to MK & watch the fireworks!

We've stayed at both numerous times - Beach Club wins in terms of location and better overall amenities. Love Stormalong Bay and the short walk to Epcot.

I haven't stayed at the Poly yet (will in January) but I love BC. Epcot is our favorite park and you can't beat the BC. Our trip in January we will be doing a split stay between the Poly and the BC. We considered a split between Poly and GF, but we could not give up the BC.:cool1:

I didn't vote..lol...while I love the Poly...and will be staying at the YC...(close) I really think it depends on the parks you will be visiting most!
Poly..no hot tub...not sure if that is important to you...Tough choice, they both have alot to offer! And the Yacht Club does offer the decor in "darker" tones than the BC.....and most likely there you will et a balcony....some rooms at BC have that "Evita" balcony...
Oh...just flip a coin, you cant go wrong!! :)

The Polynesian is one of our favorites, but we have enjoyed the BC as well. I think the Polynesian would be a good choice, because you said you like the decor. I also think it's just as easy to get to Epcot from the Polynesian as it is from the BC. The rooms at the Polynesian are bigger and the resort is smaller.
I think you'll have a great time at either resort.
Have fun celebrating your bday. I will be celebrating my 40th next yr too!

We have stayed at both Poly and YC. YC/BC wins hands down for me. We were not all that thrilled with Poly. YC/BC offers numerous dining options and the walk to Epcot was the greatest thing for us. One day we were able to do early entry at MGM, go for an early ADR for dinner at Crystal Palace and made it back to the YC in time for Illuminations . :yay:

Thanks everyone. I think we have just about decided on BC. I asked my boys again and we talked about all the pros and cons of each and came up with more pros for Beach Club, the main one for them being Stormalong Bay! Thanks again everyone for helping us!!

I've stayed at both. I personally think that I like the Poly better. Our girls like the Volcano pool better than Stormalong bay. Walking to Epcot is cool, but so is jumping on the monorail and riding around. Both have character meals, and similar activites. The Poly at night, with the tikis lit up just seems more resorty and magical. The Poly also has the Neverland club, that my kids really like. We book at least one dinner at the Cali grill, drop the girls at Neverland and pick them up afterwards. We then can go back over to MK for fireworks, EMH etc. Pretty easy.

It's a push so, have fun at either place!

I see you have made your decision to go to the Beach Club. I think you made the right decision. I too have a teenage boy, and he loves Stormalong Bay, and will opt out of a park day just to swim. We have to pull him out for dinner, and he doesn't leave until the lifeguards close the pool in the evening. In my opinion, the pool slide at Stormalong Bay is the best slide of the resort pools, and we've done them all. The only slide on property that can beat it is at Blizzard Beach. If all the action at Stormalong Bay is too much, the adults can just walk around to the quiet pool, for a relaxing nap, get some sun, or to read a book in a more serene atmosphere.

I have stayed at both the Poly and Beach Club resorts. The Poly is great for it's convenience to the MK, but as your interest is EPCOT, the Beach Club is the resort for you. You can get up and walk to EPCOT, which is nice in the morning and evening. The Yachtsman Steakhouse is a great place for the adults to have a private dinner, while the kids explore the activities of the boardwalk shops and arcades. There is also a wonderful ice cream shop called Beaches & Cream, where you can pick up a really good hamburger or other soda shop items, and of course their signature Kitchen Sink Dessert with I think it's about 12 scoups of ice cream and everything else you could imagine, that's served in a replica of a kitchen sink. The Beach Club also serves a wonderful character breakfast. I'm sure you will be glad you chose the Beach Club Resort.

Have a safe and fun filled vacation.

I voted for POLY!!

I've stayed at Beach Club and didn't care for it. Yes, it's close to EPCOT, etc...I just found it to be not not as "themed" as Poly. SAB is over-rated and over-crowded (IMHO). We were never able to get chairs and the pool/slide was so crowded--my kids were tired of waiting in line to use the slide. (My boys were 8 & 13 when were there). There must have been a convention going on too--there were large groups of people in business attire saving most of the chairs and having cocktails near the pool...

We were there the week leading into Thanksgiving (same year as (9/11), so the crowds were much lighter than most years around Thanksgiving. Our room was very worn...I would go with Poly just because the rooms have been re-furbed more recently.

If you are going to be surrounded by people on the cruise, I think it would be nice to have some relaxation at the Poly! Once, again...just my opinion!;)

Have fun!

Sue

I prefer the Poly but I would choose Beach Club for you based on your love of Epcot. Have a great time. Can't go wrong either way! Both are great resorts.
