POC gift shop ?

Just wondering if the gift shop outside of POC will be open while the ride is under rehab? DS12 is disappointed that we won't be able to do the ride on our upcoming trip... but will be crushed if he can't shop too. tia

I read somewhere that there was rumor that they would be closing the giftshop and replacing it with a character meet and greet.

It would be terrible if they did this as the Pirates gift shop is one of my favorites. It is one of the last remaining unique shops in Disney! I hope this is not true so, we should all voice our opinion now so that Disney can hear how we feel about it!

OH i hope someone can answer this. We are going in May when POC will be closed, but i had hoped that the shop would be open. We usually go to WDW with my sister and nephews, but this year they are not coming with us. This is their fav shop and i wanted to get them some stuff from there.

I may be wrong, but I just CANNOT see Disney choosing to close a place which makes money and making it a profit-less meet and greet area.
