What is a "GINGER". I know, i just want to know if you know. I'll tell ya later...

P.S. Watch "Good Morning America" on ABC on Monday to find out!

Ginger- or better known as SEGWAY is a new scooter that automaticly goes forword and back word by thinking of walking forword or backword. Go to www.segway.com.

When I saw it, it looked realy stupid. It is not the new wave of transportation. Will it work in Wisconsin conditions?

From what I've heard on the Internet, Segway is just a wedge to introduce the real "Ginger". This new one is supposed to be the one that uses the Sterling engin(or however you spell it) and climb stairs. It will still be sold by the SEGWAY commpany, but probably under a different name. The one they announced is probably only for companiens, the new one will be for us.

This doesn't have a lot of relavince, but it reminds me of the wheelchair in the house of the future in EPCOT. Have you ever seen that?

I believe the group that worked on "Ginger" were the same group that invented the wheelchair at Epcot.

The Independence 3000 (or iBot) was developed by Dean Kamen, he also did Ginger. They both can balance on two wheels.

If you ask me (which you don't), I think it looks kinda stupid. Too big and bulky. And if you're going to be on your feet the whole time, why not just walk and get some excercise?

By the way, when I saw the topic heading, my answers were a biscuit and an Egyptian mummy. I don't see them in your poll TestTrack.......

I'm not nearly as culturaly diversificated as you are...

As for Segway, they need to drop the price $2,000 and make it 40 lbs. lighter, then people will buy it. As for the snow, it will probably work in one or two inches, but not anything higher (did you see the water test?) When I go in March/April, I expect to see one in Innoventions. Plus, someone said that they would be good to use at WDW to travel around the parks!

Here is a picture of "it"...

Both the Ginger and the Segway wheelchair rely on their motors and wheels to maintain balance. If there is a mechanical failure or if the wheels slip on ice or cannot correct the imbalance using 12 mph (consumer Ginger's speed) of wheel tread movement, either will topple.

I did see the wheelchair a few years ago at Epcot and yes it keeps its balance when it seems it might tip over.
