Point transfer - Do i have this right?

Situation:

We own at SSR. We have a special family event coming next summer and would like to book an AKV Grand Villa Savanna View for a long weekend. We will not have enough points. Assuming the GV is available at 7 months, we can get with another member to transfer in points to use for our booking.

Since we are booking at 7 months, the resort we are getting the transfer from does not matter. The UY does not have to match our own but those transfer points are bound by their own UY. It is just a call to MS with us both on the line to effect the transfer and we can book as soon as the transfer is completed.

Do I have the above correct and did I miss anything?

Ps.. At a certain point depending on the number of points we need it almost looks cheaper to do an addon contract.

You have it right. The only other item to remember is that the points you transfer in that they do not expire until you need to use them or maybe some time after in case you need to do a change.

One other idea would be to find an AKV member and transfer all the points in you need at the 11 month window and then rent out your own SSR points.

When you complete a transfer, you do not have to have both members on the line--although some do for comfort.

I transferred some of my points a few months back and just called and gave MS the name and member # of the person. I confirmed the city as well and the transfer was done.

As mentioned, as long as the transferred points are valid for the time you want to visit, they will work. If you can, however, get SSR points for the same UY you own, you will be able to see them online and then at the 7 month mark, would be able to use online booking.

I got a transfer of BLT points, same UY as I own, and they were simply added to my total and I had no issue using them online with my own.

Thanks everyone for the info. The more I look at the cost to transfer in the amount we will need the more adding a 100 pt AKV resale contract looks like a good deal
