POFQ CLOSING INFO THREADS-UPDATED & CLEANED UP!

I looked up some standard room info from the AKL FAQ thread and here is an old post from Gillian here on the dis:
std view rooms -- If you look at the map

http://www.wdwig.com/aklmap3.jpgv

the standard view rooms are mostly in the front of the resort, overlooking the parking areas.

The bus area is on the lower right side of the map, below the Giraffe trail rooms. I would ask for an upper floor room on Ostrich trail, or ask for a quiet upper floor room away from the bus area. You could specify 4th or 5th floor. 3rd floor is ground level on this side of the lodge.

If you look at these pics from Deb wills site, you can see that a 5th floor ostrich trail standard view room isn't bad. It should be quiet. That side of the lodge is above the handicapped parking lot & shouldn't get a lot of foot traffic. The Giraffe trail side will have a zillion people heading to the busses all day long!

I hope this helps those who are getting standard rooms at AKL! :)

For the most part it seems as though most everyone is getting a decent transfer that they are happy with. I hope the rest of the crew here ends up with what they are hoping for!

On another note--the airfare prices are really dropping here where we live and we booked another trip to WDW in July-lol! Now I just need to figure out where we are staying. :)

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone, I am feeling better-yeah!

I changed resorts again and now I'm thrilled with. We had PO-FQ for a FL resident rate of $74. I waited for the call which came last Wednesday and was told no upgrades would be available so I moved to CBR (because my DH can't stand CSR) but I just couldn't seem to get excited about it. CBR seems so huge plus we live in South Florida, so "tropical" isn't anything different for us.

Last night after reading all these great upgrades I called back to see if we had any other options. I was quoted AKL standard for $84 night / AKL savannah for $94 night / BWI or BC or YC for $104 per night. WL was not available for my dates. (None of these rates include tax).

We chose the AKL savannah and I can't wait!!! My 4 year old DD is going to love watching the animals from our room. The funny thing is that we have always stayed for 4 nights and this time on a whim I booked 5 thinking that I could convince DH we needed the extra time to swim/enjoy POFQ/ make up for shorter park hours but fully expecting to cancel one night before the trip. Now I'm feeling really lucky to get to spend that extra time at a resort we would not usually spend the $$$ for and at what is probably a one time only amazing rate.

Plus, I've really wanted to eat at Boma but we never seem to make it over there. This trip we don't have any excuse! LOL!

Good luck to anyone who is still waiting.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

DisneyDentist - My postcard had a 3-letter rate code as well as a pin number, but they never asked for the pin number, just the code.

DeeP - the $104 rate I quoted did NOT include tax.

Has anyone who was relocated to POFQ from Shades Of Green been offered an upgrade to relocate again? My friend is still waiting to hear and has not been so lucky.

DeeP,

thank you!!!!!
I did call today for my mom. I said that she had an upgrade offer and I wanted to make sure the correct discount code was applied.

After some "typing" in the background and being put on hold for a few minutes, the CM came back and said , "It was the wrong one". She gave me the correct total-about 116.00 (tax included) a night for the BWI-not too bad if you ask me!!!

she originally had the rate of $74 with code AEG -Fl Resident

After stewing about changing my reservation to CSR, I decided to call again last night, just to see if anything else was available.

I didn't get good news. All available rates quoted were not upgrades...so I was a little disappointed, but happy to be staying at CSR.

Well, when I woke up this morning, I had a message from the CM who I called last night offering me an upgrade to DAK Lodge for $11/night standard or $22/night savannah. I took the savannah view and couldn't be more excited.

Disney has indeed far exceeded my expectations with this one. This has to be why I love this company so much...

Good luck to all of those still waiting!

going in June...no call yet...I"m calling

edit...on hold over 20 minutes...left number...waiting waiting..Do I call them back later or wait more? June 15 is our check in date.

I received an e-mail from my agent with DU and now I'm frustrated. I have two rooms in June with the FL Resident discount of $74 each, per night.. The best offer for relocation was WL at $155 each, per night. That's double the cost! My Du agent says I need to hurry and decide what I want to do. Any suggestions?

No, I don't think that sounds right. As you can see, others with a $74 rate have been offered rates of between $84 and $104 depending on which deluxe you choose. Sounds like your agent is not trying very hard. I would call your agent and tell them you know what others are being offered and you want that same deal. Don't take no for an answer. Good luck!

Considering the fact that I'm going to stay at Yacht Club for $104, would it be terribly presumptious to make a room request?? or should just go and accept whatever they give me? I would love to have one of the rooms that has daybed since I have a 16 year old son and ten year old daughter that will be sharing a bed. My son is 6'1" and sprawls all over the bed and my daughter is a wiggle worm. I would really like one of these rooms but should I ask or assume these would be assigned to someone paying regular rate?

Signed,
"I'm Not Worthy" Bob

Honeychild,
I just emailed you. They did the same thing to my mom. I had to call back and ask if they were applying the correct discount code to the offer. Sometimes, just calling back and getting someone else makes all the difference.

photobob Not all of the rooms have daybeds. I would definitely request one just prior to arrival (fax) with a brief explanation. I heard they usually give the daybed rooms to parties of 5 but they can be requested for special purposes.

Has anyone going to POFQ in October who isn't booked with a TA heard from Disney yet about relocating? We have a really good rate at POFQ and we're hoping to get a good upgrade rate too so we've been wondering what some rates have been for October. Anyone rebook for their October trip yet?

Honeychild,
Definitly call back....you are being given the wrong rate for the code you have. I think there are so many codes out there right now and poor CRO is trying to keep up with not only regular codes but now the codes with POFQ displacement, that some of the CRO CMs are getting confused or frustrated or probably both!

We are also going to DW 6-14-03 thru 6-21-03. After many phone calls last week to the relocation team We were finally given our upgrade options last Friday the 11th. We were travelling with several members of my family in a total of four rooms so it was very important to us to all be at the same resort. Thankfully we were able to all get moved to the same resort and we have been able to go back to planning other parts of our trip. Since you are under 60 days I would give them a call and see what your options are for the time you are going to be there.
Hope this helps:)

Justhat I called myself and got my upgrades for November. They are the same as everyone else is getting - $30/night at YC. You should call so you can be sure that they have availability at the resort of your choice.
