Poll- Your Pet peeves

This really bothers you?

DCL asks that you drink alcohol that you bring onboard in your stateroom. People like to amend the rules to their own liking.

If you don't choose to follow that rule, then what right do you have to say anything to anyone else if they pick and choose what rules to follow and what rules not to follow?

If someone asks about the rule, give them the rule, don't try to modify the rule so it fits what you want to do.

People who stand in the "traffic flow areas" especially near the pools. It's hard to get around them.

I absolutely LOATHE hand sanitizer. I am all for washing hands and do it frequently, but I refuse to use hand sanitizer. I'm in the camp of "you keep killing everything and pretty soon there won't be anything to protect you!" This sanitize everything (grocery carts, the seats, etc) is getting out of hand, how will your immune system know how to protect you! Sorry, the microbiologist in me came out! My pet peeve is the iPAD camera, that thing is HUGE!

I'm inclined to agree! We do not use hand sanitizer unless hand washing is completely unavailable. But I don't begrudge those who use it - it's just not for us. Hard to believe that would bother someone, as it doesn't mean you are unsanitary.

My pet peeves are more about what goes on before/after a Disney cruise than on a cruise.

1. People who make up their own rules / amend the DCL rules to their liking.

DCL's dress code allows shorts - not "nice shorts" not "dress shorts", the only things not allowed on cruise casual nights are "no swimwear or tank tops". If someone wants to wear basketball shorts, hootchie shorts, casual shorts, short-shorts, they can. There's no reason to tell new cruisers that it's "nice shorts and nice shirts". Those booty shorts and one direction t-shirts fall into the DCL dress code.

Also, DCL asks that alcohol brought on board is drank in your stateroom. Not "drank in your stateroom but it's okay if you put it in a travel mug because no one knows and really, who's going to say anything to you because they all work for tips and don't want to tick off the guests."

2. People who wear the Disney Rose coloured glasses and disbelieve anyone who's cruise wasn't 100% perfectly perfect in every way! I've seen so many people attacked on these boards when they report issues with stuff on their cruises.

3. People who think they are better than other cruisers because they sail DCL or who think sailing DCL makes them higher class than Carnival, Royal, NCL cruisers.

So true!

2. See the recent "Gifts by Shirley" thread. Just remember you can complain about many things, but there are protected royalty on these boards that cannot be commented on, unless it is total worship.

3. Agreed. I have been on two Carnival cruises that we wonderful. I would amend your #3 to say people who think a Carnival cruise should be the same as a Disney cruise when you paid 1/3 the price. I had reasonable expectations and had a wonderful cruise. And honestly, the food on Carnival was FAR superior.

Agreed #2... The thread about the gift baskets was telling and the fact that it was actually shut down when there weren't any offensive posts showed the bias on the boards, what was funny is that there were those who bashed the op until they left the boards basically, but then at the same time the same posters were posting about a bad experience they had with another provider, but didn't mention anything about trying to find out if the small businesses may have experienced a tragedy in their personal lives, may have caused the less than stellar performance, and did not wait to post until after they spoke with the provider as the baskets poster was bashed for not doing, not one person criticized that poster .... Can't have it both ways...

Saw earlier a comment about the iPad cameras, I would agree with his, it takes away from the experience not only for the ones taking the pics with tablets and phones but also for others around you.... not only that but when you are holding both hands in the air and watching the show through your iPad screen aren't you missing the point of being on vacation? If you wanted to watch the sail away party on the iPad just YouTube it, it's probably a better vantage point then what you can get anyways... It's sad that people can't live in the moment anymore.... Worse are those who take fireworks pics, seriously your camera on your mobile device is not going to have the shutter speed most likely you'll get a dark blur when you get home.... Just enjoy the moment

This may have been posted already, but those who can't follow a simple rule. Like a dress code. And Disney not only not enforcing it but changing it so the few can be accommodated. As an example 3 years ago it was no shorts in the mdrs. But people not only wore them anyway but blatantly said we don't dress up at home so were not doing it on vacation. What did Disney do? They looked the other way and now pretty much anything goes. Is it really that hard to put on a nice pair of pants and shirt for a few hours? There's another thread about Palos. Even Palos is looking the other way for some things.

We spent the morning at Castaway Cay. When we got back to our stateroom, my main thought was getting myself and the kids bathed to get rid of all the sand, ocean water, etc. We changed into some relaxing clothes. We rested and then, what do you know, it was time for dinner. We ate at Lumiere's. We walked in with our casual clothes on, shorts, etc. I was mortified! I had completely forgot and we were in the fanciest main dining room so far of the whole cruise. I had studied every guideline and policy, etc. But I had COMPLETELY forgotten about the no shorts rule. So, it's not always done with malicious intent, LOL!

Just wanted to know what my fellow cruisers pet peeves are?

One of my pet peeves is people not using hand sanitizers. :headache:

Entitled passengers. This manifests itself in many ways.

The best defense is to tune them out; the remainder of the cruise is "magical" !!!

Based on comments in other posts, the swimwear in the above article is not as hygienic as a regular bathing suite. :confused3

What's the problem with covering up your skin when you go swimming? I have swim leggings and long sleeve rash guards when I snorkel ... covers me from neck to my ankles.

I also wear swim shorts to my lower thighs and wear a swim top that covers me because I am large busted and curvy. It covers things I don't want others to see and is flattering.

Or would you rather see me in an ill-fitting bikini that rides up my butt and barely covers my chest and rolls and cellulite, from a more traditional bathing suit?

I don't understand why some would think modesty is disgusting. :confused3

This web site has awesome swim clothes that protect the skin and helps with modesty if you need it. Nothing disgusting about these. PLUS I don't have to keep reapplying sun screen. (coolibar.com)

this started in APRIL and people are still peeving....

me, i'd rather be petting

There's a happy medium between swimming fully covered and swimming in "an ill-fitting bikini." (Also, leggings and rash guards can be ill-fitting.)

Ok, time for my pet peeves. Feel free to disagree!

Those who bash first time posters for making odd / pointless first threads. So what?

Those who treat the cast members poorly, including showing up massively late for meals every night.

Show up 1 minute or after a show starts and thinking they will get a good seat or will sit together.

Those who judge other cruise lines they have never been on. I have had fantastic cruises on Carnival and Princess.

When you get called out for rude behavior in public, and suddenly you do not speak English.

Those who judge others not on their behavior, but how they look, what they wear, ECT. I would MUCH rather sit at dinner with a guy in a Who Farted? t shirt and sandals that is a polite, friendly person that some of the people in suits and ties who act like their S doesn't stink and treat the CM's like slaves.

The CM who tells me the leave the ship the last day. How dare you?

The CM who hands me my KTTW card statement the last evening

The headache that my wife gets right as the kids fall asleep. :guilty:

The person who leaves his dirty laundry all over the cabin, he wears many of the same clothes I do. :rolleyes1

:lmao::thumbsup2

Kids in adult areas, other than passing thru pool area (poor design IMHO), and the parents who allow them to.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Kids who run up and down the halls. :furious: People who steal magnets off people's doors. Kids on their parents shoulders. :rolleyes2 Kids in adult areas. Adults who don't care what the kids do. Adults who are rude to the staff.:furious: People who show up late to the shows. :3dglasses popcorn:: People who stand at the buffet looking forever just to see what they want to eat. Take your food and move on. People who stand in the middle of the isle/row/ or walking spaces.-move to one side please. :furious: People who take 25 pictures with a character when there is a line a mile long! :furious: If you want a dcl photographer picture and you want one on your own camera take the picture at the same time. You don't have to wait till the dcl photographer is done. 1 with the kids 1 with the adults & 1 with family that should be the limit!!!! I weigh on both side of the hand sanitizer. I both hate it because then that gets on my hands before i eat. However it is good for those people who can't keep their germs to themselves. Yes I have a lot listed but really how hard is it. Just have a little courtesy please! Even if you try that's better than nothing!
just started reading this thread....with 4000 people on the ship, this person probably is mad or irritated most of the cruise! Bummer....

I am horrible on cruises. I lick all door handles before I touch them. I wear my short shorts at dinner without underwear. I pee in the pool every day because of all of the alcohol that I smuggle from my room to the pool. I love going to the buffets and pick my nose and dispose of my boogers on the serving utensils. Then suck my snot and cough loudly while by the crab legs on the first day? Why? Cuz I can! I love to run up and down in the cabin area of deck 12 again because I can. Elevators? I hit every floor on the way down. And as I do all of these things, I have Dennis Leary's A@&hole song playing on my iPad as I take pictures of peoples faces looking whacked out. I make sure that my daughter is on my shoulders when they have pirate night. I want her to have the ability to watch the show without having to listen to someone darting and stinking up the area

I encourage all people of all sizes to wear what they are comfortable in it's their vacation too! Way too many people who are on this board are sorry to say but stuck up. Because someone does not comform to your way of thinking does not mean that they need to be shunned.

This is my name. I have no reason to make up a screen name to post on a website. If I don't want to talk to you, I won't. I think that my wife would fill her draws if she would see some of this activity that is in this board. I wrote all this down for fun after reading about others pet peeves! It's entertainment for me, it should be entertainment for y'all as well!

I'm kinda surprised this hasn't been mentioned...
The hallways and tight enough...I cannot stand when people's room service remains are cluttered in the hallway, in front of your door-fine, but clearly not near anyone's door, with food that looks like it was vomited out and creating a foul odor is quite off-putting, not to mention a safety / trip hazard...
I've had the joy of room service before and I leave it in the room on the table thing.

I can't say for anyone else however I can tell you that it is our room host that puts our trays in the hall, not us. I read somewhere that the room host puts it there and room service comes back around to get it. not sure if that is true but it would explain why they put it there. I certainly have never seen a hosts cart with trays and dishes on it.
all I know for sure is you may be barking up the wrong tree if you think its the people in the rooms who are putting them there but I do agree that it is sometimes annoying.
