Politics and Trick or Treating?

There was a group of parents and kids tonight that went trick or treating. Our kids are all 4th grade and younger to the age of 3.

We go to one of the parent's neighbor's house.

The kids all walk up, say trick or treat, and as the wife is giving out candy the husband screams "See we are sharing the wealth" and starts laughing.


I just could not believe it. Good grief, it is a night for the kids to have fun.

Luckily we had zero instances of anything related to politics. Whew!

we hadthe house around the block - they had 4 tombstones on the front lawn, one said Obama, one said Biden, the next just said = and the last said death for the USA.
But we did have religious freaks hand out some kind of religious pamphlet for trick or treating, I just took it out of my daughters bag and tossed it back on their step.

On the local news this a.m., they had a story about a woman who asked every family who came to her door who they supported. If they replied "Obama", she shut the door in their faces.

Now, while I might agree in general with her political opinion (she told the reporter she thinks "Obama is scary"), I definitely do NOT agree with turning what is supposed to be a fun night for kids into some sort of bizarro political statement that ultimately just punishes the little ones and alienates everyone. What on earth was she thinking?!
