OK so I've learned we can't just go in and watch the fireworks without a day pass. Decided to go to Poly beach and watch from there. Plan to take a cab from Universal Royal Pacific to Ohanas restaurant. Is it a short walk to the beach from there? From what I've read the view from the beach is really good.

Hi,

It is an easy walk from Ohana's just go down the stairs, out the back of the hotel walk towards the pool and you will see the beach. It is a great spot to see the fireworks! Have fun!!

Every time we eat at Ohana we go out back to the beach and watch the fireworks and water parade from the beach. If you get there early enough, you can get a beach chair/lounger. Our ADR is at 8:15 this Nov and the fireworks are at 10:30? I think so we plan to do the same thing since that will be our first night at WDW and not a park day. We've never actually stayed in MK for the fireworks.

We try and make a day of it, we take the bus from all stars to MK, than take the monorail to the Poly. We spend the day swimming, than have dinner and out to the beach for the fireworks. We than walk over to the TTC, and take the bus back to the All Stars Resort.:cool1:

The Poly beach is one of the best locations to watch the fireworks outside the parks, but doesn't come close to being in MK itself.

Seriously? You stay at All Stars and swim at the Poly? Um, okay. I assume you know you can't pool hop like that, but whatever.

I can't imagine pool hopping, just because I wouldn't want to ride a bus or monorail and be wet.

We just left the poly and several families were escorted out for pool hopping. Just an FYI.

That's good to hear, it's really how it should be. Nobody want to pay for a deluxe hotel and have guests from elsewhere crowd it.

I hope this is a joke.. That's so... Wrong! I myself get pretty ticked off that I spent so much money and cannot get a chair on the beach or st the pool b/c guests from other resorts are in them.. Some ppl can't understand that but think about it, Poly guests pay big money for those amenities..

Wait there aren't any resort buses from TTC!!!

How early would you suggest that we get to the beach to get a decent seat for the fireworks?

I agree. I realize that people keep talking about watching the fireworks and swimming at the Poly but really it's not fair for the people who pay to stay there. I am staying there soon and if I can't get a chair at the pool or the beach when someone who is NOT staying there is using one I will be upset. I know they were monitoring people on the fourth of July and I hope this continues. I think Disney has to do something because it has gotten way out of hand. You can watch the fireworks from a park or the TTC.

I would NEVER swim at the Poly (when not staying there) but we have a dinner reservation at 'Ohana near fireworks time. I would not take up a chair, either. Is there a corner where I could stand with the rest of the peasants? :duck:

How busy does the beach get around the time of the fireworks in the summer? A dinner at Ohana followed by Wishes on the beach sounds quite nice. We do have length of stay tickets and will be watching Wishes from MK probably more than once during out stay, but thought a different perspective would be nice.

Five minutes before would be fine. There's tons of beach.

Disney allows anyone to watch them from Poly Beach, so I'm going to go with that. Fourth of July and NYE are crowded, but still not ridiculous. The rest of the year there's far more beach than people.

Swimming is a different issue altogether.

Not that busy, except 4oJ.

100% agree with mesa here. Sorry, DisneyMim, but the beach at the Poly is a public area and not an explicit amenity of the resort. That would be like saying people can't sit on a bench on the Boardwalk unless they are staying there. Disney encourages people visiting other resorts in hopes they come back and stay on site again next trip. Even if Disney wanted to prevent people from sitting on the beach, are they going to have a bouncer? Not realistic.

But yes, swimming is a different story. Pools are an amenity of the resort and should only be allowed to be used by guests of that resort. Chairs? Not so much.

Our experience has been that a lot of those staying at the poly can watch from their balconies. The chairs are pretty much open to everyone. I mean, seriously, you cant' swim at the beach anyway. It's rarely that crowded, except for the fireworks. Last trip, they were showing a movie on the beach and they stopped it during the fireworks. We sat on wet seats (it had poured a couple of hours earlier) and it wasn't an issue. The pool is entirely different than watching fireworks from the beach. We've stood before too. We just happened to get chairs this last trip. We stay at Shades of Green which is just across the street, but love to visit the Poly. I can't imagine using the pool there as it's not our resort. The fact is, pool hopping isn't allowed between different levels and sometimes even the same level. If we use the pool, we do so at SOG. The poster who talked about going to the Poly and using the pool was wrong and it's stated by WDW policy. Beach access at the Poly is not.

The beach is open to anyone but the pool is not. We have watched the fireworks occasionally but we just plop down on the sand. We spend quite a bit at the Polynesian so I certainly don't feel guilty. It also never occurred to me to think about this when we stayed at that resort.

Okay guys I guess I overreacted. I just got to thinking that if everyone and their uncle used the pool it would be terribly crowded. And people staying there would never get a chair at all. I think the post that said that they make a day of it, swim, etc put me over the top. Just isn't right. The beach is big and if people go there at night, not use the pool, it is probably okay. I want everyone to enjoy themselves at Disney!!
