Please share your USAIR experiences!

The times I've taken a tour charter was to Atlantic City and one time to Las Vegas, never to Orlando. There are no direct scheduled flights to AC from PIT (on USAir you have to take a commuter from PHL), so that is why I took them. They were gambling junkets and were cheap because the casino subsidized them (you pay indirectly! ;) ). When we first when to Las Vegas in 1995, USAir did not have any daytime flights, so we took an Apple Tour charter. That was the absolute worst, an old 727, no empty seats and you had no room. Didn't even have a monitor for a movie. Almost 6 hours with a stop in Cincinnati to pick up the rest of the passengers.

they suck to work for but are great to fly! also being from pit(worked for them here too) I don't have much of a choice but I still love to fly them, with my other chocie being continental!

I've flown them twice. The first time with no problem. The second time was Oct. 2001 and I have to agree with nancyj-pa. They cancelled our flight and by the time I realized by checking on-line (they did not contact us) the only thing availble was a late flight the same day (lose a day at WDW - no way) or go the night before (late flight also) which cost us more money because of needing a place to sleep at 1am in the morning. Then when we got to the airport they announced that they had added an earlier flight 7:30pm. Little did we know that this was due to lots of passengers being bumped that morning so we decided to take it. We set on the airplane for 2 hours before we left because there was no pilot -- supposedly caught in traffic. The bright side was we still arrived at MCO 45 minutes before our original flight which was delayed.

AugustHeather- thanks for the analogy! I'll have to disagree with you on Pan Am though. ANYTHING is wonderful compared to Pan Am in my opinion! I will NEVER fly them again, no matter how desperate I am.

Thanks for the help, everyone! I've been tracking our flights, and they seem to be on time.... I'll keep checking our flights for changes. I'd LOVE for them to cancel our 6am flight from MCO to PIT and put us on the 8:15. We shall see!

I value your opinions! I'll let you know what happens.

Holly:)

I would Never fly US AIR again...........Just wait and see.............US AIr is MUCH worse than PanAM....no seat room at ALL....cranky flight attendents most of the time.........late taking off...late landing........lost luggage.......and it is at LOGAN..........the worst reason of all........I'd take ANYTHING over US Air..........:(

Ted and Holly -

I see you are connecting in Pittsburgh, not in LaGuardia? I hope that is the case. I flew from Providence to LaGuar. on US Air...it is a prop plane...then I was stuck in LaGuardia for 7 hours. I don't know, I think it is the airport, not US Air, but I know a lot of people that get stuck there. Also, my flight from Prov. to LaGuardia was changed at the last minute. I think they combined two flights, so my flight left an hour late. It would have been a tight connection, but then my flight out of NY got delayed for 7 hours, so I had PLENTY of time!!!

Anne60- Yes, we are flying from Manchester to Pittsburgh, and have about 50 minutes to connect to our flight to Orlando. It will be tight. I absolutely REFUSE to fly in or out of any of the NYC airports. I saw a special on TV about how crowded the airways are over the city, and how many delays there are. NOT FOR ME! So, we payed a little bit extra to fly into PIT. Also, I'm scared to death to fly, and all of the near-misses they have in the Laguardia/JFK/Newark area freaks me out. And no PROP planes for me!! I'd rather walk. We made sure we are on 737's and 757's!We have allowed time in our schedule to deal with cancelled/delayed flights, especially coming back. My only concern is catching the PIT to MCO in time....

AugustHeather- Your feelings about USair are the same we feel about Pan Am!!! =) LOL! In my mind, USair would have to do A LOT for me to think it is worse than Pan Am. Our Pan Am flight began to fall apart in the air, and resulted in a 7 1/2 hour emergency landing in North Carolina. They didn't give us food, they didn't even have drinks for us when we got BACK on a plane at 8pm.... They did nothing for the passengers at all.... my nice luggage was not lost, but basically destroyed... I don't know what they did with it!! Other Pan Am flights we took, including the one home from that dreadful trip, were delayed HOURS for no reason. Pan Am flies planes that are 35+ years old and they only have SEVEN in their fleet. If something happens with one of them, flights are messed up for days. The Pease Development Authority is investigating Pan Am because all of the complaints they have received about the airline from passengers has made them consider getting rid of them at Pease altogether! Not for me. And we're not flying out of Logan, we're flying out of Manchester. Its a much smaller, safer airport. Not quite as convenient as Pease, but it will be okay.
