I've read about water, soda, food offerings, etc. but I don't recall seeing coffee mentioned. I am a morning coffee person and was planning to get the refillable mugs (we like them as souvenirs anyway) but with the kids getting soda thru the concierge lounge I suppose I won't buy the mugs for all of us. Is coffee available in the lounge? Would the refillable mug be a waste of money? I'll buy at least one for my souvenir and to use at home anyway. Is the coffee available thru the refillable the same great coffee that is served in the Kona Cafe?

Thanks.

Coffee is served all day long in the concierge lounge. Decaf, regular and hot water for tea.

I didn't have any this November but in the past it has not been the same as Kona coffee. It is like the coffee at Captain Cooks or most WDW spots.

Coffee is served all day and through the evening at Polynesian, just as BCV indicated. I disagree, however, about the brand served--I don't think it's possible that it's that cruddy Nescafe served elsewhere in WDW.

We've always found the concierge coffee to be very good. We do not, however, drink the coffee in the urns on a regular basis. The Polynesian offers a pretty good (if you like strong coffee) espresso. You must ask for it since it isn't served out front. It is made to order in the kitchen.

If you enjoy a full, rich, strong coffee--get the espresso--you'll get your morning jump started in a hurry! ;)

When we were there last year the coffee was very good and I believe it is the same as they served in the Kona cafe. It is advertised as Kona Coffee and Tikimans web site says that they serve Kona Coffee.

Well, I'm sure happy to be wrong! I guess I should have tried it this trip.:o

I'm a tea person but enjoy coffee too. I did try coffee there on at least one previous trip and it sure didn't taste like Kona nor like the good brand that used to be available through room service and in the restaurants. Tasted nasty to me...but perhaps my tastebuds were off! I'll be sure to have some next trip!

The cups for the coffee are the styrofoam Mickey Mouse cups with the travel lids. You can pour a cup and bring it with you for the trip to the parks!:)

I'm not really that picky about coffee per se since as my hubby points out I take a little coffee with my cream ;) but it's good to know it's there and available.

Can anyone describe the Poly mugs assuming I can refill that from the lounge as well? I mean the ones sold at Captain Cooks. I use my Contemporary mug every morning. It's a good size.

The soda in the lounge is in cans. There is no machine to refill your mugs. The mug is a nice souvie but I doubt you would get any use from it since all you need is supplied by the concierge.

We were just there in November and thought the coffee was fine - not great, but not awful like the Nescafe stuff in the food courts.

I would second that you don't need the refillable mug - It is only good for soda and coffee at the food court, which is DEFINITELY the Nescafe stuff. You can't use your mug at the Kona Cafe. Also, they only had the big fat mug at the Poly in November - I don't know why they don't offer the slimmer travel sized mug - it holds more, and is much more convenient for using at home!

I like the good old mugs at the Polynesian. TRADITION! Now my car type one from AKL does work better for school runs but I cherish my Polynesian ones...including two different pink versions from many years ago.

I thought the coffee in the lounge was...just....OK, not great. I would have preferred the espresso. Did I understand that right, I could have just asked someone to go in the back and make me espresso? I have read here before that things can always be "asked" for in concierge, but when I asked for a few small things, they were never possible. For example, they have Swiss Miss type packets of Hot Cocoa mix out. My dad is borderline diabetic, so he asked if they had any sugar free packets. Nope...and no offer to get any either...and this on the first day of a week long stay. How hard would it have been to fulfill that request?
Thanks for the heads up on the espresso, though, I might have to ask for that next time. A shot of espresso is always a good thing on those long vacation days.....

Hi: We tried the concierge at the poly for our 25th ann. Loved everything in it. We had no complaints about the coffee and we are from the town where the first tim hortons donut shop was established. lol

The guava juice for the kids or yourself is fantastic. It is out most of the day in a huge urn. You can go to the lounge as many times as you like for drinks etc, I would bet you can even ask for small boxes of milk and they may have it even if it is not out.

The refillable mug is not needed unless you like the design and want it for a souvineer.

I really think if you get a great price for the concierge it is the way to go with a family.

You can take the bottled water to the parks with you as well, or soda whatever you wish.

Deb.
