Poll- Your Pet peeves

My pet peeves are pretty standard ones: people who stand in the middle of hallways, people who are rude, people who hog chairs, people who don't supervise their kids, drunk people.....

But I try to set it all aside and remember I am there to have FUN! I avoid elevators because I love to climb stairs - I have a Fitbit so I track stairs and steps every day. I also want to come home the same weight as when I left ;)

disoards 101;51630135]My goal is to walk 9 laps on Wonder's Deck 4 --- hopefully every day (that should be about 3 miles). Hubby and I don't want to pack on the pounds like the last cruise :yay:[/QUOTE]

Its lovely walking around, ive seen all kinds of beautiful sights,,dont hold hands, cause that a pet peeve of mine when running lolololol.

Leading on from the post above, my pet peeve is able bodied people crowding into the lifts and watching while disabled, or those with strollers wait and wait for space in the elevator to become available to them. If you can walk, be thankful for that gift and give the space to someone who is not so lucky.

Thank you!!! and totally agree. My husband is in a wheelchair and it's amazing how many people just push right past him to get in the elevator!! Sometimes we wait 2-3 times before we have to get aggressive and practically crashed into people to get on. What hubby would do to be able to take stairs. I do understand some people have not so obvious health problems that they can't use the stairs, but they are also usually the ones that wait and allow us to get on ;)!

People not researching the cruise before they book it. Read OP that that they booked a cruise in September only to find out it will be ruined because the ship will be decorated in Halloween theme and they wanted to be on the ship as it is during "normal" cruising times. Hello its Disney! They decorate the parks also during theme times, don't hear people complaining about that.

I just don't understand the comments about not caring to dress up or it's too much of a hassle and people are snooty for expecting that.

What happened to wanting to look nice and having dinner be a little more special than grabbing a slice at luigis on deck?

I am not a tux or jacket guy but a nice shirt and khakis isn't that hard to do...

Well stated! :thumbsup2

after reading the above few posts, please bear in mind that people, as a general rule of thumb, are:

stupid/ignorant
selfish
without manners

people don't have good manners because nobody expects good manners...

people behave in a self-centered way because that is how they were brought up

people are disconnected from interacting with real-live people because we encourage make-believe facebook friends (and, before that, pm friends)...there is nobody with you to say "hey, that's mot cool..." or some such admonition...

we were a society which was much more polite and, yes, civilized.

now, putting on long pants and a shirt are a real bother, being polite and giving up an elevator spot to someone more needful is inconvenient....

and not researching the cruise a little is mind-boggling. how can someone book a cruise, find the disboards, and THEN discover that there may be decorations or that you might have to share a table with others? We like our information to come in 15 second sound bites or to crawl over the bottom of the screen......

I don't know,....next I'll be yelling: "hey you kids! Get off my lawn!!!!"

that doesn't mean I think I can change all the above behaviors but I do rile against stupidity.....not prejudiced, just snobbish:rolleyes1

so, in summation, people can often be my pet peeve....or my greatest source of joy

Beach/pool chair hoggers are definitely a huge pet peeve of mine, especially if they just use a towel to hold the chair, not their actual stuff.

I also got annoyed with the rude people who use elevators on our cruise. I was in an elevator that felt full to the brim yet when it stopped at a floor and nobody got off, more people pushed into the elevator! When you see a ridiculously full elevator you shouldn't come in. I took the stairs as much as possible but with an almost 3 year old, it was tough because she didn't want to use the stairs since she was tired.

Drunks on DCL. This one was also annoying because even though I have no problems with people drinking, I do have a problem with people getting drunk and not being able to behave properly. There was a group of adults who were obviously drunk and they were cursing up a storm in the hallways almost every night. Hello, you're on a predominately family cruise! It's rude.

One of my pet peeves is people not using hand sanitizers. :headache:

It gives me piece of mind.

But on a cruise where norovirus can run rampart.....please EVERYone use the hand sanitizer so MY family doesn't get sick from YOUR germs!!

I apologize in advance for my allergy to the hand sanitizers. I wash my hands before coming to the dining room, but there are no witnesses, so perhaps you can just assume I'm a responsible person.

The CMs hand you an alcohol wipe before meals. I didn't realize it was optional.

I just politely tell them I'm allergic and it is no problem. On a 14-day cruise, after a few days, I even had a CM who would see me coming and jokingly put the container behind his back and tell me I couldn't have one.

After all the people that complain about using them would be the first people to complain about getting any bug on the cruise.

Um...no. I also wouldn't assume that because I got sick on a cruise that I must have gotten infected there. Most illnesses have some sort of incubation period.

Judge lest ye be judged...
Some people use the elevator even for one flight because stairs are excruciatingly painful to walk up and down. I look perfectly healthy to anyone else but have had 2 back surgeries...one of which was a failure and left me with more issues than it fixed and permanent nerve damage. You would not know how much pain I suffer walking and even more going up and down stairs. Don't judge people for using elevators even for just one deck until you have walked in their shoes. ;)

:thumbsup2

Those who judge others not on their behavior, but how they look, what they wear, ECT. I would MUCH rather sit at dinner with a guy in a Who Farted? t shirt and sandals that is a polite, friendly person that some of the people in suits and ties who act like their S doesn't stink and treat the CM's like slaves.

:thumbsup2

I like to be a clean person, but I usually do not use hand sanitizer. If I use normal hand sanitizer my hands will break out in big sores. I have eczema on my hands and can keep it under control by avoiding anything with color/fragrance/alcohol in it. I have asked in doctors offices and other public places if their sanitizer was alcohol, fragrance, and dye free and I've been told yes, only for them to be wrong. So, now I don't take my chances. If I didn't buy it, I don't use it.

:thumbsup2

Those who judge how other choose to cruise, for no valid reason, other than it is not how they choose to cruise.

Overplanning / underplanning / buying bottled water / too much food on my plate / port too early / port too late / kids club all day / never in the kids club / huge bar bill / no bar bill / book on board / book with TA / Book with DU / book with Costco

If it does not have a direct effect on you, and it is not harming or mistreating someone, MYOB.

:thumbsup2

Another think I never understood was the ones that would wait and wait for the elevator and then would be only going one floor!  What is up with that?! They didn't look like they had any disability and some were even kids.

You'd be amazed at the number of disabilities that would cause someone to not be able to do stairs but are completely invisible to those around you.

Have you lived in New York / Long Island your entire life? I visited once, and if I stayed there, I might tend to agree, but you seem to be painting with a very broad brush.

But I do agree, these kids need to get off my lawn.

People who act like the own the ship.

Chair hoggers.

The iPad cameras.

Parents who lose their cool and spank, yank or otherwise negatively discipline their kiddos in public.

I would much rather they disaplined thier child in public then not at all ! so fed up of dealing with children who are not given any disapline and think they can do what ever they want at 2 (nursery nurse working with toddlers) god knows how they will behave at 10 or heaven forbid at 13/14/15/16 !

but my number one pet peve is people that stare ! my son is autistic and the happiest child ever but is very young mantaly for his size and look and O become a momma bear and want to beat people, although I usualy refrain and just stare back i have been known to ask what there problam is/where their mannors are ect

Just wanted to know what my fellow cruisers pet peeves are?

One of my pet peeves is people not using hand sanitizers. :headache:

I can't use hand sanitizers. They cause my skin to itch and redden, even the non-fragrant ones. If it's a super strong one, like at the hospital, I can get a bumpy rash.

Sometimes even hand soaps can do this. Depends on the brand.

I like to carry a small bottle of a specific handsoap that doesn't cause such a reaction. I'll pull it out, put some on one hand, put it away and then wash. Must rinse really well.

We stopped going to breakfast in the dining rooms on final morning. It was not only hectic, but we found our servers to be "unfriendly" in their hurry to get you moved out, which made for a really lousy last impression :sad1:

This was our experience on our very FIRST Disney cruise. Our head server was from Italy, as is my father. Every night we were conversing in Italian with him… He was calling us ladies "Bella", and then POOF… the last morning he was extremely unfriendly, and borderline rude.

We are now Castaway Gold, and have never had that experience again, but I will never forget him because of his change in demeanor that last morning!

Kids who run up and down the halls. :furious:
People who steal magnets off people's doors.
Kids on their parents shoulders. :rolleyes2
Kids in adult areas.
Adults who don't care what the kids do.
Adults who are rude to the staff.:furious:
People who show up late to the shows. :3dglasses popcorn::
People who stand at the buffet looking forever just to see what they want to eat. Take your food and move on.
People who stand in the middle of the isle/row/ or walking spaces.-move to one side please.
:furious: People who take 25 pictures with a character when there is a line a mile long! :furious: If you want a dcl photographer picture and you want one on your own camera take the picture at the same time. You don't have to wait till the dcl photographer is done. 1 with the kids 1 with the adults & 1 with family that should be the limit!!!!

I weigh on both side of the hand sanitizer. I both hate it because then that gets on my hands before i eat. However it is good for those people who can't keep their germs to themselves.

Yes I have a lot listed but really how hard is it. Just have a little courtesy please! Even if you try that's better than nothing!

Agree with the iPad camera! I can't believe people are so rude to put something that large in front of them or raise it up and block others view.

Wait, what's wrong with kids on parents shoulders?

It's ok if you are in the back of the crowd with a child on your shoulders, it's the people who are in the middle or the front who do that and then block everybody behind them, children, adults, everyone.

People need to use a little common sense.
