Can someone please tell me why it (the main dis page) says I have 20 pm's when I only have 2?

Have you checked the sent messages and message tracking? Also, select the "since the beginning" for the dates and make sure you don't have any "hiding".

i did everything you said, and it still says I have 20 pm's when I really only have 3...
