I know I should tip Mousekeeping and for Turn Down Service, however who else besides the bellman do I tip and how often?

When we go to eat in the lounge do we tip and if so each time?

Also, do you tip the reservation desk when you check-in?

Please help me before I go broke, thinking I need to give everyone $$$$. You guys have been a great help on these board.

Thanks!

Sammie

Tipping mousekeeping for its service is totally up to you. There is a morning mousekeeper and an afternoon mousekeeper (turndown). Tipping these hardworking people (and underpaid I might add) is a rule of thumb in concierge or otherwise.

As to the remainder--no tipping in the lounge. It is not a restaurant and tipping is against the "rules" for concierge staff. Ditto the front desk and/or planning personnel. I know others have indicated they do it--according to a friend of ours in IPO--if they are caught accepting a "cash tip", they can be dismissed.

Some on the boards like to treat CMs on the front line (and their IPO planner) to a small gift from their home town/state. We reserve the special gifts for those who have really made our stay something above and beyond the norm. The gift giving is totally up to you and not expected by the staff.

Personally, I like to write letters to their supervisors/managers praising the work performed! This will often translate into real $$ and notice where it counts--at work! I think the CMs appreciate knowing that they are well thought of as well.

Obviously, bell services is a tipped position as well. Other than that, put your wallet away! :)

Thanks for the information.
We always tip the housekeeping and really have never used a bellman before so this will be a first. I guess a dollar per bag or $5 should suffice??
I'll have to look for some local stuff to take with us.

Thanks Tess! We're hoping for our first (concierge) Poly stay in September and your information is very good to know! :sunny:

$1 to $2 per bag is the usual and customary tip for bell services. You're thinking is correct.

Your welcome Luckymommyx2.
