We are booked for our second stay at CBR. We really loved it the first time we stayed there last October. It was relaxing, not crowded and had a good atmosphere all around. As I read on the boards...daily :rolleyes1 I can't help but notice among the mods how popular POR is. We've never been to that resort and I would really love to see an experienced comparison of the two! Thank so much!

Hi,
We just returned from a wonderful stay at POR. We stayed at POR twice last year and CBR once last year. The benefits of POR over CBR are:

Newly refurbished rooms
Queen beds
Boat transportation to Downtown Disney
Walk to POFQ and use their amenities (pool, food court - it's not pool hopping because they are sister resorts)
Live Entertainment - Elliott Dyson at POFQ and Yee Ha Bob at POR
Food court - wide selection, good food

Don't get me wrong - we love CBR as well but find there is a bit more to do at POR. They both are large resorts with multiple bus stops.

CBR has the advantage if you are looking for a beachy feel as they have lovely sandy 'beaches' to relax on. Also, CBRs rooms are slightly bigger than POR, but they do have full-size beds.

I don't think you can go wrong with either resort. Just spend some time looking at the pictures on the threads for each resort and decide which theme appeals to you/your family the most. Good luck in your decision! :wizard:

My family liked CBR. It's a very nice resort, but we love POR. POR is a little large but I don't think it's quite as spread out as CBR. We also like the landscaping and food court better at POR. That's just my opinion.

Pros for CBR: Never really feels crowded to me, beautiful, nice little beach area/water, theming is very nice. Nice little island in the middle of the water that is a great place to walk around and check out the birds. I think the rooms are about the same. I love Old Port Royale, it's got lots of different counter restaurants and shops.

Cons for CBR: Buildings are spread out so if you're not able to get a building near OPR it can be annoying. I would recommend staying at one of the buildings by the bridge in Jamaica or Aruba if you'd rather not pay extra for preferred rooms, it's a nice and relatively short walk to OPR without the added cost of preferred. Also there are a lot of bus stops and I've heard frequent complaints about the timing of the buses.

We stayed at CBR twice and POR (when it was Dixie landings) once and enjoyed both places. We liked POR when we went before we had children. We last stayed at CBR last July for the 4th and loved it. We have 2 DS and we stayed in the pirate themed room. They thought it was awesome. I like CBR better because of the way the resort is laid out, the one down fall is all the bus stops but they are close to the buildings so not bad overall. You can see fireworks from Epcot on the CBR.

We have stayed at both and they are very comparable. If we had to choose between the two again, we would select POR. The rooms at CBR are slightly larger, but POR has queen beds. There are also fewer bus stops at POR. We found the food court to be equal (both great) and the landscaping great. Good luck!!
