We've all heard the Spaceship Earth rumors about it being made over into a thrill ride...

My personal opinion is that this would be a great mistake, (akin to making POTC a white water river ride or some such nonsense), but I am curious as to what you all think.

You didn't have spruce it up a bit on the choices so I picked leave it as is. It could use a good cleaning though.

The one thing I would hate to see is it turned into a thrill ride. We've lost enough of the classic attractions (Horizons, World of Motion, The original JII) already.

They need to quit fixing things that are not broken. That ride is an icon and even though the outside may stay the same, the inside is part of the magic. I love that ride!

I'd hate to see it turned into a thrill ride. Maybe a little sprucing up here and there but wouldn't want it completely changed.

I agree with the previous posts, it's a classic, all it needs is some cleaning. Besides, don't more people ride Spaceship Earth in a day than any other ride at Disney World? I've heard this before, I'm pretty sure it's true.

I voted to keep it.
I wouldn't mind some changes, even significant ones, as long as it was still a fast-loading, slow-moving ride with an educational theme.

I don't know that it should become a thrill ride, but I voted to change it.

Everyone always wants to keep thing the way the are. They tried that here in Nashville with Opryland. NEVER changed anything, pretty soon no one went and they wound up closing the park. When they interviewed the locals around closing time, they all said "we used to go all the time". Well, that was the problem USED to go as opposed to GO now. Even though us die hard Disney fans like the park to stay just the way it is, the truth is the public wants NEW things to see and do if they are coming back.

Leave it alone, if they change it I will have a heartattack. Spruce it up but leave it there!

I voted to not change SE to a thrill ride, but there are some small changes I would endorse:

1) I wish they would add padded headrests. I'm tall (6'4") and the top of the seat kills my neck for the whole ride. Not sure if it bothers people who aren't quite so tall.

2) They need to keep the "modern" scenes, near the top of the ride, updated with the latest (or upcoming) technology - in an ongoing basis. They have done this somewhat over the years, just mentioning that they should continue to do so.

3) Bring back Walter Cronkite on narration!

I agree with you somewhat, the parks as a whole need to evolve to keep people coming back, but some classic rides need to stay in order to, I believe, keep continuity. Spaceship Earth is one of those rides. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride should have been one, too. I love Pooh, but give me Toad any day!

I don't want to see it changed a lot - especially into a thrill ride. I can see it being "updated" a bit. I'm thinking it's a little outdated but not to the point that Horizons was.

From your choices - I'd say leave it. It's a classic.

As far as technology goes, we certainly haven't surpassed or even reached the world-wide video network shown in the later scenes where children from different continents are cooperating in real time on a homework project using software that responds instantly to their every suggestion.

My 9 y/o dd says it's boring, but it's still one of my favorite attractions. Disney is adding new stuff all the time. Jungle Cruise, Small World, Dumbo and Spaceship Earth are classics. Leave 'em be.

I agree that it may need "sprucing" up and some updating, but it is a true classic, one I ride more than once each trip! Change is often good, but change for the sake of change is not always the best course.

3) Bring back Walter Cronkite on narration!

All I can say to that is AMEN! He was the best!!!!
