We live in a suburb of Atlanta, our school has been doing fall break for years. I've noticed others around here starting it also. Historically it's the first week of Oct. I've found that a perfect time to hit WDW.

North Florida resident here and we do have a fall break. We live in Santa Rosa county and we should have Oct. 2-6 off. we have had fall break for years now. We LoVE it because of the perfect disney timing! Epcot's F&W,and the MNSSHP!!

We've had a Fall Break for a couple of years now. It has been for only 6 total days, from a Thursday through Tuesday (2 days plus 2 over the weekend plus 2 days). This seemed ridiculous to me. I felt that there has to be a way to move schedules around and make this a 5-day break all during one week so it can also include 4 weekend days. I understand that this is being done for this upcoming fall (2006), but our school system doesn't have the calendar posted on the website yet. Now folks can plan a real vacation.

The past Fall Breaks have started around October 6. I can't vote in the poll since I don't know this year's schedule yet AND we probably won't visit WDW during this time period due to other obligations.

Our fall break here is called "Thanksgiving vacation". That's it.

Typically the week after Columbus Day here-or at the end of the first 90 day grading period. It is a nice time to give the kids a breather and get in a week at the world. Our old school system in Ohio does not have fall break, just a day for parent teacher conferences between Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

We don't have fall break either. We are affected by the dreaded Jersey Week, but in our case the kids only get Nov. 9 & 10 off, not an entire week.

Here in MA, and New England for that matter, I have not heard of any schools with a fall break. A day or two off around Columbus Day Weekend and Veteran's Day and of course Thanksgiving (day before and after off) but no week off in the fall here. We have a week in Feb and a week in April.

Allyson :)

In MA as well and we have a week also between Christmas and New Years (as well as the Winter and Spring breaks).

We don't have a break here in Indiana but my sisters family has one in Tenn. from Oct 9th to Oct 20th. We are going Oct. 14-21st

our fall break is a few days where the teachers get a day off and also go to a conference or something...not a week

Same in Oklahoma.

Two weeks in October; is that a "year-round" school system?

I am not sure if it is a year round school-I know it is a private school so that might be the difference. They have a two week break in March and again in October but I am not sure what the summer break is.

We get Thanksgiving week off here.

I am also from MA and until I started coming to the disboards, I'd never heard of such a thing as a fall break! :rotfl: We have Columbus day off from school to make it a 3 day weekend, but that's it :)

Many schools in the southeastern US have Fall Break the middle two weeks of October. I know many, many families heading down during October 16-22 from my son's school alone. I would go the first week of October or in November if possible.

We live in Putnam County NY, right above Westchester/NYC...for the most part school districts around here give off the Jewish holidays so depending on when they fall you may have quite a few days off. Last year between them and Columbus Day we had four in about 2.5 wks? I didn't plan right though...this year we only have Yom Kippur and Columbus Day. No Veteran's Day because it falls on a weekend this year. Looking ahead to next year I'm hoping for free dining...the kids will have off at least 3 days I'm guessing in Sept...perfect for a trip (just need to convince DH) :)
