Hello all. First of all, thanks to all who have contributed here! It has been a big help in the purchase of my first contract (just passed ROFR at VGC for 107 points.)

I would just like to hear from some people in my same boat who have just bought enough points for them to go on a nice stay every other year. Have you been happy with this or are you always looking out for an opportunity to add more points?

IMO newbies go through a period of vacationing at Disney more for the first several years, maybe buying additional contracts, then cutting back and maybe skipping years.

I completely agree with disneynutz -- As a fairly new owner (end of 2015) I bought points to go every other year in a 1BR for my family - I get itchy at times to add on so that we can go more often (have actually put in an offer, but thankfully was declined), but then i try to remind myself that the goal is to go often, but still have off years to explore other areas of the country.

Our contract will suit us for taking the kids until they are grown and out of the house -- once gone then we can use our points for a yearly adult only trip, but i am thinking that the kids (even when they become adults) will still want to join us.

If our situation changes we will add if needed but a 120 point contract is perfect without having outrageous MF every year.

Thanks guys. Great points

We bought enough points at VGF to do a studio for 10 days a year, or a 1BR for 5 days a year, which was plenty for our needs then.
We added on when our grandson came along and brought our numbers for our extended family to six. We had such a good time with our adult children in the 1BR, that we knew we would need a 2 BR when grandson turned 3, so we pulled the trigger.

We've been happy with enough points for every other year. But I think its rare - because the decision to buy DVC usually comes during a "Disney is perfect for us" time in your life - and taking advantage of those years when the kids are just the right age is SO tempting.

Now, we actually think we have a few too many points. We only go every other year, and don't want to be at Disney for an entire week, and I hate crowds, so we are never there during high points seasons. And our son is well past Disney interest - our daughter still enjoys it (she is seventeen).

Same boat here. Don't love big crowds. We've typically gone in mid to late May in the past and it has been decent. Love that the DVC rooms at my home resort VGC are really close and have a nice pool area we can just go relax in when the parks get too busy!

We just purchased last year and our intent is to travel every 2-3 years. Don't get me wrong, we have already discussed buying another contract but the reality is a yearly trip would be a big budget buster for us. If the time comes we have the means to travel more frequently then we will add on.
