I am planning a trip to Disneyland in early June. I rented points last year for a stay at VWL. I need to know how many points I would need to rent two reserve 2 rooms at the DLH or GC. June 8-13 (su-Th).
Sure we can share it. Points for non-DVC locations, though, are usually pretty high.
For DLH June 8 to 13:
Standard View 95 points per room
Permium View 105 points per room
Concierge 170 points per room
GC:
Standard View 120 points per room
Downtown Dis view 135 points per room
DCA or pool view 145 points per room
Concierge Garden view 210 points per room
Concierge DCA/Pool view 215 points per room

Please note that these are point *TOTAL* for the entire stay and *NOT* a per night point quote. Mid-June is peak season in DLR and I'll be surprised if you can get anything better than a 10% discount off rack rates, which run ~$300 per night at Disneyland Hotel and ~$400 per night at Grand California. Therefore, I consider using points at DLR hotels at peak period an exception to the rule of thumb that using points at non-DVC resorts is not a good value. In fact, I have one contract where I save the points only for use at DLR hotels for July and a couple of nights during Christmas week. Also, you will not be charged the $95 reservation fee if you book by end of January.
The room quote from Disneyland at the DLH is $1300 (+ tax) for those nights, standard view.
At $12 pp rental thats $1140, a savings of $160, plus whatever the tax would be. Given that most rentals have no refund policy, and that if the renter changes plans the owners points would go into reservation status, I think it is risky for both parties to this transaction.
Reservations at the eight Disney Vacation Club Resorts and the three resort hotels at Disneyland Resort in California will not require a transaction fee.
Disney reservations quotes DLH 2 rooms premium view June 8-13 as $3036 with a AAA discount. It would take 210 points to reserve these rooms through DVC. At $12 per point that's $2550. A savings of $486. That would allow us to do more in the parks like eat at the Blue Bayou. I get the feeling that DVC members are reluctant to rent points to someone for this type reservation? I can understand - a great deal of trust would be required. I had such an awesome experience renting last Aug. for a great stay at the VWL I was hoping to replicate for this vacation. Thanks for all your posts.

The problem for members with this type of reservaton is simply this:
If something were to go wrong, and the reservation needed to be canceled, there are restrictions placed upon points that are used outside of DVC resorts. The points could no longer be used at a DVC resort, but only for exchanges to the Disney collection (cruise/Disneyland/regular WDW resort, etc.) So much of the value of those points is lost.
