Poll- Your Pet peeves

Fwiw (regarding the mention of it) Royal seems to be delaying dynamic dining on the other ships and if I'm reading cruise critic right they might be pulling back from it on quantum. Something isn't working right about it.

Is dynamic dining basically the same concept as rotational dining?

Not exactly. It was meant that you never had an assigned table at any restaurant any night. You made reservations (or you could attempt a walk up) for the various restaurants each night. You could go somewhere different (and/or at different times) each night, or you could go to the same place at the same time if you wanted. Anyway, I think it proved to be either A) too confusing to guests and/or B) too difficult logistically for Royal Caribbean because they have since axed the concept entirely fleet-wide.

The discourteous behavior of the people that talk (chat) during movies and shows is ridiculous. They act like they are sitting in their living room with company!

We were in a movie theater one time and a whole bunch of women came in and they were obviously "catching up". Why they chose a movie theater I'll never know -- who pays those prices to just sit and chat! I finally went down to them and told them if they wanted to give us our money back for the movie we'd be glad to come back another time so we don't have to listen to them. Or maybe they could go to a coffee shop to do this. They were quiet the rest of the movie and one guy applauded me LOL

I saw this mentioned already but it is a big pet peeve for me so going to mention it again.
Kids having buffet freedom without proper training, LOL. Witnessed a boy around 8/9 years old take a pancake, put it on his plate and then decided he didn't want it so put it back in the tray with his hands!! I told him to take it and throw it away. I always take from the bottom of a tray due to seeing this. :thumbsup2

I absolutely always take from the bottom or the very back for that very reason. UGH :crazy2:

Probably unique to my situation, but I absolutely hate it when I am pushing my daughter's wheelchair, someone cuts in front of her and is bumped, then turns and scowls at me or lashes out verbally. I am extremely careful when maneuvering the chair, I watch the person/people in front of me and leave plenty of space, but when someone abruptly cuts in front, often the laws of physics come into play. An object in motion stays in motion unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. You cut in front, it's your fault.

When you're leaving Cabana's to go outside (sometimes with a full tray of food because you can't find a seat and would rather sit outside) and the person in front of you does NOT hold the door open eventhough they know full well you are right behind them. I always give a heartfelt 'thank you very much' when someone holds the door for me (anywhere, not just Cabana's lol).

Grown-ups determined to beat children at the trivia challenges >.>

Sorry, but unless it says CHILDREN'S trivia, anyone participating has the right to play to win. (And I say this not as someone who gives a rat's patootie about trivia but as someone who believes we do children a disservice by letting them win all the time. Because life will not let them win all the time.)

People who smoke in the non-smoking sections of the deck. Even worse, smoking a cigar in the non-smoking section.
This was on page 3 but it's my pet peeve too...and people that smoke on verandas!! Also waiting for an elevator and people come from nowhere and jump ahead. I have to use a rescue inhaler and our room is on deck 12...no way am I doing that many stairs!

How can you have a pet peeves thread and not be judgemental? Most people are bugged by things that other people do. For me it's able bodied people and kids taking the elevators. Yes some people need elevators, but the majority of people are just lazy.

But the point was that you can't tell who is able bodied just by looking at them for 30 seconds.

Let me start out by saying, you responded to me first on a "pet peeves" thread.. Did you come to this thread specifically looking to find things you do, and justify yourself? All I did was answer OP's question..

Or perhaps, it's a pet peeve of YOURS when grown-ups let children get their shot at answering questions or shouting guesses during charades? If so, you should just post that response to the thread itself..

And I'm curious, do you think children should be matched up against adults in all walks of life or just in Disney-related competition? I mean if it's a "disservice" that we let kids win all the time then maybe you should go to the basketball court and dunk on all the 8 year olds.. That will help them win in the future for sure!

I came on to read the thread and chose to participate. As I said I don't do trivia, but unless the event is advertised as being for children, adults have just as much of a right to participate and answer. Perhaps you should suggest they have children's only trivia where no adults are allowed. Like in the clubs during secured programming.

So yes, I would say that the attitude that if children are participating in an all-ages event they should be allowed to win just because they are children IS a pet peeve of mine. If the events were called "Children's Trivia" my answer would be different and I would agree with you. But if a child chooses to participate in an all-ages event (or the parent insists that their little dear be allowed to participate in adult events), then said child needs to understand that people are not going to go easy on them just because they are children.

Plenty of other people have responded to peeves - not sure why you feel the need to single me out.

Good point. I'm 5'3 and 110 pounds....I look healthy and fit but after surviving lung and colon cancer I'm just not able to do stairs like I use to. I wait patiently by the elevator and think others should wait their turn or if able, use the stairs.

I'm so glad you are a survivor and able to travel and understand your plight. My sister is a cancer survivor and often needs a wheelchair for even five minutes of standing/walking. However, you'd never know by just looking at her and she forgoes the wheelchair if she possibly can. A little empathy can go a long way.

I really don't understand all the hate on pajamas at breakfast. This is a cruise. In the seven days you are going to see people in all manners and states of dress and undress. Pajamas are no different than shorts and t-shirt, they always cover more than a bikini. Even a knee length nightgown covers far more than some of the fancy dresses some ladies wear on formal night. I feel like the problem here is probably noticing a lack of a bra on women rather than the actual pajamas being the problem.

Pajamas are sleepwear. I think it's pretty classless for anyone over the age of 4 to wear pajusmas in public. Society has to have some boundaries.

I'm sure these have already been said but my top 3 are:

- people who smoke on their balconies (my neighbor on my second cruise)
- people who push onto the elevator without allowing you to exit first
- people who come into the theater late and cause disruption

On my last cruise, we were at a movie on a rainy day and it was packed. After the movie started a family came in, sat on the stairs right next to us because the theater was full, and then allowed their children to talk and run up and down the stairs for half the movie until a CM finally came and told them they needed to leave. Really takes away from the experience.

I didn't single you out, you singled ME out by quoting me.. Nice try though..
