We are 2 adults, 0 kids, and were wondering if THIS time we should take midday breaks.

We usually go to the parks very early in the morning, and then stay until closing!!!

I remember in 99 we were very tired and after the parks closed, we would go
OUT and eat dinner somewhere else!!!!

What should we do? Do you take Breaks?

Where to you go to? Can you give me a scenario of what time you take your break and what you do? Do you think this takes away from your park touring time???

We used to stay all day, mainly during our first trip there. However, there was one trip where we suffered from extreme jet lag, and we really HAD to take breaks! I guess part of it was that since we'd been to the parks before, we didn't really have to be so commando about it, and we started to enjoy the other things WDW has to offer like the resorts.

So sometimes if we were really tired, we'd go back to the room for a nap, but most times we'd just go visit some of the other resorts that were nearby. I staretd collecting pressed pennies, so we find those, visit the shops, etc.

What I did last trip and will do again this October is to split the day in half...go to one park in the morning, a different one in the afternoon. Somehow that seems less tiring to me.

My husband and I have no children, so our first trip in Nov 2003 was a "no kids" trip.

I voted for option 3, sometimes.

Our touring schedule really depended on how tired we were. The first day we went to Epcot at opening, did most of FW and moved on to World Showcase. We had lunch about 1:00 and then headed back for a nap and a swim (hadn't arrived until after 10PM the night before). We went back to Epcot for dinner at LeCellier around 6:00PM and then stayed for Illuminations. So that day we took a break, we were tired from getting in so late.

The Saturday of our trip (next to the last day) we got a later start and had breakfast on the Boardwalk at Spoodles about 10AM. From there we went into Epcot, then took the Monorail to MK in the afternoon. Had dinner in the Plaza Resturant and stayed for Wishes and Spectro. Didn't leave MK until after 11:00PM. Didn't need a break that day.

But the next day we didn't go to the parks at all. We did the HOB Gospel brunch, went back to our room and slept all afternoon. Went to O'Hana for a last dinner. We needed a resting day after such a full day on Sat.

Wow, that is a long answer for a short question (sorry). For us it really just depends on our energy levels. It's no fun to be to tired at WDW

Hiya

There just Chris and I and we tend to stay all day, unless we take a couple of hours at the water park

We're empty nesters (early 40s) and still take midday breaks.

You see, we're early risers at home (the alarm goes off at 5 AM) and it's hard to break that habit on vacation - plus, we're usually excited to get up and get going. Also, we like to be at a park at opening - we find the rope drop kind of fun, and like the shorter lines. So we get up early and go early - and get tired early; when you wake up at 6 AM and have 3 or 4 hours of heavy touring, a break can be nice (around noon or 1 PM, depending on park opening). We always stay on-site, so we just head back to our room (or now, our DVC Villa) and relax for a few hours: sometimes we swim, sometimes we just rest our toesies. Then we're up and atom again, hitting a park, or dinner, or the Boardwalk, or DTD, or PI or.... We like the parks early in the morning and late at night.

Of course, this is not our first WDW trip - as DVC owners, we come back at least yearly - so we don't have the need to cram as much as we can into a once.in.a.lifetime trip.

Have fun!

We are in our 50's and I never take a break,
you snooze you loose.
If we get tired I just hop to another park and
go get em.:earsboy:

We are also 2 Adults with no kids and we usually get up early, and end our day early. We usually schedule a really nice dinner and then enjoy the Broadwalk or Downtown in the evening. I just find that we are much more relaxed and ready to go the next day.

Empty nesters here too (late 40s/early 50s) and ALWAYS yes to mid-day breaks. We eat lunch at the parks, then head back to the resort, lay by the pool and enjoy an adult beverage, maybe take a little snooze in the pool chair, shower and back to the parks for the evening. When we do the ALL DAY routine, we get cranky.

We're in our 30's and we definitely take breaks. Sometimes we go resort hopping and get a meal at a differnt resort. Usually, we just relax in the room, take a shower and even a nap if we feel like it. We also love to just hang out by the pool and have a drink. I sometimes think the adults need the breaks more than the kids!:D

We're in our 50's and when DW and I go alone we always take an afternoon break.. My DW takes a nap and I read the paper, do a crossword and have a rum or two before dinner. We just can't go like we used too!! (and don't want to.)

We are in our 20's and we always take an afternoon break. We usually head back to the resort for lunch and a quick swim and to change our shoes. I have foud that changing shoes help me from getting blisters. We usaully hit two parks everyday that way we aren't rushing to get it all in in one day, we know we'll be back. :)

DH and I are in our 50's-60's and find that stopping to smell the roses has become a priority on our visits. We always take a break away from the parks after lunch for either a nap or just to relax at the resort. This seems to make us appreciate the parks more since we are not as tired. We usually return to the parks about 3 and spend the evening doing either the parks or a nice diner some where. Being tired just takes the fun out of the day.

We have been going to WDW, every year, since 71. (no kids)

The length of our stay has always been a minimum of 10 days...(gets longer the older I get) ....always stayed on property...even before purchasing our DVC.

We enjoy and anticipate mid-day "attitude adjustment" time, enjoy the pool, have a nice lunch, nap, then enjoy the evening out.

A WDW vacation is always a relaxing adventure to me........

::yes::

We take mid-day breaks when the park hours are longer. We like to return to the room, rest and/or nap, maybe use the pool. If MK is closing around 6pm we tend to use a break in the parks, or use Disney transportation as a break (boat from MGM to Epcot, monorails, etc.) We are both in our mid-50's, and have finally given up commando touring. I like to hit the parks first thing and have a brunch around 10:30. That's what we'll do on our last day of Don's extravagant birthday trip!

THANKS FOR ALL THE RESPONSES TO MY POST!!! KEEP EM COMING!!!!

NOW YOU ARE ALL MAKING ME THINK! :scratchin:

Now if I did squeeze in a midday break :sunny: what would WE do ? (We are staying at the Hawthorn Suites - what would we do there??? as opposed to staying at the Caribbean beach resort??? :boat: - which we had an offer, about $238 more for the week special.) :scratchin:

We decided against CBR bec. of the exterior rooms and long walk(s) to the parking lot, and possibly beach area;:boat: we were not allowed to choose an area, since it was a special (king bed room) they would put us wherever they wanted.

Plus Hawthorn has a Free Deluxe Breakfast buffet each morning, and that is the
HIGHLIGHT :cloud9: of any Hotel stay for me because:
1. That motivates us to get us up and out early and eat breakfast, say 7am
2. We can sit and talk about our plans for the day :moped:
3. It gives us energy for the day :cheer2:
4. It's Free! :cutie:

Now that I'm much older (32) I do get tired midday and am worried that I will get tired or burned out or WORSE :faint: Sick of Disney?? :faint: I hope that this
IS NOT even possible - is it? :faint:

Hi,

It is just my husband and I and we enjoy our afternoon pool and nap time as we call it. We head down to the bus stop or boat dock depending on where we are staying around 8:45am head to our park of choice and then whenever we start feeling tired usually between 1pm and 2pm we grab the bus or the boat back to our resort head down to the pool for awhile and then back to the room for a nap. Then we shower change an head out for dinner and the rest of the night between 5pm and 6pm. Back in the early 90's we would be out from open till close and then we discovered the joy of the afternoon pool and nap time break. It is truely a beautiful thing.

Hope you enjoy your tirp.

IMHO...it is much more difficult to take that afternoon break if you are not staying on site. My above post reflects my on site experience.

The convenience of on-site is a priority for me, but, the Hawthorne sounds good for you especially for the breakfast perk.

You can go back to the "H", or, if it were me, I'd probably break @ one of the WDW hotels and maybe...rest in the lobby of the GF, listen to the piano player, Pina colada's in the Poly are great ... etc.

Oh...to be 32 again......:faint: :faint: :faint:

We usually take a break mid-day and go back to our room to eat a late lunch. Gives us time to rest and saves money too since we're not eating in the park.

We are empty nesters in our mid 40's. We don't break away from the parks, we will stop and have a nice relaxing lunch and (don't laugh), pick a ride that we can take a short little power nap on..such as It's a small world. HA HA. Sometimes we just need that quick few minutes to be re-energized. But we don't want to miss a minute of our time to go back to the room.

We only take a break if we are park hopping. The drive or monorail to the new park is our rest...

Now we do have AP's now and we have been know to go for a half day if we have the time...
