Bumping for more data....

No Fall Break here on Long Island, or in the City, either...... But most of the schools up here have off for the Jewish hoidays - Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Those holidays are the best when they coincide with Columbus Day because it means longer weekends (and trips to Disney) for us. Like this year, Yom Kippur is on Sunday, October 1 so the kids have off that Monday. Then Columbus Day is the next Monday, October 9 so the kids are off twice in two weeks, but no solid break. Like poster above said, we start school in the beginning of September.Mom of Sleepy said:I don't think that will ever happen in NY. I didn't grow up here, but I understand there are things such as "Regents tests" (spelling?). They are at the end of the school year for every public school in the state and they are all given at the same time(same day). That is why we go so late.

They Stink....We don't need them. I took them twenty years ago when I attended Catholic school, but they were optional (I still took them, though). Twenty years have passed and I don't think the Regents have helped to improve anything! All Aboard said:There wasn't a "what the heck is fall break" choice, so I couldn't respond. It's not a thing we have down here in Florida.
