Okay, let it be so!

I'd at least like a woman to get the chance for heaven's sake!! So strange that it's taking so long in this "progressive" country. I'm not a militant feminist, but I sure would have thought it would be happening by now.

E.

But what woman? Hilary? She's changed so much I don't even know what she stands for anymore. (I'm female by the way)

I don't see any strong women candidates out there right now, I don't even see any strong democrat candidates out there yet!

Dang, all of these people saying that they should have voted for Gore. Where were you when we needed you? ;)

My initial opinion of him when he was elected was negative, and has only declined since.
There aren't words to express my opinion of him now. Just a feeling of resigned horror, I guess.

I feel like we let the world down by putting George Bush in office.

He's not even a good politician. I still don't understand how he got there

TONS of corporate money funding his campaigns which included :

1. the continuous repetition of catch phrases and words like "terrorists" "conservative" "Christian" "family values" "bring them to justice" "9-11", etc...

2. the smear campaigns of the likes of the Swift Boat fools.

3. the habitual raising of "terror" alerts (funny how we haven't had a single one of those in months...."

4. the use of Diebold voting machines without paper trails - from a company whose executive promised to "deliver the Ohio votes to the republicans" (and they did).

5. the use of republican die hards in important positions (Secretary of State snake in Ohio whose actions practically gave the state to Bush...and Katherine Harris, secretary of state in Florida, whose actions gave the state of Florida to Bush in 2000)

6. And probably the most disappointing of all, a democratic party unwilling to call the SOBs on any of their crap. Which leads me to believe that they are all actually in on it together.

I voted for Bush and my opinion has not changed. What this President has faced in his administration no other President has had to deal with. I guess I could listen to all the news channels and buy into all the hate. I choose not too. I live in Michigan. I watched a report on people from Iraq living in Dearborn, MI. The day after Saddam was toppled they were dancing in the streets. They could not have been happier. They saw hope for their country. Now when they showed them today, they were all disgusted. "Why is the U.S. still there?" 'Why can't the people of Iraq take back their country?" I wonder if they know what our soldiers have endured for their freedom? Now the U.S. is no good. Our own people voice this on a daily basis. " The President is evil." "Shame on America." Is this sentiment something I'm going to buy into? Absolutley not. I am proud of the country I live in. I feel very lucky that I live here. I know Bush is doing all he can for this country. My big question is,"Who in their right mind would want this job?"

It's been nearly four years since the invasion. Four years and the US still hasn't trained a single Iraqi unit to take over for the US troops. Not a single one. Now, you tell me, why is this? Are the Iraqis that incompetent? Is our military that incompetent? Or perhaps, for some bizzaro-world reason, the US doesn't "want" to train them?

Seems like I remember John Kerry proposing a plan to train the Iraqi troops in an undisclosed location OUTSIDE of Iraq so there wouldn't be any distractions (like bombs). Sounds like a good idea. If the US really wants to train these folks so they can rule their own country....

My opinion hasn't really changed because I never really liked him in the first place hence my signature. His smugness bugs me to no end. I am thankful I am not one to blame for him being in office since I didn't vote for him either time. He hasn't done one thing since being re-elected to make this country better. Our deficit is higher, medicare is totally jacked up, people died or lost everything because he didn't care enough to help them in their time of need during Hurricane Katrina and our countries credibility is sinking every single day. Soon we will have more enemies than friends if this keeps going the way it is. I find losing almost 3000 troops in this war reprehensible on every level. Families sacrificing loved ones for what? A country that doesn't seem to really want democracy based on the way they are acting. We still can't find OBL and I highly doubt it is a true priority now. 2008 won't come fast enough for me!

I was against the Iraq war based on my beliefs that people and countries have a right to bear arms and only lose that right if they have misused the arms.

Huh?

Could you please explain how SH didn't misuse the weapons he had?

I'm a Libertarian, so Bush's policies on domestic spying and limiting our "rights" has me completely disgusted with this administration. I was against the war from day 1. I knew it was a mistake. I supported our troops (My brother was one of them), but I was and still am against the war. I have never been more embarrassed to have a President like Bush. He's incompetent, secretive, anti-middle class, reckless and just downright dangerous. Our jobs are being taken overseas. We are in deep debt (Hey, Clinton did have us in the Plus column briefly), our men and women are coming home from Iraq missing limbs and with deep physcological damage, gas prices hit an all time high. Many thousands are still homeless after Katrina, with no hope in sight, our privacy doesn't really exist anymore and the gap between the poor and the wealthy is bigger than ever.

It puzzles me as to why people couldn't see it before the 2004 election. I personally know some Republican's who are thoroughly disgusted with this President.

I voted for him twice and would again. I don't agree with all his decisions (ports, spending), but I think he's done a decent job under VERY difficult circumstances. I'm glad he was president on 9/11.

What the Heck said:
Unfortunately, I don't think we will get a chance for a moderate from either party. In 2008 we will either get Hillary vs. Condi, or something along the lines of the standard far left Democrat against the far left Republican.

Don't give up hope on that yet.

There has been quite a buzz about former Virginia Governor Mark Warner running for the Democratic nomination. He was a Democrat elected in a largely conservative southern state and left office with a very high approval rating (I think it was in the high 60's). He would have easily been re-elected if not for that &%#@$& one term limit that Virginia has.

Under his term, Virginia was ranked one of the best run states in the US.

He was able to appeal to both Democrats and Republicans and worked very well with the Republican dominated legislature. If any potential candidate could appeal to both sides, Warner definitely can.

No. I thought he was a pompous horses behind and a stubborn mule with no diplomatic skills whatsoever and not enough mental skills to run our country. I wouldn't have thought it would be possible to think any worse of him but I thought wrong!!! He's just one calamity after the next......

voted for him the first time. started to see the error of my ways (and his entire administration) about mid 2003, was profoundly depressed when he won yet again in 2004. Not sure our country will survive another three years of this.

Gives you an excuse to cash in that IRA and take a last trip to Disney World.

Of course if somehow you're wrong and if by some wild miracle the United States does indeed survive then you're screwed.

You might wanna hedge your bets.

My opinion has changed. From mediocre to sad. Still better than the alternative in 04 however.

John Kerry was an old phony gigolo, I don't see how that's worse than a warmonger.
