I've never been on Mount Everest! However, my boyfriend and I want to give it a try next trip!! I have a couple worries though..
First, I'm not really a ride person. The part of the ride where the track stops...what if the roller coaster car didn't stop!?! Super dumb thing to worry about, I know.
Second, has the backwards part made anyone motion sick?!

Yeah, you can't worry about the car not stopping. I guess just tell yourself that if it didn't, your family would wind up with millions of dollars in their wrongful death lawsuit against Disney. ;) I don't know what to tell you with that...it's just such an irrational fear. Sorry.

I am fairly susceptible to motion sickness and I don't have any issues with the backwards part.

Im not a thrill ride person, but I think the point of the broken track is to add a little bit more thrill :)
If they had a big metal wall across it, wouldnt be quite as thrillng

That hardly ever happens.

OP fears are fears because they are based on being irrational. If it makes you feel any better despite looking way faster Everest tops out around 50 MPH which is fairly tame. Also the backwards thing is not likely to bang you up too bad because it isn't a prolonged period of time.

I said ride it, love it, but pretend to hate it so you can guilt your bf into doing whatever you want the rest of the day :jumping1:

Worrying about the car not stopping is silly. Something like that can happen on any ride anywhere at any time - and rarely, if ever, does. There would have to be something very mechanically wrong which I doubt would be overlooked based on how often these rides are inspected and maintained.

As for the motion sickness part, the backwards portion DID make me a little uneasy and I'm not usually prone to motion sickness. It did not stop me from riding again, however. For frame of reference, I can do RnRC and ToT fine, but I avoid Mission Space at all costs.

Some quick math: EE has been open since April of 2006, the ride is just under 3 mins long.. the park is open on average of 8 hours a day, 365 days a year...

So, the ride has been open 2800 days * Average or 160 rides a day = 448000 rides without the train going over the top. I think you will be ok.. :thumbsup2

Besides, the system won't let you go over the top: I like reading the "engineering" pages: http://www.popularmechanics.com/technology/engineering/extreme-machines/4344482

This is the one I have bookmarked for EE.

also, my daughter is prone to motion sickness and she has never gotten sick on EE. Although she does get woozy on BTMRR.

Do you worry about your car not stopping on the way to the airport ? The plane not stopping when you go to land ? The bus not stopping on your way to the park ?

All more likely to happen.

The backwards portion goes fast, and I felt a little off. Someone told me to breathe out or yell. I guess I was holding my breath.

It solved my problem. Who knew!

OP here is a front of the seat view of the track as you go up.

Warning this video will be a major spoiler so only watch if you have to and only this section.

You will see tires and brakes on the track. I think the tires are actually pulling you up the track because the train normally would not have enough energy to get you to the top. You will notice that about 10 or so feet from the end of the track the train seems to move like its being pulled on. The brakes are to hold you there for a while.
