Just got home yesterday from my fifth stay at POFQ. I was not disappointed, but felt some things were just not up to Disney standards and not what I had previously experienced. In general, I felt the resort was overwhelmed with crowds. The buses were always crowded, although I never waited very long for a bus. The food court was always crowded and the CM's seemed overworked. I went to the food court one morning at about 8:30, knowing it would be crowded. There was only 1 cashier working and she was spending most of her time trying to explain the DDP to people. Very frustrating! My biggest complaint was Bell Services. On our arrival day, we had our luggage stored and it took them two hours to get it delivered to our room. And that was only because I went to Bell Services and asked for my luggage myself. They got someone to deliver it then. From what I could gather, they had a large shipment of Magical Express luggage that had priority on delivery. It was raining on and off, but I could see the carts making the deliveries the whole time. My main concern was how they were handling the ME luggage. The cart was packed full of luggage and the Bell Services guys would just take some off and disappear for awhile! I could not believe they were leaving people's luggage just sitting around. I was told that there were lots of mad people and lots of luggage to be delivered. Check-in was fine and Mousekeeping just did the bare minimum, but it was fine. I am used to a more relaxed atmosphere at POFQ, since I try to go at the slower times. Disney did a great job of filling their resorts, but I will think twice about going during free dining again!

Thanks, but we had a GREAT time and I love POFQ. Guess I'm just not used to crowds!

I felt your pain two weeks ago at POR. It was overwhelmed too. I booked the bounceback later next year to return to POFQ. I liked it much better even going in July last year.

Welcome back! Glad you had a great stay. I think Disney is understaffed in all resorts these days. It is a good idea to go during slower seasons if at all possible.

If you checked in on a day when the Disney cruises get back into port...that could explain the extra crowds and luggage... they all get off busses from the port - or at least alot of them do - that would be Thursday, Sunday and Saturday...

I think DDP and Free dining also did it...

we checked in on 9/14and found just the opposite. Bell services was quick in getting our luggage to our room. We took ME to and from the resort with quick delivery both times. The food court was never crowded, walked in got breakfast and left very quickly. There was at least 2 cashiers on most days. Usually ate around 8am. The bus waits varied depending on which park you were going to. The longest wait was for AK and that was about 15 minutes. However, the buses back to the resort were always long and crowded. Contrary to what I have read here, when returning from the parks POFQ was not always the first stop. Sometimes it was the last. Mousekeeping was OK. The room was very clean on arrival, but they only provided basic mousekeeping during the week. They did leave towel animals and arrange them each day, but I would have loved to have the shower and sinks washed out, and the trash emptied daily. Not that we left thilngs dirty, as I would pick up before going to bed, but just making my bed is just ok. Overall, I love POFQ and found overall to be friendly and inviting at the end of the day. I will go there again, but I am trying some other resorts first.

So you got towel animals, but no garbage pickup or sink and tub cleaning? I think it is time to re-focus housekeeping on their primary duties are. Make sure the rooms are CLEAN and then if you have time, make towel animals.

PS Personally, I could care less about towel animals. I don't need housekeepers to entertain me, just leave me with a room that has the beds made, the bathroom cleaned, the floor vacuumed & plenty of towels(non-animal version:lmao:).

How do you get to book the bounceback?? Do they offer it to you when you check in/out or do you have to inquire somewhere??

Just curious thanks!!!

The current bounce back promotion is for guests staying onsite now through a check-out on or before Sept. 28, 2007. I read about it here on the DIS and on Mousesavers.com. Some are receiving flyers/letters in their welcome packets, in their rooms or on resort restaurant receipts with info about a return visit deal, and many have seen a blurb about a hot deal on resort TV. You have to be checked in and call ext. 8844 before checking out, book a package with room, tickets and it includes free dining. It's for a return stay from 8/30-9/27/08. A deposit of $200 is required when booking.
