Original post:

Hi, :)

We are renting points for 5 nights in mid October Sun-Thurs at SSR Studio (no views requested). We are waitlisted at studios in BCV,BWV,AKV, and VWL. I realize since it is F&W, it will be slim to no pickin's in Epcot and I also realize there is a strong possibility that no waitlists will come through at all. We are beyond ok with that and are planning our trip with the assumption that we will be at SSR (looking forward to it and already doing my "resort research") ~ any waitlist coming through would be icing on the cake.

So the resortaholic in me has to ask:
1. If you had to guess, and I realize it's only a guess, which resort studio, if any, would be most likely come through on a waitlist?

Second question:
2. What are the odds that a waitlist will come through at all during F&W?

Looking forward to staying in a DVC for the first time. Thanks for any help. TBM

Anybodys guess. The larger resorts tend to come through more often. There are so many factors involved that you just never know.

How many requests ahead of you?
Who will get sick and cancel?
Who will get fired from their job?
Who won't be able to afford vacation?

I am enjoying checking the poll. Thanks to those who have participated so far. I appreciate it. Hope to see even more activity. This is fun for me to see what other people think.

I assumed BCV would be most difficult. I know BWV is an Epcot resort, but I have read where people have had some luck at BWV with waitlists. I wasn't sure what to think about AKL with the construction, and I figured WLV was a long shot due to its size.

Oh I am waitlisted also , however after speaking with MS...I have a lil hope, he says as airfare grows and and the price of a vacation this fall that he expects to see more and more cancelations....he said he couldn't tell me how many times he has had guests wanting to downsize due to brother cant get airfare. So heres in high hopes of a GV for me...yeah I am wishing big,LOL

I'd think most people have airfare booked by now for their trip. There may be some drivers that cancel, but the issue with DVC points is that they are "use or loose" - cancelling is going to be a last resort thing.

Can only answer this one for you....DH & I travel frequently during F&W and have always had our waitlist come through. However......we always get a 1BR and I believe that makes a big difference. Not sure how well you'll do waitlisting for a studio.

We're staying at SSR at the end of F&W and would like to switch to BW or BC for a 2-bedroom. So far, no luck. Hopefully there's still plenty of time for people to cancel.

Sending you some pixiedust:!

Enjoying the replies to the poll, Everyone. :)

I said other, your best bet would be to look at OKW for a room, just like SSR it is one of the bigger DVC resorts. And from past experience when we have had trouble booking our home resort on short notice (BCV) or for that matter BWV (we like to stay near Epcot) OKW has always been available to book.

Hi, Thanks for posting. We actually do already have our reservation for SSR all set to go. That is the home resort of the person I rented the points from, so luckily, I do have that in place and am not waitlisted at SSR, but it's nice to have that OKW info. :thumbsup2

We are really looking forward to trying a DVC studio for the first time. I remember passing SSR when it was being built. Love the colors. :)

Thanks for the info. :thumbsup2

I will not forget to post back closer to our trip to let you all know what, if anything, came through. While I usually like to know well in advance where I am staying, I am looking at this as something of a surprise, since I won't be off the waitlist until 7 days prior. Until then, having fun doing my SSR research.

Please feel free to put in your vote if you haven't already. Thanks a bunch! TM

Wow...really we never buy or tixs over 60 days at the most, havent for the Sept or Oct trip yet. The families joining us havent...and "use loose or bank." That is what I am in high hopes of happening and with MS answering the phone each day I suppose he is dealing with those families that dont buy so far in advance.....I would pay tripple for airfare before i drive but I live over 12 hours away lol.:rotfl2:

We have ressies for a 2 bedroom at SSR for Oct 19-24 and are waitlisted for BCV. I'm assuming that some owers are holding ressies at BCV & BWV in hopes of selling them for big $$ because of F&W Fest. We don't want BCV because of it's proximity to Epcot, but more because we've never stayed there and want to try it out. We're also perfectly happy at SSR since we usually spend a few nights at DTD. The decor of the rooms at SSR is VERY nice and relaxing.

We live a 24 hour drive away - and buy our airfare when it comes out a year in advance. With oil prices going up, I can't imagine many people are waiting to see if tickets are going to get LESS expensive this year (mine sure haven't - the tickets I bought for $300 for our October trip at Thanksgiving are now $700!)

I, too, am hoping to try BCV some time because we have never stayed there and wanted to try out SAB (did do YC in '97). Actually, since it's just DGS9 and myself, we will not even be going to F&W, lol. We would also love to try BWV because we love the way it looks and there's that clown slide, ;). AKV because DGS loves animals and I love the looks of the lodge. WLV, because we enjoyed our stay at WL the last time and enjoy the close proximinity to MK. But all that aside, SSR has the zero entry pool, is a fairly new resort, and DGS and I love to try new resorts, so it's all win win.

wow 24 hours.....glad not to be that far, yeah we never buy ours out too far..a few months at most, I use kayak and have saved by buying later, we are blessed with the airlines we have to choose from...alligiant and southwest...we ay between 49 and 99 each way...my DH had to fly down 2 times last week to drop dd off at camp and we did not buy his return tix til the nite prior....but we are never faced with outrageous tix prices...but if they keep going up like you say it just makes me even have more hope for cancelations and banking.....which is bad for someone else but good for me cause I need a bigger home this year....yeah!!!:goodvibes

I just bought our air tix for Oct a few days ago when SWA had a mini "sale." I was worried that they would keep going up and they have, so when I saw the sale, and I use the term lightly, lol, I bit the bullet. I didn't get a very good deal, sticker shock and all, but like someone else on the board said, for round trip, "$300 is the new $200." Sheesh, I paid $189 one way on one of the legs when "back in the day" I could get it for sometimes $54-$74. Heck, if I could flap my arms to fly out to Disney, I'd start lifting weights today. ;)

Thanks for the voting in the poll. I am really enjoying watching the results. Please vote if you haven't yet. :)

Anyone else want to do the poll? It's fun for me to check the results. Thanks a bunch!
Have a Happy 4th of July! :thumbsup2 TM

I would think AK as new units are finished and put into inventory.
