or why you do? is the food good? I can't decide if we should go or not?
help please, it will soon be time to make our adrs!

We loved it but the price is a alot to us and not something I would pay for. We tried it with free dining one year and went back the next year also.

We love it, but the prices are high, so we do it while on the Deluxe plan. The food is amazing, service is fantastic and the location when staying at an Epcot resort is great!

Happy eating, Tiger :)

My family thinks there are better options than Yachtman's. Never been that impressed with the food or the service.

Our last trip, it was the highlight meal of the trip, beating out Narcoossee's even! The service we received there was the best of the 11 day trip as well.

My steak was the best I had on property, and better than the Ruth's Chris steak I had on the way to Florida.

I have it down twice for our upcoming trip, spaced a week apart. :)

I love it! The filet I had was perfect, the lobster bisque very rich, the onion pull apart rolls with fresh roasted garlic is to die for. DH doesnt care for it because his rib eye was wayyyyy undercooked and it was nothing but fat and he had to cut his caesar salad, they served it to him in 3 huge leaves! He prefers the filet at Jiko, second choice is the NY Strip at FF and then the filets at Le Cellier.

DH and I loved it. The food was outstanding, as was the service. We have been to quite a few signatures and yachtsmen stands out. Been to Cali Grille, Artist's Point, Citricos, Brown Derby, CRT.......enjoyed them all in different ways, but definitely hope to return to yachtsmen......:cloud9:

We didn't like it at all. Dh's steak was tough and my filet was overcooked. We were pretty surprised since so many people have said it's one of the best places to eat. We'll stick with Ruth's Chris for steaks.

What we don't like about it? They don't enforce the dress code.

We we do like about it? Great food, especially the filet. Great service. Great servers. Great atmosphere.

We agree the price is high, but it is a very nice place and the experience is worth the price.

We absolutely love the Yachtsmans.:thumbsup2

Our most recent experience was in December. The service from the wonderful Oscar was superb, the food was outstanding and the atmosphere in the restaurant was lovely and romantic.:lovestruc
One of our best ever dining experiences and I smile every time I think about that evening. DH and I had a stroll around the Boardwalk after our meal and ended our evening with Illuminations. Absolutely perfect.:cloud9:

So its highly recommended from me and I shall be booking it again for August.:goodvibes

I wanted to include this in my response as well, but I did not do so, as it was our first time there, and so I won't know if this is the norm until the 2nd time we eat there. Although, I actually started a thread about this on our return trip last year while dining there for Mother's Day (we dress up as we think this is important for the experience), and many posters mentioned that it was the norm here. We saw people coming in dressed very sloppily and worse, coming in right from SAB with wet swimsuits and open shirts with their large, gold chains hanging out! There was large family who were flashing around their gold watches and diamonds, yet they were in swimsuits (some still wet). They were very loud and brash, and no one said a word! We were dressed very nicely and we have 2 babes to handle, so no excuses for not doing so, since if we can get our babes ready and dressed up, they certainly could with older kids. If they don't enforce the rules, then people will take advantage of it from what we could see each and every time we passed by there (we stayed at Yacht club for 4 days).

The food was stellar as was the service, but this family and several others who were totally against dress code, took away from our experience, and our just turned 5 year old noticed the dress code disparity right away and asked us about it. :(

This is one restaurant that really needs to enforce the dress code as it's a Signature attached to a water park.

I just have a question for those who think the way people are dressed ruins your meal, why? I honestly do not understand this at all. If I am going out for a nice dinner with my DH, I am going to be enjoying him and our dinner, who cares what anyone else is doing? Unless they are obnoxious and LOUD, then who cares?

Although we know we are in the minority here, we do not like Yachtsman Steakhouse. We have tried it 3 times and we will not return. To us, the food was just NOT GOOD. The atmosphere is beautiful, the service was warm and friendly, the onion rolls mentioned by MickeyNickey were to die for, but nothing else was good at all. I like the filet better at JIko
Have a Great Trip

If you read in my post, I mentioned that they were loud, brash and very obnoxious. Some of the teens were actually dripping water from their swimsuits, and it was Mother's Day, so not a good experience at all.

I'm not sure why people have trouble understanding this concept? It's not like we are staring at others, or gossiping about them, but when a very loud and brash family calls attention to themselves at every turn, that will ruin the experience. We were expecting a nice, quiet Mother's Day meal in a fancier restaurant, but the experience was tainted a bit for us due to this family's apparent lack of tact and decorum. They acted like they owned the restaurant and were closing it down for a private party, and this was not cool to many of us who were in attendance.

Restaurants are shared by many, and so this is why not dressing within dress code guidelines or acting very loud and brash might taint the experience for some, especially on special occasions like Mother's Day.

HTH, Tiger :)

Good question. Think about it this way - the surroundings have a significant impact on the meal. If you are in an elegant place, you expect an elegant meal. If you are in a bar, you expect bar food.

I can totally understand the loud issue. That would bother me even in McDonalds. LOL But the dress thing I just don't get. If someone is polite and quiet, who cares if they are in jeans or not. The wet suits, that is not cool. But some people are just more casual than others. Take me for example. I love to eat at nice places but absolutely hate dressing up. I don't know why, I just do. Something about eating a great meal and feeling comfortable.

I am not just pointing my finger at you, just responding to you. I did read your post and do understand about the behavior not being appropriate, I wa just commenting on the dresss part of it.

We were at Yachtsmen about 2 weeks ago and had the same problem with my steak being wayyyyyy undercooked. I normally like the steak there but this was not one of their better meals.

The onion rolls and roasted garlic is the REAL reason I like to eat there.

As for the dress code, Yachtsmen is the ONLY restaurant I have ever seen the dress code enforced. When we were there this past trip there was a family where the mom had ripped jeans (I"m sure she paid a fortune for them to come that way from the designer store) and the son had a tank top. They were told to go to the gift shop to buy appropriate clothes if they wanted to eat in that restaurant. I watched for them to come back while we ate dinner and never saw them again.
