Poly Discounts? - June

I was playing around with the online reservations through the Disney World website. We want to stay at the Poly in mid-June 05. Whenever I punched in the date and selected Poly, it would never come back with an offer for the Poly. It always directed me to the YC or AKL instead. But, when I called the reservations office they did have availability for the Poly for those dates. I went ahead and booked using a AAA discount (they gave me 10%, no problem at all). VERY EXCITED!

Anyone have a guess why the online system won't give an offer on the Poly (the dates were 6/9/05-6/13/05)? Would they be nearing capacity? That seems hard to believe given the size of the place and being so far away still. Would this lessen the chance of any Disney discounts being offered for the Poly for that time of year? I know nobody knows for sure, but wanted some opinions.

One last question: Do you have a better chance of getting room requests by checking in early in the day? I know we can't get into the room until midafternoon, but we'll be staying at a value for 2 days prior to moving to the Poly, so we can swing by the reg. desk as soon as they'll allow. All I requested was non-smoking, Samoa longhouse, 3rd floor. Is this too much to hope for in filling a request? I know Samoa's one of the popular buildings. Thanks!

It was a full house for that time period. I was NOT able to get an AP discount (which was always available in the past) for our visit. Fortunately, I was able to wrangle a Disney Visa discount which was only a couple of % higher than AP. So, to answer one of your questions, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a full house at Polynesian next year--whether or not it's booked yet, I would doubt. No guesses why the online booking wouldn't give you the discounts for Polynesian--it's great you got one by telephone though.

As to your other question, I'm not sure there's a pat answer for that one. We usually check in prior to noon regardless. If we are already there and staying elsewhere for the night before our res, we are up and at 'em very early and on the doorstep by 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. While our rooms aren't ready, we get checked-in, have breakfast (we do concierge), and head off to the parks. We will then check back periodically to see if our room is ready or just return to swim when the mood hits. I would think you'd be better off stating your longhouse preference for a room and then arriving early in the day to check-in. For obvious reasons, the staff won't tell you which room you will be in, they may tell you if they can accommodate your requests later in the day.

Actually, it was more than just the AAA discount that the online system wouldn't quote (I didn't expect it to go that far). It just wouldn't quote the Poly at all for that time period, not even rack rate. Thanks for the other tips, as well! We will definitely swing by the Poly early on our "moving" day! I feel better about going ahead and locking something in. Very excited!!!!

I had the same problem with Poly for mid-Aug. The system keep giving me quotes on YC & OKW. Strange.

I noticed the same thing. No Poly at all for late March (which didn't surprise me due to Spring Break) or for June. Then I called CRO to try to find out about suites for June. They were all booked. We have 7 people and didn't really want to get 2 rooms, so we opted for a suite at AKL instead. I was hoping for Poly and kind of bummed about it, but I'm ecstatic that Royal Assante at AKL was NOT booked!! Now I just gotta work my butt off to pay for it. I did think it was weird that I could never get Poly to come up for any dates on line. Strange
