Ugh, I think it's going to be busy at DL that week--I'm pricing out hotels and a lot of them seem to be booked. Guess I should go check over on the DL board. I don't like crowds...

Steph, would I be totally crazy to fly across the country with Jake and go to DL instead of WDW? If I'm able to redeem frequent flyer miles I'm half tempted to use them to go far away, but my heart rate is racing thinking about planning a major trip in 2 weeks. To a place that I haven't been in 4 years and to a place that I've never really driving around in. It would be cheaper since I can stay a few days with my in-laws, but driving in southern CA? :faint: :scared: I'm thinking no. WDW is so easy. I know how to do it, but DL would be fun and Jake has never been there. I don't know if I'm up for an "out of my element" activity of this magnitude right now. :rotfl:

I don't think it's totally crazy, but it's definitely do-able! Your in-laws live in Sun City right? DL is only an hour to an hour and a half drive from there. Traffic isn't bad at all, as long as you don't leave for DL at 8 am or leave from DL around 4 pm. Driving around here isn't that big a deal, it's not downtown L.A., and to get to DL is almost all freeway so directions aren't that hard. Heck, I could meet you at DL!! Your in-laws are only 20 minute from me. I say go for it if it saves you money! :thumbsup2

I would go stay near DL the days I'm in that area so I'm not driving back and forth. I was surprised at how booked up things seem to be, but I'm also finding that at WDW. I guess with the 50th it's that way.

I wish that my in-laws were the type that would say, "We'd love to see DL with you and Jake", but they don't do anything that they don't want to do. We learned that lesson the hard way. They haven't even been to CA Adventure. Well, neither have I, but they live in So CA (they used to live in Anaheim before they moved to Sun City a few years ago).

Is the weather warm enough near DL to really swim or is it still too cool?

I still haven't figured out if I can use the frequent flyer points--want to figure out where I'd go, first. Thankfully Jake knows nothing of this--I'm waiting for him to walk in and see a Disney window open on my computer and start asking questions. Actually, he can read, so he doesn't need to ask questions. :rotfl:

No! I don't think it's odd at all. I think it's nice. If I ever got rid of DH (which I'm not going to, he's already trained) I would keep his family. Most of the time I like them more than him anyway. :rotfl2:

You know if I every told my family I was leaving DH (not going to happen :goodvibes ) I am sure my family would say "oh that is too bad, we are really going to miss you. We are keeping him. Sorry."

Good things I have no plans to leave him.

DH and I want to do DL someday. He has couins that live just a few miles away form it. They keep asking us to come. (but we want to stay near DL for a few days.)

Anyway we were going to go this May (6th to 12) and after looking into it and $ and all that we ended up back at WDW, just cheaper and easier (knowing the area makes DH much more relaxed about the whole thing.)

Still I do want to see it someday. Now seems like a good time.

But off to WDW 3 weeks from today! :cool1:

Phd, If Jake and I got to WDW we'll cross paths with you for a couple days. Not exactly sure when we'd be there, but probably the 3-8th. He has the 4-5 off school and then the 6-7 is the weekend.

I know that he wants to see EE and RnR (if he measures tall enough at WDW--he did measure 48" at Kings Dominion). Soarin' is at WDW and DL, so that doesn't matter. Is Crush at DL? I  Crush.

Had a pleasant day. Allison and I weeded the front flower bed and planted some flowers and seeds. Also tried to trim the hedges. Debbie came over and we had some White Castles then we colored eggs. I always love when I have my two daughters around to do things with. Tomorrow we are going to my dad's house. Sure hope the rain holds off since I filled 145 plastic eggs with candy to hide in dad's back yard. Debbie and her bf will join us at my dad's a little later since her bf has to work until 3. Looking forward to tomorrow.

3-8 of May?
I will be in DL 6-9..... :teeth:

It's still too cool to swim. But who knows what the weather will be like when you come out! It's California - 50 degrees one day and 90 degrees the next! It was 85 degrees and beautiful just a couple days ago, now it's overcast and rainy.

Cool, let me know if you go, we will be sure to meet up. Wouldn't that be funny. No more "running into each other at trader joes!" We get there Saturday the 6th and leave for Vero on the Tuesday the 9th.

DH found the Easter parade from 10 years ago (the 25th aniversary) and we are wachting it on the VCR now. Happy Easter everyone! I can't belive we will be there in 3 week.

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!

AND A BELATED HAPPY PASSOVER TO YOU, T&B!!!

I hope you all are having a good day!

My poor husband is having a fun time with the taxes. I sure hope we get lots of $ back, because after we then kick ourselves for not filing sooner, I can then proceed to the next step of figuring out if I can redeem the frequent flyer miles for this proposed trip. But I need the $ to pay for the rest of the trip, esp since I want to buy a non-exp 10 day hopper pass with the pluses so I'll have the days for a future trip for Jake and me, so that adds money to the total.

Happy Easter and Passover!!

HAPPY EASTER!! So far how is your day? Pretty nice for me. Have some time before I am suppose to be at my dad's. I called my aunt and cousin in Florida. Both had to tease me about how wonderful the weather was and so warm! Snots!! :rotfl2:
Sure hope the rain doesn't spoil our egg hunt.
Allison got up bright and early this morning. Gotta love her.

Oh by the way. We filed a while ago and already have our refunds safely in the bank. :teeth: :rotfl2: the early bird catches the worm. :bitelip:

I am really rooting for you to go, I would love to run into you there. Be warned, while that week is not a really busy one, the resorts have filled up fast. I think Pop was the only thing with avilablity a few weeks ago (when my friend booked.)

What I really wanted to do is to split the stay with part of the time at a moderate and part of the time at Pop, but if all I can get is Pop, that's fine, too. Well, except I can't stand the coffee and will then need to bring my little coffeemaker. :furious:

The first hurdle is almost done--my DH is almost finished with the taxes and it looks like we are getting lots of $ back, but he's still working. I wonder if WDW reservations is open today. I should call and put a hold on a room. I could then call AAA tomorrow or send an e-mail to the person that handled my Jan trip. Of course I really should figure out the freq flyer points--I think I'm scared to do that. LOL

Tackle the next hurdles and get that trip going! I'm happy for you and Jake. (A little envious but a lot happy! :teeth: )
