Points banking question

Well silly me for assuming that we wouldn't need the remainder of our points and I banked them. Now we may schedule a trip in July (Aug is our use year) and will need those points back as well as a few from 2007. Will we be able to borrow our banked points?

No, you can't borrow the banked points but you could borrow regular points (points for use year 2007).

As DebbieB said, you can borrow points from your '07 UY but just be sure that you won't need to cancel the trip. If you cancel, those borrowed points stay in your '06 UY and will expire at the end of July '07.

Not to pour salt on the wound, but you had until February to bank those points up to 100%. So in the future, you might want to bank closer to the banking deadline to give yourself the most flexibility with your points.

Probably something you already knew...but thought I'd point it out just in case. Good luck with your trip planning.

Just adding to Lisa's comment. She's right. You have to be very careful if you need to cancel a trip toward the end of your Use Year. If you use borrowed points, they will need to be used for "something" before the end of your Use Year. 60 days from the end of your Use Year is also that last time that you can make a reservation for a non-Disney or cruise option. So, if you cancel in June, you're kinda stuck. You'll need to stay at a DVC resort "somewhere" or look into having someone else use the reservation.

Just keep that in the back of your mind -- chances are you're going to get to enjoy that July trip without a problem.

You also mention "needing a few more". You will only be able to borrow your 2007 Use Year points for the trip. You won't be able to use any points from additional Use Years.

Thanks everyone. I had banked them thinking we were going to go on the DVC cruise. Well the pts. are too much for the cruise so we are going to either go to DL for a week in July (I can just adjust on what view we are going to use, and we will be fine and have pts left over plus the ones we banked) or the other option we gave our friends was a WDW/Cruise vacation, but they have to see if it will be financially feesible.

Oh and by the way I'm a tough girl, you'll have to use something a little stronger than salt. And yes I do know the opinion about using pts. on DL and the cruise.
