Good morning everybody.
I'm a little freaked out this morning because of something that happened to DD18 yesterday. She works at a restaurant, and yesterday an 18yo boy that also works there said something suggestive and scary to her. I don't know what it is - I think she was too embarrassed to spell it out for her dad and I, but I know that it upset her a lot. Later in the day, someone else told her that this boy has been in trouble in the past for stalking a girl. I don't know to what extent, or if that story's even true.
Anyway, she's working breakfast this morning (he's not on the schedule today). Hubby and I just got back from going there for breakfast ourselves, really just to check on her and make sure she's ok, which she was. She had met with her manager and wrote down for him whatever the boy said to her. The manager told her it was very inappropriate for him to say it, and he's going to talk to the boy about it.
Hubby and I told her that if she sees the slightest hint of him following her or showing up where he shouldn't be, that we'll call the police right away. (If it comes to that, I'll insist on knowing what exactly he said to her in the first place.) DD's boyfriend works as a 911 operator in the police building, so they regard him as one of their own, and her also by association, which gives me a little extra peace of mind. We live in a small, bedroom community, so it really is the kind of place where all the police officers know her and can keep an eye out for her.
So anyway, we're just praying and we'll see how the situation develops. DD was ok when we saw her at work, but I can tell she's eager to be out of there. She just put in her notice there a few days ago, and her last day at the job is next week anyway. I would hate for her to have to quit early, since she was planning on that last paycheck for her spending money on our Europe trip, and it won't be feasible for her to find another job just before we leave. Of course, no job would be worth being harrassed, but hopefully it'll be the boy who either straightens up or has to leave. In a perfect world they'd fire his sorry behind, but it's probably not that easy.
T&B, is your migraine any better yet?
