You may have luck wtih BWV. Our waitlists for BWV have always come through but we are usually on the waitlist right from the 7 month mark. I did have to make a few mid summer changes as few years ago and those waitlists also came through.

Either way you will have a great time. SSR is a great resort and Food and Wine is a lot of fun.

Thanks for the info and encouragement! :) We would love to stay at BWV. I believe the person we rented the points from (a friend of someone in our family) had us on the waiting list right at the 7 month mark, so it will really be a surprise for us, where we end up. By the time we leave, though, I hope to know a lot more about SSR than I do now. :)

good luck, we're currently booked 10/18 thru 10/22

i called MS yesterday re availability up switching things around (going to cancel 1st 2 days of studio @ AKV since i booked the Portofino/Universal:goodvibes .

thought i might just be able to upgrade our view from value to standard/savannah or concierge or a 1 BR for the remaing 3nights since i had extra points...no go...as i expected

only a couple isolated nights @ OKW in a 1 BR, everything else is booked

I'd think most people have airfare booked by now for their trip. There may be some drivers that cancel, but the issue with DVC points is that they are "use or loose" - cancelling is going to be a last resort thing.

I spend a lot of time on the transporatation board.

I don't think a lot of people have booked airfare. There is a large segment of Disney travelers that think $59 each way is the "appropriate" airfare and are holding out for some great sale (that I don't think they are going to get!)

The other thing that I see happening over there is that people are having real issues with flight schedule changes meaning they have to adjust thier vacations. MidWest is dumping the entire MD80 fleet which flew all their flights to MCO, AirTran is making HUGE schedule modifications, DL is making modifications etc. Several travelers have just cancelled because they can't get flights that now work with thier requirments, time limits etc....

Now will this impact DVC since the lodging is "paid" for? I don't know?

I would guess you will be staying at SSR.

However, I do believe that VWL would be a maybe. We had changed our dates on year during Oct and F&W and we were able to get VWL for 10 days straight.

Thanks for posting. Hmmmmm..... sounds like it is really hit or miss, especially with F&W. Sorry the upgrade didn't work out, especially for just those few nights. Have fun at AKV and Portofino!!!

This is encouraging as I thought since VWL was tiny, it was unlikely. I know we'd be thrilled with VWL. Thanks for posting. :)

We have almost 3 months of suspense!!!! :hyper:

Well, here we are with only one more week to be on the waiting list and so far, we are still booked at SSR. As of yet, none of the waitlists have come through. I've been on the wait list since March, I believe.

Two weeks before we leave for this trip. If any of my waitlists come through, I'll update here. If not, we will be having a great time at SSR. :thumbsup2 Tink

Thanks for the update! Have a great time, wherever!

I just got back from SSR. We stayed in the Grandstand section and it was great!! Do you have kids? Ours loved the pool area at the grandstand and it was never really busy. Don't forget to go over to Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD. We had some really great food there. I hope you enjoy your trip!! And I am kind of surprised that your waitlist did not come through for you since you were waitlisted at 7 months out.

I was actually thinking of requesting the grandstand section as well. It is only my grandson and myself this trip. The pools are a pretty important part of his vacation experience. :)

Thanks for the tips on Earl of Sandwich and Wolfgang Puck Express at DTD. :thumbsup2

I'm kind of surprised none of the waitlists came through too. We are not the DVC owners, so I was not privy to the waitlist info. We paid a lump sum for resort, through a friend of a family member, so I could certainly understand it if the DVC owner would only accept a waitlist from a resort which costs less points to rent than SSR.

Well, I will update either way and plan on taking a ton of pictures!

Thanks for the well wishes, tink

Ok, after checking the points per night during our stay for each DVC resort, it would be advantageous to the DVC owner if waitlists came through for AKL or BWV since they use less points per night than SSR. This way, since I paid a lump sum for my stay (at a nice price I might add) the DVC owner would use less points if one of those resorts came through on the waitlist over SSR, I believe. Is that correct? Sorry if I have this info wrong, I am very new to renting points. Thanks! tink

Nope, you have that wrong. BWV would be more than SSR unless you got the standard view and that is only about 20% of the resort. If you got AKV value or standard view, it would be less, but if you got Savanna view, it would be more.

At this late date, if the new reservation was less points the remainder would go into a holding account, which can only be reserved 60 days before arrival and will expire at the end of the use year. It could be hard for the member to use them.

Waitlists expire at 30 days prior. Do you know if the member extended them?

Yep. I was basing the price on the BWV standard view. Thanks for the info! :)

Thanks, I did not know that. Based on that info, I think it is not surprising that the waitlists did not come through. I certainly wouldn't want the owner to lose the points and I'm sure she wouldn't want that to happen either.

Hmmmm... I thought I was on the waitlist until 7 days prior to our stay. I believe that is what the owner said.

Well, knowing what I know now, I am pretty sure we are staying at SSR. We got a great deal and we are so looking forward to staying there.
Thanks for the info.

You'll have a great time at SSR. It's a beautiful resort with lots of plusses. Two themed pools, walking distance to DTD, just a bus away from all the other parks. They have the best chocolate cake at Artist's Palette that you can buy in single serving packs. I think my son ate several of those the last time we stayed at SSR.

Thanks for the info. :) I thought I read numerous times that some folks had their waitlist come through a week before they left. Maybe I got that info wrong.
