Afternoon all,
Congrats to
Raya and the
Team for making it to
orange, and to
luvpoohandcompany for storming ahead to
purple!

Following on Expedition Everest, our next ride accelerating us into the month is one that has similar qualities both to this and to Big Thunder Mountain, and it is
Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars:

Big Grizzly Mountain is the star attraction in the Grizzly Gulch land at Hong Kong
Disneyland. The land itself resembles a gold rush town from the 1840s/50s, built around a large mountain.
Big Grizzly Mountain is the second Disney rollercoaster to feature a backwards section, the first being our previous ride, EE. It also bears a lot of similarities to Big Thunder Mountain, and the mountain itself in Grizzy Gulch resembles Grizzly Peak at DCA.
Opening in June 2013, Big Grizzly Mountain features 1100 meters of track, and as well as a backwards section similar to EE (albeit nowhere near as intense), it also features a forward magnetic launch later in the ride that shoots you off at 35mph (56km/h).
Fun fact, as the ride starts you head towards Tunnel 8 until a grizzly bear named Rocky uses a railswitch as a backscratcher and accidentally sends your train into Tunnel 4. In Chinese tradition, the number 8 signifies good luck whereas the number 4 signifies death.
Sadly no ride photo for this one as there wasn't one (the only negative for HKDL imo was the severe lack of ride photos), but here's a front row ride POV:
So has anyone been on Big Grizzly? Or would you? Hands down this was probably my favourite ride at HKDL, the backwards section and quick launch just sold it for me!
