It could also have something to do with how often you have stayed on property. I know my cm mentioned the fact that we were there last year when I was booking my original reservation. It is all in their computer. We have stayed on property 6 years in a row.

Just wondering--for those of you who received the upgrade email had you already paid off your package or just had down the deposit? Also was the upgrade only for those people who booked directly with Disney (we booked through DU) or did any of you book through a TA?

Congrats to everyone that got the upgrade!!!!!!!:thumbsup2

I also booked through Disney reservations when the FDP was first announced.

Gee, the only e-mail I got from Disney was a survey. I've been about a dozen times, booked through Disney, paid it off & would love to upgrade from Music, we also are renting a car. Oh well, I'm happy for all of you who got it. Enjoy!:goodvibes

Ok, now that I went back & read all the posts, I see that I wouldn't get the offer since I'm going the first 2 weeks of Sept.

We were booked before the free dining came out and orginally even had the dining plan on our reservation. We just called it in to up grade. We even had our ADR's before free dining came out. We are in Michiagn by the way and both our ressies were paid off, I just think it is the luck of the draw. But we also stayed at PoP last year March 2006. so who knows???!!!! I'm just totally excited!!!!!!!!!!

:confused3 thats me!
I still can't make up my mind. As of now we are staying at OKW in a 1 bdroom I'm thinking that maybe we should switch to SSR.The more I read reviews/picture I'm starting to like SSR more. I know that the rooms are smaller at SSR but with our family the size will be fine. I like the idea of being closer to DTD to eat and that there are more options for CS at SSR.The main reason why I chose OKW is for the theming of the tropics but with our scheldule we will only have 1 morning to enjoy the resort.(can't convince DH to take breaks in the afternoon.)Last yr we used the pool at our resort 1 time our whole 11 day trip. We've have been debating about renting a car or having grocery delivered for bk items and thinking if we stay at SSR we won't need to.Any help is desperatly needed A.S.A.P,
Laura

it is my understanding that all the rooms for upgrades are gone and even if you are at OKW on a upgrade, if the SSR rooms are gone, I would think that they would not let you switch. Just guessing, but you still got a great place at OKW.

I called today and they said that they could switch me if I wanted to. I'm not sure if it's because of my dates or for how long I'm staying(13 nites).Maybe they had someone cancel or switch. I know that others have said they couldn't get a certain type of room at the resorts.
I still need help deciding please

I say switch to SSR! Only because that's what we did, so I'm a little partial to that decision. ;)

But seriously, either way you know you'll have a great time. 13 nights in WDW?? How could you not enjoy it? Whichever resort you end up in, I'm sure you will find things that you just love about it. As my dad says, it'll ruin you for all future trips.

We will enjoy wherever we stay.I was reading reviews on allears and OKW did not get good reviews. I have a hard time makeing up my mind on anything(you should see how long it took me to decide where to eat)Each resort has its pros and cons. I think this is so hard because I have never thought about these 2 resorts before. If you were to ask me which mod or deluxe resort I could tell you in a second(CB or Boardwalk) Boardwalk is cheaper than 1 bdroom at OKW but I don't think they would let me switch to one of those.I just watched the 2007 DVC DVD and you could only see SSR on the tour they just showed a picture of OKW.To me they were really trying to sell SSR(probably because it just opened)
Does anyone know the last time OKW was renovated since 1990 when it opened? Most of the review complaints I read were about how worn and dingy the rooms were(most reviews were around 2003-2005)with a few in 2007. I don't mean to put the resort down (so no flames) I have never been their before so I'm just relying on what I have read.Thats why I have come to these boards to get more accurate info from all you experts out their. The pix I have seen here posted make the resort look so beautiful. That's why I can't decide.

I am at SSR with a studio. I have been trying to upgrade to a one bedroom. Called again and was told there is nothing at all available for the upgrade promotion.

We were given a 1 BR at OKW. DH really doesn't like the look of SSR. We live in Upstate NY about 20 mins from the real SS. So we picked OKW. I can't wait.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I'm still in shock...on what was supposed to be a budget trip we are staying at AKL (thank you 40%off pin) five nights 8/21-8/26 then moving over to 1 BR villa @ OKW for 10 nights ($82 a night:scared1:) 8/26-9/4 with free dining.

We are also from upstate NY and just got upgraded yesterday to a studio at OKW for 8/27 to 9/4 with free dining. I think we are going to try the Pirates and Princesses party and cut back on our park tickets so that we can spend more time hanging out at OKW.

We are in Clifton Park, not far from Nisky at all!!! We are going to the PPP on 8/28. pirate: We are flyng SW out of Albany. Gotta love a $69 nonstop flight(I'm still hoping for a $49 DING ;) ). I'm still freaking out over this whole upgrade thing. Congrats on the upgrade. :wizard: isn't it AWESOME!!!! Maybe, we'll run into each other at the pool.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Everyone that I work with lives up in Clifton Park or Burnt Hills but I love Nisky because I only have a 10 minute drive to work in the AM. I'm still trying to decide if we should go to Pirates and Princesses on the 28th or the 31st, maybe it would be better to do it earlier in the trip because my 5 year old DD wouldn't be as tired out yet. We got $59 flights with SW when they first put the internet special rates on the web. I'm so psyched about the upgrade because we have only stayed onsite at the POP the last 2 years.:cloud9:

LOL.:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: You know I'm cheap!!! I saw you post about your $59 flights and I thought in my best Eddie Murphy imitation "$59, $59...those lucky dogs" :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

God, I've gotta get off these boards.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Also from upstate NY. Wow $59 flight. I always hear about people getting those cheap flights, but I never see any. When did you book it??? Congrats on that!!!!

My DH actually booked in April at $109 and then I checked the SW website every day when I got to work until they posted the $59 rates which was on May 4th. I rebooked the same flights right away and got a big refund on our credit card. :cool1: Last year we weren't as lucky, the rates went down but we didn't watch it closely enough so our flights were booked up already. We had to switch flights/dates around to get the cheaper rate and we ended up having to take a $400+ SW credit.

We were offered the same e-mail and upgrade at the end of March/beginning of April. For about a week, the e-mail code didn't work for the CMs, although they knew of the promotion. Finally, we got booked at OKW. When we checked in, they had us under three seperate reservations; 2 for studios and one for a one bedroom. It was 10:30PM when we checked in so I was in no mood for more hassle! After a while "backstage" the CM appeared and said everything was fine and checked us in. Imagine our surprise when we walked into a 1 bedroom!!!! We actually lost things in there because there was so much area and so much room! We paid $130 for the room and it would've cost about $600 if we'd paid the resort price. Best upgrade we've ever gotten!!! Now I'm in love with OKW on a value budget!!!
