Poll: If you are going during Fall Break, when do your kids have Fall Break 2006?

Our district has 4 days off in Oct., but they are not consecutive.

Our schools don't have fall breaks and will never get them (unless they completely rearrange the scheduling again). But the kids do get, I think, 2 days for Columbus day, 2 days for Veteran's Day, and the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving and the following Friday off.

We do not have a fall break here in Ohio, and we even start before Labor Day. We get one day off for Columbus Day and one day off for Veteran's Day. We do get the Wednesday before Thanksgiving off, too.

Just FYI, we went to WDW last November during "Jersey Week". We didn't think it was that crowded. MK was definitely the busiest park. We were able to walk on many rides, but we did stick to a touring plan. If you are looking for the least crowded time to go, I would try to avoid "Jersey Week." I am guessing this year it falls Nov. 5-12.

We're in Indiana and we do have a fall break. The teacher's get off Wed-Fri for a convention, so it's not a full week, but we fly down to Orlando Tuesday night and fly back Sunday night, so it makes for a nice little Disney get away.

I don't think that will ever happen in NY. I didn't grow up here, but I understand there are things such as "Regents tests" (spelling?). They are at the end of the school year for every public school in the state and they are all given at the same time(same day). That is why we go so late.

No Fall Break here on Long Island, or in the City, either...... But most of the schools up here have off for the Jewish hoidays - Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur. Those holidays are the best when they coincide with Columbus Day because it means longer weekends (and trips to Disney) for us. Like this year, Yom Kippur is on Sunday, October 1 so the kids have off that Monday. Then Columbus Day is the next Monday, October 9 so the kids are off twice in two weeks, but no solid break. Like poster above said, we start school in the beginning of September.
Man! I can't believe the best time of year, with no crowds, has a chance of becoming a more crowded time of year! We're going down the first week of October and judging from the crowds this time (with this Fall break) I hope I don't have to reconsider our Un-Crowded Fall Getaway the next time!

As for the Regents - They Stink....We don't need them. I took them twenty years ago when I attended Catholic school, but they were optional (I still took them, though). Twenty years have passed and I don't think the Regents have helped to improve anything!

There wasn't a "what the heck is fall break" choice, so I couldn't respond . It's not a thing we have down here in Florida.

Not here in our part of Maryland either.

No such thing as a fall break in our part of Canada. In fact, I read the post and thought "Oh, no". Finally, we don't have to go at spring break when it is so busy, and here I have booked our trip during "fall break". LOL At least not everyone has fall break.

Definately a Fall Break here in the UK, mostly running from 23rd to 29th Oct. That's why I'm coming out in October and I know a lot of other UKers that are too

I wouldn't mind that kind of what I would bet (from previous WDW experiences) would be a mostly-very-well-mannered crowd

But, a note to all UK folks-- don't let the fact that it's October fool you: use sunscreen just in case.

My kids are in a year-round school district. Today is the first day of the new school year. They go to school for 9 weeks on and 3 weeks off. This means our fall break begins September 15th and ends October 10th, as they have Columbus Day off on the 9th. We get 3 weeks off at Christmas and another 3 weeks at Easter/spring, and a 6 week summer.

It's taken some adjusting, but I really like the travel options that long fall, winter and spring breaks afford us. It's nice to travel without the stress of getting the homework done or making up missed assignments. On the downside, we have to squeeze summer camps and trips to see family into an abbreviated summer.

We live in a county north of Atlanta, we have Fall Break Sept.18-22.

We will be attending Disney Sept. 16 - 23.

No Fall Break in Southern Ontario either. Our break is at Christmas and a week in March.

Ditto to Stephanie above...I am south of Atlanta, and we do have a fall break from Sept 18-22. A lot of metro Atlanta schools have gone to a "balanced calendar" system. We start school Aug 3, go for 6 weeks and get a week off. Go for another 6 weeks and get Thanksgiving week off. 2 weeks at Christmas, a week off in February, Spring break in April, and out of school before memorial day. It has been wonderful! Even though we have a shorter summer break, it is so wonderful to travel during our fall break...no crowds! Plus having a break after each grading period helps the kids from burning out.

Orange County, FL has a short "Fall" break - Oct 12 & 13 - DD and I are going to MNSSHP on the 12th.... I think I might get us a room at one of the resorts for the night.
