I want to crock tomorrow but I want something simple with few ingredients that is tried and true! TIA!

I love using my crockpot - especially on nights that my daughter has after school activities. I can't remember the name of the dish but my husband's favorite is:

4-6 chicken breasts topped with
taco seasoning &
salsa

Cook for 6 -8 hours on low. Take chicken out. Stir in sour cream until is creamy - put chicken back in. I usually serve with rice that has beans in it! Simple yet yummy :)

What are you planning on cooking? Chicken, pork, beef? I have lots of recipes to share ;)

Very easy roast:

Put roast in (any kind). Sprinkle one packet of Lipton Onion Soup mix on top. Cover with one can of Cream of Mushroom Soup. Cook on low for 6-8 hours. It makes its own gravy that is YUMMY. I usually serve it with rice or mashed potatoes.

I can do chicken or beef! I am also curious for any ham recipes, I have never cooked a ham but may give it a whirl.

Mine is similar to another poster's but it is so yummy!

Crockpot Chicken Tacos

4 chicken breasts
1 cup chicken broth
1 package of taco seasoning

Place everything in crockpot and cook 6 on low or 3-4 on high.
Shred and they are perfect for tacos!!

I also add some crushed red pepper for extra kick! It doesn't get much easier than this.

One of our local radio shows has her Mom come in on Mondays and gives great recipes. Here are two of hers:

TANGY SLOW COOKER PORK ROAST
Ingredients:
1 large onion, sliced
2 1/2 pounds boneless pork loin roast
1 cup hot water
1/4 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon ketchup
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 dash hot pepper sauce, or to taste
Preparation:
Arrange onion slices evenly over the bottom of the slow cooker, and then place the roast on top of the onions. In a bowl, mix together remaining nine ingredients and pour over the roast. Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 8 hours or on High for 3 to 4 hours.

I'm making this one tomorrow!
TANGY RUMP ROAST
Ingredients:
5 lb. Rump Roast
1 Large Jar Pepperoncinis
1 Package Au Jus Mix (dry)
1 Cup Water
Preparation:
Place the rump roast, pepperoncinis with juice (stems removed), au jus mix, and water in a slow cooker and cook for eight hours or until meat is very tender and pulls apart. Serve on hot Kaiser rolls with horseradish (optional) on the side. Delicious tangy beef sandwiches.

I do a variation of this w/o the seasoning (nor the sour cream at the end) and I throw in a sliced green or red pepper and then we eat them a fajitas w/flour tortillas. YUMMY too :)

HAHA. I variate this one too.....I would throw my baby carrots and some red pototoes in there and then the whole dinner is DONE :)

Here is one w/pork chops

Boneless pork chops (I find that the thick ones work best because they don't dry out)

1 pack dry onion soup mix
1 can golden mushroom soup
3/4 can of water

Mix the 3 above together

Slice onion, put at the bottom of crock, throw chops on top, pour sauce and cook on low all day. I serve with white rice & peas :)

wow, these recipes look YUMMY!!

I just usually use my crock for Turkey Chili, or some ribs with BBQ sauce...I gotta try some of these (if I can get the No salt variations).....

I have my crockpot going right now. :) I have a marinaded (garlic and herbs -- pre-done) pork loin, with potatoes and green beans. Yea! Dinner will be ready with no fuss. I don't know what we'll have for dessert. I'm trying for something on the healthier end of the spectrum.

I often do the same thing as you - only substitute the beans with carrots (my kids won't eat beans).

Pulled pork with root beer sauce.

I KNOW that sounds weird, but trust me, it's AMAZING. (My kids even eat them, we tell them they are crabby patties.:lmao:)

* 1 2-1/2- to 3-pound pork sirloin roast
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon pepper
* 1 tablespoon cooking oil
* 2 medium onions, cut into thin wedges
* 1 cup root beer*
* 6 cloves garlic, minced
* 3 cups root beer (two 12-ounce cans or bottles)*
* 1 cup bottled chili sauce
* 1/4 teaspoon root beer concentrate (optional)
* Several dashes bottled hot pepper sauce (optional)
* 8 to 10 hamburger buns, split (and toasted, if desired)
* Lettuce leaves (optional)
* Tomato slices (optional)

Directions

1. Trim fat from meat. If necessary, cut roast to fit into a 3-1/2- to 5-quart crockery cooker. Sprinkle meat with the salt and pepper. In a large skillet brown meat on all sides in hot oil. Drain off fat. Transfer meat to cooker. Add onions, the 1 cup root beer, and garlic.

2. Cover and cook on low-heat setting for 8 to 10 hours or on high-heat setting for 4 to 5 hours.

3. Meanwhile, for sauce, in a medium saucepan combine the 3 cups of root beer and the chili sauce. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Boil gently, uncovered, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes or until mixture is reduced to 2 cups. Add root beer concentrate and bottled hot pepper sauce, if desired.

4. Transfer roast to a cutting board or serving platter. Using a slotted spoon, remove onions from cooking juices and place on serving platter. Discard juices. Using 2 forks, pull meat apart into shreds. To serve, line buns with lettuce leaves and tomato slices, if desired. Add meat and onions; spoon on sauce. Makes 8 to 10 servings.

*Note: Do not substitute with diet root beer.

I never even bother browning the meat. I forgot to the second time I made it and honestly couldn't tell the difference, so I just skip that step.

Chicken Marsala

4 or 5 chicken breasts

1/2 red onion chopped

1 can of cream of mushroom soup

3/4 to 1 cup of marsala wine

sliced mushrooms

put the chicken in the crock w/ some salt and pepper and some garlic powder. Mix the wine and soup together and pour over chicken. Let cook for 4 or so hours. I add the mushrooms about 1/2 way through or else they fall apart. I serve over rice.

Chicken Taco soup

1 can corn
1 can black beans
1 can tomato sauce
1 can chicken broth(or beer)
2 cans of Rotel
1 package of taco seasoning
3 chicken breasts

Pour all ingrediaents into crock and place chicken breasts in. Cook for 6 hours, take chicken out and shred it and put it back in. Serve with a scoop of sour cream and some chips.

I also just throe chicken breasts in there with a jar of bbq sauce and then shred the chicken.

A spicy way to enjoy pork chops:

Brown 4 to 6 boneless pork chops and put them in the crockpot. (I prefer thick pork chops but it also works with thin cut.) Add 1 can (14.5 oz) DelMonte basil, garlic, and oregano seasoned diced tomatoes. Add 1 packet dry onion soup mix and 1 can of chili beans.

Cook on high for about 5 hours. I like to have the pork chops and baked potatoes and spoon the bean/tomato mixture on top of the potatoes. Add a sprinkling of shedded cheddar cheese and a dollop of sour cream, if desired.

Great on a cold winter day and I love that it's one of the few crockpot recipes I've found that doesn't include cream of something soup. ;) (But the pot roast recipe above is the only way I like pot roast!)

How many of you (besides me) bring their crock pot on vacation so their dinner is done after playing all day? I always stay in a condo that has a full kitchen. It saves me a ton of time at the end of a busy day. They even make crock pot liners that I use only when on vacation to make clean up a snap!

Thanks for starting this thread. Unforunately my favorite recipe was the Pot Roast with the cream of mushroom soup which was already posted. Although I serve it over egg noodles. . I'm new to crock pots so hopefully I'll have some recipes to share soon.

I so the same thing but no taco seasoning or sour cream.

After it cooks all day, I make some rice, then put the chicken/rice and some shredded cheddar cheese in a pre-heated burrito............DELISH~!

R the beans in the crock? Do you use fresh, frozen, can? Do they cook all day and not get too mushy?
