This makes me so mad. I hate when I go to a web-site for Plus size clothing and the models they use have never been overweight in their lives.

Here is an example. This model is wearing a bathing suit that the smallest size is a 14W...SHE IS NOT A 14W...No way.

Now I am not saying that they should use the largest people to model but they could be a little more realistic.

If a 25 yr old was used to model teen clothing, or a young person was used to push Depends and wrinkle cream, I would feel the same.

RANT over...:headache:

I couldn't agree with you more. It seems like they sometimes use models who are a 10 or 12 to push clothing for women who wear well over a 14. Just doesn't make sense. :confused3

The problem is these days for models at least, if they are over like size 4 or so, even if they are no where near actual plus size, they consider them plus size models. It is awful.

I hate that too...

No wonder there are so many people with eating disorders in the world.

Have you watched the show America's Next Top Model with Tyra Banks? The girl who was kicked off last week was considered a Plus Sized Model!!! She looked like she wore a size 6 on a bad day.

A size 12 is considered plus sized in some stores. :scared1:

Ridiculous. Do they think the consumer is stupid or something? Why would you be enticed to buy something when its modeled on a body that is half your size?? I just don't get this. If I wear a size 14W, I want to see someone who wears a size 14W wearing it so I can judge how it looks on me. I'm actually not plus sized, but I still find it VERY offensive. As if these clothes can't look good on someone larger. It makes me SO angry. :(

size 12 is a plus size. Sorry but it is..

While I agree that they should use models that represent the majority of the line they are selling, if you are size 12, you are "big"

This is true for everyone except the size 0 girls. I'm a 10 to 12 but all the models are 0

I sure as heck wouldn't considered myself big if I was once again a size 12. My wedding dress was a size 12 and I weighed 135 lbs and I'm 5'6.

Most of the plus sized stores I shop at and most of the plus sized sections of stores that I shop in don't have anything under a size 14. Everywhere I have shopped size 12 is always in the average size section and they usually go up to size 16.

Me too! When I got married I weighed around 125 and I'm 5'5". My dress was a 12 and there was no way I was plus sized back then!

I am plus sized now, but I'm working on that. I consider 16 and up plus sized. Or if you are going by small, medium, large and x-large then x-large and up would be plus. Sorry but no way is 12 a plus size.

A 12 is not plus sized! I was a size 10-12 in high school and was very little. I've never heard anyone say someone who wears a 12 is big, that's crazy unless your a size 0.

Deleted to not offend

I have a lot of friends who are a size 12 and they are NOT plus size.

I think anything over the AVERAGE is plus size and 12 is not average.

well, I have to agree that to me 12 is plus sized...its "all relative" of course...but I'm petite, and I can assure if I were a size 12 I'd be well above a healthy weight.

I don't think its fair to judge based on a wedding dress, those sizes are not "real world"...

On what planet? :confused3

Well beyond being craptastically annoying, your reply totally misses the point.

The point is - if the clothing item in question isn't sold in a Size 12, then don't take it and cut it down to a Size 12 and put it on a Model who wears a size 12 to sell the item. There are certainly plenty of size 14w or larger perfectly acceptable looking women who can put on some clothes and stand still enough to have their picture taken.

If I'm looking for a pair of pants to put on my size 14W butt, then I want to see how those specific pants LOOK ON A SIZE 14W butt.

Huh? Since when is a size 12 plus sized? In my world, plus size is anything bigger than a 16.

I feel your pain. On the bottom, I wear size 4. On top, I wear a bra size that is technically "plus-sized", but in fact is about average size. I have a small band size, and need larger cups. Talk about ego deflating. But, I guess it depends on point of view, and not everbody would be sensitive about it. Before I lost weight, I was legitimately plus sized. It is embarrassing to have lost that much weight, and still need specially sized clothes.

I agree that from what I observe on a daily basis, 12 or 14 isn't plus sized; it is average.

I don't know what your particular stature has to do with the conversation. A size 12 is NOT plus size. Anything from size 0-16 is considered "Misses" sizes, sometimes 0-18, depending on the store.
