First, how many floors are in each building at POFQ?

I think, based on my map studying :), that I want to be in building #5. I have reserved a preferred room/king bed for our October trip. Am I better off getting a pool view or a Sassagoula River view?

It's our first visit to POFQ, just DD5 and I, and I have read that the resort is not too spread out, but am curious as to what others would request.

Thanks.

I prefer the river view, because I feel like when you're facing the pool, you're more likely to have some noise. DH and I had a river view in building 5 for our honeymoon and it was a great spot. You really can't go wrong at POFQ though, as the resort is small compared to the other moderates.

As I recall, each building has three floors at the resort.

POFQ is a small resort so it's not spread out as the other
MODs. Any Location at POFQ is conventant to main building.

The pool was outside of our room, and we didn't hear any noise at all while we were in our room. Being close to the pool worked for us, as we didn't have a long walk to the pool and also had a short walk back to the room. The pool does get noisy during the day, but the noise did not trickle into our room at all. Stayed at POFQ, bldg. #2, first floor by the pool.

Honestly, with the resort being so small, I wouldn't pay extra for a water view. However, to answer your question, there are 3 floors of each building.

I loved building 5.

We were directly across from the pool in connecting rooms on our last trip. It wasn't waterview as we were on the first floor and couldn't see the pool over the fence. It was a great location. We were just a few yards from the pool but didn't hear any noise from the area at all.

My husband and I also had a first floor, king bed, water view, corner room in Building 5 on an earlier trip. It faced the river and was a great location.

We have stayed in building 5 three different times. We had a corner room twice because you get an extra window. It was really nice. We had a courtyard view twice. It was not preferred but we loved the view of the fountain and courtyard. The river ran right behind our room. Our last stay we had a room facing the pool. It was on the first floor and was still quiet. This is one of our familiies favorite resorts.

Just a little note - there are no preferred rooms at FQ - that would be CBR, AllStars or POP. :)

We love a river view at FQ - the best river views are in bldg 2, 6 and 7 - especially bldg 6. If you do book a river view be sure to request one of these building as the views are wonderful (request a corner room too and it will be especially nice). Be sure to mention this at check-in and ask the Cast Member to try to find you a full river view room, corner room if possible. You will be delighted!! :)

Bldg 5 Courtyard view rooms are very nice too! If you happen to get a room with a tree blocking the view and you would like to see the view, just walk over to the front desk and ask your room to be changed. :) Calls do not go to the front desk, even from the resort, but to a central call center.

Have a lovely visit!! :goodvibes

I had a river view my first stay, I don't believe it was worth. I didn't spend that much time in my room, except for the day of the hurricane. Next trip down, I was in building 3 near the fountain. I loved that location because I was close to the food court. Now that building 4 is no longer smoking I'd love to be there since it's close to the food court and bus stop.

building 4, high floor, courtyard view. I didn't realize this used to be a smoking building. I'm an ex-smoker and REALLY sensitive to the smell. How bad is it? or not? Should I call and change my request? :confused3 We are looking for something close to bus stop and food court and like a top floor room.

It's been over a year since it was a smoking building and then I believe it was only the top floor, 3rd floor. You might call and speak with someone about what they have done to remove the odor in these rooms.

It's doubtful you will get a water view room. I hate to be the Bad News Guy, but better you know the facts now versus later.

At POFQ, there are 3 reservable room categories: standard, king-size bed, and water view. The king-size bed costs more, and so does the water view. It is IMPOSSIBLE to book a water view room with a king-size bed. You can reserve and pay for and thus guarantee only one room type, and then you can request the other.

Decide which is ore important to you. RESERVE AND PAY FOR that one, and then request the other.

Out of about 1,000 rooms in the resort, and only 62 of them have king-size beds. There are very very few king-size bed rooms that also happen to have a water view. As I said, those rooms can't be specifically booked ... people who get them have been sprinkled with pixie dust.

The other thing is that if you reserve a water view room, you can't specifically reserve a pool view or river view ... that's just a request.

I hope this info helps you with your plans.:goodvibes

That was an error - building 4 has not been a "smoking builiding" for years and years. It had a few smoking rooms, but we never saw any when we walked around the entire building in 2002. A CM told us it never was a smoking building and that if we saw it listed as one it was an error, so who knows.

We stayed in bldg 4 in 2002, 2004 and 2006 and never an issue. With severe allergies, I understand the sensitivity to a former smoking room, but it has been smoke free at least since the refurb in 2004.

You'll be fine - no worries! Hope this helps!

We love the river views and always had a corner King room overlooking the river. It had two large windows.

The great thing about this resort is that nothing is too spread out. Unlike it's sister The Riverside, it has fewer building which gives this resort a cozy feel. We enjoyed one of the buildings off the pool ( but on the opposite side away from the pool ) It was quiet and we had a terrific courtyard view.

We request building#5 every year, the closer to the food court and laundry(pool view), the better. Noise is never a problem. We had the river view once, but it was a much longer walk to the food court and buses(still not that far though). Buildings are 3 stories.
