Hi everybody,
thank you so much for all your well wishes, it means so much to me and my family. At the moment I am writing from Tenerife. The situation was that he had a massive heart attack. Two of the arteries were blocked, one with 3 blockages, and one with 1. The 3 block artery has been unblocked in surgery but they can not do anything about the other blockage. He is on a ventilator and is in a drug induced coma to prevent any strain. His heart rate has dropped a little but it is still at 106, so it needs to come down a bit more yet. he will stay sedated for another 2 days if he can hold steady like this, frankly it is a miracle that we still have him with us. I did not go to the hospital today as I have a cold but I think I will go tomorrow as it is basically gone, there is only 2 hours of the day I can visit in intensive care though. I am frightened about seeing him like this, he was always invinsible to me and my hero but I need him to know I'm there, and speak to him, so he hears my voice. I will keep you updated with any progress, and thanks again.

I'm so sorry to hear this Claire. I was in a similar situation with my Granda last Christmas. I also didn't know how I would feel seeing him on a ventilator, it was heartbreaking, but I too just wanted to be with him and talk to him, the whole time he was on the ventilator he never opened his eyes, but as the days passed, I asked him questions and he began squeezing my hand, not wanting to let go. Several days later he came round. Thankfully my Granda recovered, and I send you all the well wishes in the world that your Granda will too. I understand how you feel, and it is a very difficult time for you and your family.
