I am new to the Dis family and this particular board seems wonderful. I am wondering if there are any recovering alcoholics passing thru. I have 15 months sober and a huge help to me in the beginning was planning a long overdue trip to the World. A trip that never would have happened had I kept drinking. When I passed thru the gates I cried like a baby, because I had made it home- in so many, many ways. Just curious. And, so many of you are in my prayers.

Awesome job on your 15 months!! I know those were not easy months. My dad is currently attending AA meetings - he received his 7 month chip last night :cool1: ! We are all so proud of him. I know it has not been an easy road for him (or anyone) but in the end it is so worth it. Congratulations!!!

.... for your response. And congratulations to your dad. I wish him all the best.

:yay: Way to go! Stay strong on your continued journey, may there be more WDW trips in your future!~

15 months is fantastic progress!! My brother has now been sober for 20 years!! Keep up the good work! :woohoo:

Bravo to you for making it 15 months.. what is it they say.. one day at a time.. Keep going, you are doing great. There is actually AA meetings onboard Disney cruise ships......a loved one needed a meeting on a cruise and found them so helpful.. just a heads up if you decide to cruise.

As a daughter of an alcoholic who died of cirrhosis of the liver , CONGRATULATIONS !!!! I am so proud of you.....

I just wanted to add congratulations! I'm lucky enough that I count in years now, but in months I'd be over 50 (Sobriety Date 11/01/2004) . It can be a rough road, and even 4+ years out, I still battle it from time to time. My addiction was almost entirely mental/emotional, so quitting had no noticeable physical effects. It did, however, send me into a nosedive of anxiety and depression, and there are times still when I think that maybe I'd be better of drunk.

Then I remember the reasons I quit, and how pissed I'd be at myself for ruining such a long streak. Now if I could just learn how to survive in social situations without drugs/alcohol and without running back home to hide after 30 minutes of "exposure"....:sad1:
