We've now had no confirmation letters for our last 2 DVC bookings (and a lot more time than 3 weeks have passed on each, so hearing that it "takes a while in the post" is starting to wear thin). I've seen others posting similar comments about missing confirmations - and we've also voiced our concerns to MS (as a MS agent did tell us that this happening more often than it should).

PS: MS has our correct mailing address and e-mail addresses. We've had other communications from them and have confirmed what is on file at their end.

For anyone who's made a DVC booking in 2008: Has anyone failed to receive a confirmation in the mail for any of your DVC reservation(s) at DVC resorts, Disney Cruise Line or Disneyland hotels?

Just after the 11 month marked we tried to book AKV our home resort. Could only get a day here and a day there. Never received a confirmation letter. At the 7 month mark we switched our reservation to SSR (as the days became available). About 6 weeks after that we received our first confirmation letter. Slow indeed! Hope this helps!

We were at WDW 3 weeks ago and still have yet to receive the confirmation letter, the vacation was booked 5 months ago. I already have my confirmation letters for my next 3 trips though.

I've placed about 8 different reservations this year ranging from studios to grand villa locations as well as rooms at DLR and have received my confirmations on all of them. We've never had an issue with the confirming letters.

My last trip took about 5 weeks to get the confirmation letter. Of course, it's on the member web site so I had that printed out for a few weeks prior to getting the hard copy.

Our last trip to VB we booked a 2 bdrm and an OVIR. We only got mailed a confirmation for the OVIR, but we could see the 2bdrm in the system so we didn't get concerned... just printed it out ourselves. Same resort, same dates, same MS member, different handling of mailing confirmation. I voted #2

This same subject was posted last week. Confirmation letters are not automatic. The MS Advisor has to remember to click on a button to request a letter. With all of the new Advisers, there's bound to be mistakes. Remind the Advisor at the end of the call that you would like a confirmation.

The conformations are printed off site in batches and mailed in batches.

I had to double check, but we are missing a confirmation for our May 2009 trip. I'm not worried because I can see the trip on the member site, but if I renting points and wanted to resend the confirmation letter to a renter, I'd be a bit disappointed. In the past confirmation letters have taken their time, but I think I've always gotten them within 4-6 weeks.

im glad that you have mentioned this...i am going to remind the person not to click that button...i have always thought that these reminders where a waste of paper and postage...which might i add...adds to the cost of dues...i elect to go green in this situation:teacher:

Funny, in over 11 years of trips we have always received a confirmation letter. Granted, I didn't sit by the mailbox to see when they arrived. So I have no idea if they all came in 3 weeks. But none missing to date. We even received our letter for our trip in April 2008, even though I only made the reservation about a month out. I just changed our May 2009 reservation, so I keep my fingers crossed. But I would definitely call after a couple of months, if I didn't receive one.

I can't remember ever not getting a confirmation letter from Disney.

Actually they are not a waste. There was a thread a few weeks ago about a reservation not being available at check in. The reservation was suppose to be a dedication 2 bedroom with 2 Queens at BeachClub Villas. The DVC member was told that this room was not a booking cat, and not available for her at check in. When she got to the room they gave her, she found her confirmation went back to the front desk, received the room that she booked at the 11 month window. I always have my confirmation in hand at check in. If I book a dedicated 2 bedroom... that is what I want. If I book a dedicated Studio, that is what I want. I have always received what I have booked.

In the 10 years with DVC I have received confirmation letters each and every time. I don't know exactly how long they take to arrive but even the 3 trips taken just this year, confirmation letters were received.

I did though just book a ressie for SSR for March 2009. This was booked using developer/incentive points. The MS person stated I would not receive a confirmation letter so instead she sent me an email...I thought that was better than any letter. Wonder if they could go to that kind of confirmation??? Just a thought and maybe that would keep paper and postage cost down...hmmm, I may be onto something here!

When we stayed at the BWV on DD points this summer we never even received an e-mail confirmation. I can't tell you how many times I called to at least get an e-mail confirmation, so I could print up something concrete, especially since DD points don't show up online. I would always be assured that they fixed the "problem" and it would be sent to my e-mail, but it never did. It got so frustrating and I finally gave up after several months of calling. I was nervous when we got there that they would say they didn't have a record of our reservation, even though they gave us the confirmation # over the phone. Thankfully, all was fine but it was a nail biter!

When I book online (via email), it takes about a month to get the confirmation letter. (I get the confirmation email quickly though.)

Yes, I participated in that posting - responding to your comment. I wanted to start a poll on this topic, hence the new thread.

We HAVE reminded MS staff and they've said that they've sent a confirmation. Later, when checking back each time with MS there is a note on our file that states that confirmation WAS sent both via letter and e-mail - that we didn't receive after many months.

Looking back at 5 DVC bookings we made this year, we only received ONE confirmation in the mail. We eventually got 2 via e-mail but only by calling many times and demanding they send it - and yes, we do check our spam filters.

MS staff have admitted to us that there is some problem at their end causing this as it is happening too often. It appears that MS staff have entered the request for confirmations at their end, but the confirmations are still not going out all the time.

The conformations are printed off site in batches and mailed in batches.

That doesn't explain MS having problems sending us confirmations via post AND e-mail. Even so, for post . . . MONTHS passed this year and we missed getting 4 mailings, even though the system shows them as "sent".

I agree, people should have the choice to "go green". We wouldn't mind having an e-mail instead of an actual printed letter as e-mail is instant and we are capable of printing an e-mailed PDF at our end. We'd just like to receive SOMETHING as a confirmation and not go empty-handy at our check-in day after 7 hours of airports and flights.

I have not received one for May but It is on the member site.

The member website doesn't contain the confirmation numbers to go with our bookings - which is the most important information regarding anyone's bookings that people should always have with them when they travel.

Our trip is in less than 3 weeks and we still have not received a letter either. I am just going to assume that we will not get it.

You know, I had not even noticed that! I will call MS and tell them I need my Confirmation letter. I always have one with me. I am a person that questions everything and I do mean everything, so if My i's are not dotted and t's crossed I worry. Thanks for pointing this out to me. I have made numerous confirmations, this is the only one that I have not received a letter for. I do have the dates waitlisted, so I had wondered if that was the reason why I did not receive one. I have a split stay that week, I received the confirmation letter for the rest of the stay. The trip was made at the same time.

Funny you should ask.

I called at our 11 month mark and booked 7 nights. Got the confirmation, no problem. I called back the next week and took off one night at the beginning. A couple of days after that I added 2 more nights at the end. So really, I should have received 2 more confirmations. Nothing so far except that first letter, which only covers 6 of our 9 nights. The reservation is correct when I pull it up online, but it did occur to me that I don't have the written confirmation.
