I was planning my trip this year for August, so I've been waiting for the AP rates to be released.

Now we've decided to treat my brother and his family to a Disney vacation. So now we have to go the end of June through the beginning of July. I really, really wanted POR for the trip (It is my favorite Disney resort), but, of course, there aren't any discounted rooms left (AP or DC). I also check CBR (our second choice), but they are also full. The only moderate available is Coronado Springs. This has never been a place I was interested in, but who knows maybe I will love it.

Please tell me what you will love about this resort. There will be 4 adults and 2 children (10 and 8). Do you think the kids will love it?

 I really shouldn't get so stressed, I know. Any Disney vacation is going to be great! I just want this to be filled with wonderful memories for my niece and nephew. Thanks so much. (Sorry this is so long.)

the same thing happened to me. The only resort left with AP discounts was CSR. I stayed there once before, I didn't like it, now let me explain. It is a gorgeous resort, the PM is a great place to eat. I had the worst vacation that yr. My mom died and I couldn't stand my husband at the time. all he did was B & moan about prices and things we were going to do down there. well he is now my EX and I am excited about staying at CSR, I think it is going to be just great, me and my son, no B& moaning at all. It is Disney no matter what. My son was 13 when we went down there and he liked it, I am sure your kids will too.

I also had no interest in this resort. I've stayed at ASSp, ASMO, AKL, and CBR. Loved them all! My mom stayed at CSR last yer and kept ranting and raving about it. They were there at the same time we were (at CBR).

Well, this year DH and I did a last minute getaway for our anniversary. We were so impressed with this place that we can't wait to take our son there. The food, amenities, pool area (better slide than AKL), theming, grounds, recreation, service-all A+! I also hear the bus service is top-notch! We had our car. Beautiful place! We walked around the lake several times.

I will say that each resort is great. POR is beautiful, and when we don't stay there, we always visit to rent a pontoon boat. CBR always reminds us of the Cayman Islands. CSR IMO is a great resort! Smaller than CBR, and the southweastern look...is beautiful. I for one, like the food court and the fact that your not eating on paper plates with plastic ware. The pool at the big dig is one of the best at all the resorts. Your kids should love it. And if you use Disney transportation, IMHO it's the best. BB is only a minute away. And if you have a car, very easy to get around.

We satyed there in 2000 and loved it. We are going back (ASMo) in November and hope to get a great AP rate so that we can move up to CSR.

We have reservations for July 4 and 5 before sailing on the Wonder on July 6...have been to CSR once before to ship some things home but have never really walked around. From first impression, it is beautiful! I found this thread that was very helpful Coronado Springs Thread

Enjoy!!!

CSR is my favorite resort, even above the deluxes. I think you’ll like it.

LOL, madthemouse, when you called the dig site the “big dig” my first thought was, this person must be from Massachusetts!

Pugsley,

Your right! That huge hole under ground has been on my mind.
Thanks for pointing out my blunder. But not as big a blunder as the Big Dig! LOL

It seems everyone is reluctant to stay there.... then they love it! Count me and DH among those who weren't thrilled about staying there (we were transfers from the first POFQ closing), and then fell in love with the place. The grounds, the pool, the rooms, El Centro... I could go on and on... it was all great! You will really love the resort!

Erin :D

I have only stayed at the Coronado(and loved it!) but I want to try a different moderate next time... only I'm worried that I might not like it as much as CSR! ;)
Don't worry, you will love it! Make sure you stop in the bar for a fabulous Margarita!

We are also going to CSR for the 1st time 7/30-8/4. I was somewhat nervous, since I'll be alone with 2dds. ages 3 & 6. I've only stayed deluxe in the past, so I just wasn't quite sure. But after reading all the wonderful reviews, and all the info I could find, I'm sure it will be great. It looks really nice. Now I just have to figure out which area to request.

So don't stress, I am sure you will have a blast!!

Momtomootoo:

I wouldl request Cabanas 9B with two little ones. Send a fax explainig that you will be alone with two little ones. I would bring a double stroller if your 6yo is tiny. If not, just one for the 3yo would be fine.

I understand being bummed out about not staying in your first choice for a resort. I started with a 2 bedroom BWV, hubby said nope, went with AKL, hubby said nope, decided to go back to POFQ, hubby was thrilled, then.......couldn't get a room there so......I decided CBR, hubby decided we should stay where my sister and her family are staying....CSR.

My initial reaction was ick, it doesn't seem "Disney" then I started reading about the resort through this site and the links to other sites. Now I am excited to go and can't wait. All I have to do is a bit of last minute shopping and the packing for all 4 of us.

I am just looking forward to some much needed warmth and sunshine after this endless and horrendous winter. The thought of waking up at 3am for a 6am flight out of Manchester, NH is possible only because I will have a bathing suit on, grande margarita in hand, and Bare Naked Ladies cranking on a walkman by noon Saturday!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I really need to do now is get away from this computer, walk upstairs, and look in my closet and see what fits.

We stayed at CSR in March and I can't understand anyone not liking it, it is so beautiful. I wasn't sure what to expect but we arrived at 2:00 a.m. and got a cart ride to our room. It had just rained and everything looked so lush and so pretty at night with everything lit up.

We stayed in the Ranchos section - really cool - like the Old West. Our room was great, nicest I've ever stayed in. We had a plain old parking lot view but it was great because we were a hop skip and a jump from the bus stop.

My daughter (11) participated in the opening of the pyramid at the Dig Site one morning. The kids sit on the steps and water starts flowing down the steps from the top. Great waterslide and nice play areas for younger kids.

We took out one of the watermice for 1/2 hour (around $20) and rented a surrey bike for 1/2 hour (under $20). We also rented a paddleboat for 1/2 hour ($6).

The Pepper Market was great. Big variety of food and everyone is helpful and friendly.

Everyone talks about how much walking you have to do but if we didn't feel like walking to El Centro we just hopped on one of the buses and got a ride.

I am a big fan of this resort as you can tell and can't wait to go back someday! :D

Thanks so much for all the replies!

I am getting more excited about staying there with each reply I read. (Keep them coming:D .)

Hi again DeeCee,

You WILL love CSR. If you'll love a resort with great transportation, awesome landscaping, one of the best pools on property, then CSR will do you right. The kids will love the Dig Site.

Remember, the Pepper Market is NOT a food court. So if you go in with that expectation, you'll be dissappointed. It is like comparing McDonalds to an Outback or Ruby Tuesdays.

Check out my CSR website below.

Buzz is right. The Pepper market is not a food court and the resort does not refer to it as such. It's so nice!!!! We usually stay at the AS, so we are used to the food courts there (and think they are great for what they are). The Pepper Market has a very relaxing atmosphere in comparison. You are greeted and seated. They bring your drinks and you get up and make your choices and sit down and eat in PEACE! No runnng around after plastic silverware or looking for a table with a tray in your hand. You pay as you exit.

We paid $109 here and thought we got such a bargain! It was peak season and that was the FL Res. rate.

We stayed there 12/02 for 10 nights, we loved it. It is beautiful, and the PM was great. We will be at CBR in May, not because we don't like CSR, just because we want to try a different resort.;)
