I threw this question onto another forum question but i figured the best thing to do would to make it a seperate question. I was curious if many people pay for their DCL with both points and cash. There are 6 of us so I figured we'd use points for my husband and myself and pay for the kids. Does this work for others?
Thanks

We've cruised twice. The first time, we did exactly as you suggest. We paid for my wife and I and then used points for our 3 kids. Last summer we had 8 of us go and paid cash for all of us. Either way works, just depends on the rates. If you book early enough, you can get a considerable savings, so it may make better sense to pay cash.

Another thing to consider is whether you can make more money by renting the number of points you'd need for the cruise and then paying cash.

First cruise - two staterooms (first two in each cabin adult rate, regardless if they are kids or not). Four adults with points, 1 child cash (we had to bank and borrow of course.

Second cruise - two staterooms - two adults, 1 child points and two adults cash.

Third cruise? (Waiting for rates/point chart for '05)
