Please share your Christmas menu

For Christmas dinner it's usually:

Some dips (like Vidalia Onion) plus cheese and crackers, veggies, then:

Antipasti
Shrimp Cocktail
Meatballs and Sauce w/ Italian Bread
Manicotti

and after that:

Filet Mignon
Creamed Spinach
Glazed Carrots
Twice Baked Potatos

and for dessert, Christmas cookies, and ice cream with creme de menthe.

Christmas morning - breakfast casseroles, fruit and coffee.

We're not have a sit down meal this year. My children are all young adults, who will be in and out visiting boyfriend/girlfriend families and friends (and in the case of my foster, she's also going to her parents), my parents are going to my sister's house this year and DH is a grazer. We're doing a hot/cold buffet. I'm having:

Shrimp cocktail
Buffalo chicken dip
Texas Caviar (bean dip) w/taco chips
Cheese & crackers
veggies & dip
pizza ring
Pulled pork
Meatballs
pasta salad
potato salad
tossed salad
fruit salad
Assortment of Christmas cookies/bars

I used to do this when the kids were little and were too excited to sit down for a big meal and it worked out well.

Bumping up because I am looking for ideas or is it wrong to make potato salad for a side?

Never mind, the poster behind has it listed as side. Cool....

We're going to grill a two inch thick semi-boneless ribeye. It's been aging in the fridge since Wednesday.

We are having steaks, lobster tails, loaded baked potatoes, steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower and asparagus) homemade baked beans, banana pudding (DH's fav), homemade chocolate stout cake (my girl's fav) and almond pound cake (DS's fav).

I've had to change things. We were going to have a roast on Christmas Eve and then sandwiches on Christmas.

Now, we're going to my MIL's on Christmas Eve (and missing church - grrrr) and I have no idea what she's serving.

For Christmas Day dinner we'll be having a pot roast with onions, potatoes, and carrots, with an arugula and beet salad.

These are so darn delicious, and really pretty simple.

Boursin Potatoes

3 pounds red potatoes, unpeeled
salt & pepper
1 pint heavy cream
1 (5 oz) package of boursin cheese
Fresh chives or parsley, chopped

Slice potatoes into quarter inch rounds and toss with S & P
Slowly heat heavy cream and cheese until melted
In a buttered dish layer half of potatoes
Pour over 1/2 of cream mixture
Repeat
Cover and back at 350 degrees for an hour
Sprinkle the top with chives or parsley

(If you really want to make it easy, I've used the pre-sliced fresh potatoes in the bag - usually in the refrigerator aisle. I think they're called "Simply Potatoes" and they taste quite good!!)

I am going to make this. My mom is bringing a Honey Baked Ham and I have to make scalloped potatoes. Thanks
:thumbsup2

It's just the 5 of us for both Christmas Eve and Day.,

Eve we keep more casual...mostly appetizer type stuff...
-shrimp, meatballs, cocktail wienies, tortellini pasta salad, veggies/dip, sausage/cheese/crackers, bread/pesto dip, buffalo chicken dip and either some drummies or popcorn chicken (for picky DD) , crockpot hot cocoa plus the cookies/treats I've made.

Day: Beef tenderloin, either steamed baby red or the boursin potatoes somebody mentioned a few pages back, cooked carrots, corn, cranberry sauce and rolls. Sausage/cheeseball/crackers for snacking later in the evening, more cookies/treats.

Nothing fancy we are having

Spiral ham
Mashed Potatoes
Candied yams
vegetables
Gravy
Biscuits

Christmas eve:

Cheese enchiladas with homemade sauce
Mexican rice and beans
Guacamole
Queso flameado con chorizo
Mexican style pot roast
Homemade tortillas
Salad
Assorted cookies, strawberry cheesecake

Christmas morning:
Variety of kolaches- bacon, sausage, cream cheese, prune, cherry, apple
Scrambled Eggs
Hash browns
Fruit salad

Christmas day:
Spiral ham
Yeast rolls for sandwiches
Veggie tray
Leftovers from the other two meals
Assorted cookies, brownies

We're going to the movies Christmas day, so I guess we'll throw popcorn in there somewhere.

On Christmas Eve, I am serving dinner: a smoked turkey (it's being smoked for us by a family friend), mac and cheese, green beans, garden salad, rolls and blondies and cookies for dessert. I had to keep it simple because we will be at a family gathering for lunch on Christmas Eve and I won't have time to really cook. We are having ten people plus the four of us for dinner.

Christmas Day we eat at my mom's house for a big brunch and then will probably just eat leftovers for dinner because we will all be exhausted from running around.

I posted earlier in this thread, but we've changed our mind! LOL!

So, I'll post again w/ our updated menu. We're going to do a meal inspired by 'Ohana -

Pork Loin w/ Cranberry Sauce
Sweet Potato Souffle in Orange Cups
Sauted Green Beans
Asian Noodles
Green Salad w/ a Honey-Lime Dressing
Hawaiian Rolls

For appetizers, baked chicken wings & pineapple. And, for dessert, Christmas cookies, Key Lime Cake & 'Ohana's Bread Pudding.

Lasagna on Christmas Eve, dinner rolls, chocolate pie and cookies

Christmas Day- standing rib roast, twice baked potatoes, Brussel sprouts, snowflake rolls
Also we will have cookies I've made AND Christmas is my mother's birthday so we always have a Carvel cake, not sure why, just a tradition.

I am looking for a good breakfast idea. Crockpot maybe? Anyone have ideas?

I usually do either prime rib or filet mignon for Christmas dinner.

I've gotten in to the habit (from my husband's family) of really going overboard on the appetizers. I do things like baked brie, cheese and crackers, cocktail meatballs, shrimp cocktail, maybe a hot dip (hot onion dip or spinach artichoke.) I make some yummy candied pecans that I have out too. The cocktail hour lasts for a couple of hours.

Being of Italian heritage myself, I like to have a pasta course with our dinner. I've done lasagna, but penne vodka is my favorite the past few years.

I'll usually have a salad course - but personally I think we can do without it.

Side dishes: Boursin potatoes (to die for), maybe a green bean casserole, some mushrooms, glazed carrots, and some type of crescent rolls or the like.

Now it's time for dessert: that's my wheelhouse!! I usually do at least 6 or 7 (no matter how many people will be there.) Some type of cheesecake (cookie dough or Bailey's or brownie bottom), always a chocolate cake, maybe cream puffs or cannoli's, a pie (pumpkin or coconut custard?,) maybe some type of trifle (Death by Chocolate?) some brownies or cupcakes, and of course - cookies!!!

So, if anything above sounds interesting, I have some really good recipes!!!

would you mind sharing how you make your baked brie? :) and your candied pecans?

Alright posting my current menu so far. It is better to see the list, lol.

I am hosting C. Eve so basically it is our big meal. It is from 1-6, so doing lunch and dinner. Everyone will not be here for lunch.

Apps

Cheese Ball w/ crackers and sausage
Dill Dip with Rye Round
Deviled Eggs
Veggie Tray
Shrimp Tray

Lunch

Hot Roast Beef sandwiches on french rolls
Potato Salad
Chips

Dinner

Honey Baked Ham
Scalloped potatoes
Stuffing
hot veggies (still figuring that one out)
Rolls

Desserts

Cookies
Chocolate Mint Dessert
Lemon Velvet Cake
Pumpkin Bread
"Famous Wafer" Ice Box Cake

That is it so far. Now that I see, I will have to think about it. ;)

It started out with me inviting everyone over for dinner on Christmas Day 20 people. Then my SIL and family said they couldn't make it that day so they invited themselves over Christmas Eve.
Christmas Eve will be apps and desserts. Cheese/meat tray with crackers, wings, turkey roll ups, mozzarella sticks, veggie tray. I'm going to tell her to bring desserts.

Christmas Day
Ham
Smoked turkey breast
Mac and cheese
Sweet potato casserole
Pasta salad
Corn
Brussel sprouts
Cauliflower casserole
Probably Lima beans
Rolls

Pumpkin mousse
Cookies
Not sure what else for dessert

I'm getting over a cold , (missed work a few days last week), so I'm scaling down our christmas dinner, or at least simplifying it by buying some pre made stuff.

Prime Rib Roast
Burgundy mushrooms (recipe from The Pioneer Woman)
mashed potatoes

get a Marie Calendars pie for dessert.

I will host my family Christmas Eve. My aunt died this week. Her funeral is Monday. So not a good week for my family. I made a turkey breast and dressing today to take for after the funeral.

But back to Xmas, it'll be easy appetizers and finger foods. Bagel bites, coctail weiners wrapped in bacon sprinkled with brown sugar, chicken tenders, homemade mac and cheese, lasagna, cookies, dirt cake, vegetable platter, broccoli and cheese, maybe I'll make shrimp stew or something with crawfish.

Christmas Eve: steak fondue (oil) and finger foods/apps.

Christmas day breakfast: ham and cheese croissants and mimosas. :)

Christmas day dinner: standing rib roast, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, salad and rolls.

Usually we cater out a huge Barbeque shindig. This year we will have Prime Rib, baked potatoes with the works, caesar salad and sour cream muffins. No appetizer and don't know what's for dessert yet.
