Poly...loved it, but a little dissappointed

After a long and expensive day shopping at DTD I arrived back at WL by bus, to find that while I was falling asleep on the bus someone stole all my packages. Including a bag full of toys my DS bought with his own money (he was about 4 y.o. and had been saving for months). I ran to WL valet to explain, they tried (not really) to find the bus I was on and then told me to go to Lost and Found. No one cared what was in the bags or that 80% of my holiday shopping was in them. I was brushed off and might I say pretty p#$!*ed off.

That is horrible!

Why did they not call security instead of refer you to Lost & Found? That is a theft, not a misplaced bag of stuff.

Sorry this happened to you!

I left/lost an earring at CBR a couple of years ago, it was my favorite earring. I blamed myself for losing it, not Disney for not finding it (I did report it).

I thought all the moderates and deluxes had refrigerators in every room now?

I have to tell you to hold out hope!!! My son bought one of those "Make a Toy" items at DQ and the CM forgot to put a "head" in the bag with all of the parts. :sad2: Well, with all of the excitement he did not play with it until we got home. He dumps out the toy and no head....we look everywhere......nothing. This is about a week after we got back and I called CBR to see if maybe we had lost it in our room. I was kinda embarassed to call about a $10.00 toy but it was important to my son. :sad1: Anyways, they checked and did not see anything but said they would keep an eye out. Do you know what.......about two weeks later there was a package on my doorstep with a brand new "head" in it waiting for my son! Can you believe it! Something so small. So don't write everything off yet, you just never know what Disney will do! :flower: Did your kids do any of the activities available at the hotel and if so did they enjoy them?

Unfortunately I have had to deal with WDW Lost and Found and have NEVER had ANY results or help.
<<snip>> So when I hear peoples positive stories of WDW Lost & FOudn, their almost hard to believe. Having had my own experiences. :confused3
But glad to hear there is a happy ending to someones story.

I understand how you feel, AllisonG. I have found the Lost and Found to be hit or miss. Our trip to AKL (mentioned earlier) was the trip of Lost Things. It seemed every day something was lost or missing. The case of the Missing Snuffy was resolved after 2 days - thank goodness.

On the same trip, we were riding the Haunted Mansion, as we came to exit the ride, same ds realized his visor was sitting on the seat and reached back in to get it. The CM stopped him and told us to go around front to get the visor - he would be radioing the front to hold it there. We walked around. The CM knows nothing about the visor and we were referred to Lost and Found. Lost and Found at MK says they can't do anything - we need to check back night. Check back that night - told to check back the next day. Check back the next day - referred to the Main Lost and Found. Can you see where I am going with this? The visor was never recovered. It wasn't the expense of the item - it was the purpose it served that was important to us. Calling everyday didn't help, even calling when we returned home.

And before someone implies anything about personal responsibility, it was RIGHT THERE. DS could have easily grabbed it and gotten out of the ride, but he listened to the CM instead.

I didn't complain to anyone about my stolen Mickey :sunny: antenna ball, but I still can't believe someone would take my antenna ball when my van was parked across from World of Disney! :sad2:

I'm confused as to why you had to request a refrigerator. Aren't they already in the rooms deluxe resorts?

Don't hold your breath over "missing items" - I left my purse in my room after we checked in and when we came back to the room, Disney had given my room away to someone else. Altho the new room owner was kind enough to take it to the office, the manager never even said "sorry" - :sad2:

My dirty t-shirts went on a trip around North America Sep 2004 through Dec 2004, and finally arrived BACK at WDW for my next vacation! (I left them in a drawer at a deluxe resort)

UPS insists Disney was at fault, Disney insists UPS (and I!) were at fault....

Just a note that shirts worn in steamy September don't smell too nice after a 3 month trip around the country! :rotfl:

WDWBetsy~Incidentally...it was on the bed when we exited the room, therefore---presumably folded and carried away in the linens. This was the reasoning of the security officers. (Inadvertantly lost=not planned).

cindyfan~ :confused3 I asked myself this a thousand times...as I'm always very conscientious of my personal effects. It was not a "purse" (as I've actually witnessed others leave), but sunglasses. Since there was no one in the store at the time this occurred (other than the associates), I presumed they would be there upon my return. We were only gone a few minutes, but we all know this is sufficient time for a person to steal a "child" (let alone a pair of sunglasses). Just silly human error all the way around...and everyone makes these from time to time. :confused3

TigrLvsPooh~I definitely agree...time is of the essence (and utmost importance) when reporting any problem.

thefigueroas~ :goodvibes :wizard: :cloud9:

PrincessofQuiteAlot~Terrible! :guilty: :sad2: Thankfully an HONEST guest turned it in. Yet, the lack of consideration on the part of the resort manager should have been reported to corporate.

*While retrieving my rented suv from valet on my last visit to WDW, I began to drive away when I noticed there was a really nice compact CELL PHONE and a money clip FILLED with cash tucked in the little open compartment under the dash/console area!? I was temporarily confused by the objects, and wondered what they were doing in MY car?!? Simultaneously, I realized it was NOT my car, and flipped a U-Turn to immediately alert Valet. The young man whom amended the problem was so frazzled/freaked-out, and explained he would have been in "really big trouble" had I not returned, and/or also left the items in the vehicle. :confused3 I would never even "consider" touching any of the items, as they did not belong to me, and the entire thing was an honest error made by another human being (same make vehicles, brought in at same time, keys mixed up, etc). These things do happen. It's always a relief when "honest" people involved. :cloud9:

Wow I did not realize stating our loss would hit such a nerve!! :smooth:
Let me answer some questions:
Yes the refrigerator is free at deluxe resorts, however, you have to request it at check in. It is not automatically in your room.

They did pipe in Wishes music to the pool and to the beach, however, it was so low you could barely hear it unless you stand next to a speaker, but it was still really nice!

You need to check the times of the EWP and Wishes daily because those times change w/ park hours.

Although I did not expect reimbursment for my daughter's lanyard and pins since it was our mistake it was lost , I was more annoyed about her Pooh. I did not appreciate the lack of caring or effort by housekeeping as to their effort to locate it. To me a little sympathy can go a long way. Plus she had a tough time getting to sleep w/out it. Nothing can replace a prized sleep aid! LOL

I guess I expect more from a Deluxe resort in personal attention no matter how busy they are. That is why I pay more, right? :rotfl2:

I think they certainly should have replaced Pooh and included some extras for upsetting a child.

Yes we should all have personal responsibility but everyone should be respectful of the property of others, even in careless situations. Too much to ask I guess.

Luckily, I've never lost anything or had anything stolen at WDW. Should I be knocking on wood as I say this? One of my friends left a book by the CBR pool. They asked if anyone had found the book and received the book in the mail several weeks later with a gift certificate to a Disney STore. Plus someone from WDW called them twice to see if they got the book back.

My friend's reaction was that it was a paperback book, not a big deal.

I am wondering if you could hear much pool noise at night from your room? We will be there in a few weeks and I can't decide which building to request, but am considering a volcano view. Thanks for the info. :flower:
