POFQ or Boardwalk

Hi,

We are going to WDW 6/30-7/8 for our annual trip and we have booked POFQ but are now thinking about switching to the Boardwalk. We have stayed at both resorts and have concerns with each. The Boardwalk was one of our favorite resorts, however, we were quite disappointed with the bus transportation from the resort. It took us over an hour to get to DTD each time we went and generally we needed to wait for the second or third bus of the night to return from the parks. I know that transportation can be unpredictable and that BWI shares busses with 4 other resorts, but for the kind of money we spent it should have been better. In terms of POFQ, we again liked the resort but both times we stayed there the check-in procedure was a nightmare, the staff were friendly but at least in terms of checking in were clueless and mousekeeping was horrible. We had a number of days that our room was never cleaned and the other days, with the exception of one, we would come back to our room around4:30-5:00 and mousekeeping had not arrived. Again there are great things about each resort which is why this decision is so tough. We love the boat to DTD from POFQ but the convenience of walking to Epcot and DHS as well as the "exciting" atmosphere at BWI is great as well. My question, I guess, is which resort would you choose; is it worth the extra money to stay at BWI? Any thoughts are appreciated! Thank you!

I can't speak for Boardwalk - but when we stayed at POFQ last May we didn't have any of the problems you mentioned ... maybe you just ran into a spell of "bad luck" ... ? :sad2:

And the transportation from POFQ was usually a breeze - but we did have to wait for a few buses at night when the parks close (but that seems to be the case with any of the resorts ...)

If "fast transportation" is one of you major concerns, maybe you should try one of the monorail resorts ...?

I have stayed at both resorts and hands down liked the boardwalk much better. I agree with the bus issue, however my wife and I have started either renting a car or using cabs depending on the length of stay. When I first started visiting Disney I could not imagine taking a cab within Disney, but I first tried it when I went to play golf and found it to be pleasant and reasonable. :goodvibes

We are looking at the same resorts and wondered if both resorts have easy access to fill up the refillable mugs. We like our coffee in the morning, and soda or tea in the afternoon/night.

My family loved the BWI!! The rooms were a very nice size, the pool was fanatastic. There is also plenty to do on the Boardwalk. I also thought the transportation was great, There was absolutely any thing I can compain about. Oh, my boys were 13 &15 years old at the visit>>

Well...POFQ is Quaint and quiet which you know having stayed there but Boardwalk there is so much to do however bus's can be awfull, If it was my choice I would most certianly go with Boardwalk, always something to do right there on the Boardwalk and if not can always walk to 1 of the other close resorts or EPCOT/ Studios

I have stayed at both and if given the choice would pick the Boardwalk. I just love all there is to do and how close you are to Epcot and the Studios. Staying at the Boardwalk kind of ruined me for staying anywhere else on-site. We are staying off-site this year and I told DH that we can't go back on-site until we can afford to stay there (last time I went, my parents paid for the trip).

Boardwalk all the way:flower3:

Location, location, location!!

I don't even understand why there's a question!

I'm a POFQ fan but I'd love to try the Boardwalk :)

Question for you. If you were having issues with Mousekeeping (which can happen at any resort), did you mention it to someone?

We've stayed there quite a few times and Mousekeeping has been good. My biggest complaint would be that we didn't always get towel animals, but the rooms were always cleaned.

The monorails still only go to two theme parks. So you have to take a bus to the other two or to the water parks.

We have stayed at many resorts on site, but have yet to find one with all the amenities available that you find at the Boardwalk.

I agree there are problems with bus traffic from and to the BW, but they have not stopped us from coming back 5 times to the BWI

We stayed at both POFQ and BWV last year. I agree with others that if money is not the primary consideration then you should go with BW. Remember, that for two parks you do not need a bus - you can walk (although I think the boat to Hollywood Studios is more realistic).

It costs $6 plus change & tip to take a cab from BW to Downtown Disney and you get there in 5-10 minutes. I've never had it take an hour to do it by bus, but if the time is important to you, the cab is a good option. They also drop you off at whatever part of it you want. There are also cabs at the World of Disney entry & West End entry if you want to go back.
