That is what I was thinking. The only other thing I can think of is did they possibly have different interviewers? :confused3

I'll have to ask my DD about the interviewers. As far as I know there was just one set, but I don't know for sure. When I talked to my DD she hadn't talked to her roommate. I told my DD to ask her about it, but not to get too mad. Find out why she said that. Not to use an overused term, but the girl seems a bit "passive-aggressive".

My DD said it was the same interviewers. When my DD talked to her roommate after her (my DD's) interview and told her that they didn't say anything about any filled positions she was backpeddling a bit, acting like she wasn't sure which positions were filled, but before my DD's interview she was clear on it being the exact two jobs that my DD was interested in. Sounds a bit suspicious to me.

Sounds like she is competing with DD. Tough spot for your DD.

Yep, I think so. They could put down 3 choices of jobs they would want and for my DD's 3rd choice she said that she was flexible, so maybe the roommate felt that my DD was in competition with her.

The roommate was VERY jealous of my DD when we went to WDW in January. Green with envy! Is jealous because my DD has a car on campus this semester and she doesn't (will next year, though), even though Aly can now drive her around and they don't have to take the bus, can go to the beach, etc. I sure home that my DD does not come across as jealous like that with others. I don't like it.

Hopefully they will both get jobs.

Oh, I asked my DD how the interviewers were dressed and my DD said that they were very casual--more so than my DD and that she was dressed just right and that the roommate was overdressed. hehehe Not that I'm really out to be mean, but funny since she was so critical of my DD.

I talked with my DD, who'd talked more with her roommate. She thinks that the 2 jobs that my DD wanted were never really open for whatever reason (maybe the people who hold the positions from this year are not seniors like with the other positions and therefore are not open or there were filled from within and not really open). I don't really totally believe this, but it makes more sense than what her roommate had first said--that they positions had already been filled since the interviewing had just started today. Still makes me wonder why the roommate told her this as she was heading to her interview...

Good Morning!! :sunny:

I need some new shoes for the wedding Friday night (hint) :teeth:

Ahhh college roommates. The first couple I had we ended up hating each other. Seriously. One snooped through personal things and then went and yapped stuff to our group of friends. Stuff that was not anyone's business. Anyway, from the sounds of it, it sounded like the roommate was talking out of her butt. Jealousy? Maybe. Maybe she was looking to work somewhere where without your DD. A break from each other, so to say. I don't have any idea.

Also, as an aside. I think ALL interviews should be taken seriously and one should present themselves in the best way possible. When I interviewed for an on-campus job, I dressed as I would for any interview. And this was for an administrative position in the graduate division of the School of Journalism and Communications (my own college, where I knew most everybody all ready). Anyway, I am not one to recommend the casual show up to an interview. Also a thank you note AFTER the interview goes a long way. In fact a thank you note landed me my first real after-college job. I was neck-and-neck with another candidate. My thank you note put me ahead. The reason I know is after I was hired and looking through personnel stuff, that was written on my resume. ;)

Anyway, I think I got off tangent. T&B, your DD's roommate sounds about par for the course as far as roommates go. There will be ups and downs, traumas, dramas, etc. I miss those days. No really, I do. :teeth:

Great idea about the thank you note!!! I can't believe I didn't think to suggest that--I've been a SAHM for too long. :rotfl: I know my DH sends one out to headhunters after talking with them, so I should have thought about it.

I'll send an IM to her as soon as she's online and tell her not to mention it to her roommate. ;)

Actually, her bigger concern right now is another girl who is applying. This girl said that she doesn't even want the job and doesn't really need the $, which frustrates my DD. Maybe if the girl gets offered the job she'll turn it down.

It's actually harder watching my kids go through some of these things than going through them myself. I have to go through the worrying, etc without enjoying the partying... :rotfl2:

I have a few more years until that. I am not counting the days. :rotfl: Of course one wants to get his CDL and become a truck driver, so hey maybe no worries there. :lmao:

As far as the interview dress, Aly's idea of casual would be jeans, but she was going to wear a pair of slacks and a nice shirt. Not jeans and a knit shirt, etc. And the the more simple with her as far as makeup the better. She normally wears more than I ever did, but if she was worried about looking "just right", she might go overboard.

Slacks and a nice shirt sound fine, businessy but not overly so. :thumbsup2

I wasn't saying to break out the three piece suit, but it should be some sort of business dress. :)

P.S. I screen applications and sit-in on interviews at my workplace, so I am sorry if I am coming across Miss "know-it-all"-like. I have some resume/application/interview pet peeves. ;)

Hey all, how was your weekend? Mine was busy and I need a nap. Went to the hospital with a friend on Friday afternoon, she was having an operation. Saturday my sister came down, she was taking my cousin to her inlaws to talk to them about putting in floors. Then we went up to my friends house to do some cleaning for her, she has a Corgy and I swear I could have knitted two dogs and an afghan with the amount of dog hair in her house. My neices spent the night and since my cousin is staying in their room the 2yo had to sleep with me. It was like having a mexican jumping bean in my bed, she moved all night and since I don't have a side rail I was awake half the night worried she would fall out of my bed. Yesterday I had to drive them down to meet my sister in Tyson's Corner and on the way back I decided to stop at Trader Joe's. I could have a serious problem with that store. I was very good though and only got a few things, two of which were essential's, bread and milk.

If I had of known that I would have been PMing you Sat night! :teeth: I told her to send a thank you e-mail, but they make their decision today. I told her to send the e-mail, anyway. The worst outcome is that she won't get a job, but maybe someone will turn one down and she'll be next on the list. But I can't make her do it. She doesn't give me much notice on these things. :rotfl:

Before long she'll be out in the "real" work force, so whatever practice she can get now will help her then.

Merle, glad you finally made it to Trader Joes! I'm going to venture to Wegmans during spring break. I've never gone to the Hunt Valley store before It's a good hour from my house, so it won't be a normal thing, not that anything I do is normal. :teeth: I'll bring my 15yo with me--he'll want to buy out the store and leave my 12yo at home--he'd want to leave after 5 minutes.

SORRY I'm LATE!!! I got tied up (not literally :teeth: )

Well, I am wearing black pants, a pink satin shell (tank?) thing underneath a black jacket that has a little bit of black beading on it.

When I first got in there I felt a little like, "Get me out of here". There were so many people in the first aisle, all going differant directions I felt like I was in a traffic jam. Once I got beyond that though everything quieted down and I could look at things. I got myself some shrimp potstickers and wheat couscous.

I like the third ones

But, I think I am going to Payless! I'm not spending $$$$$ for one night!!
